Former Vice President Mike Pence issued a statement Tuesday evening following the Biden DOJ’s latest indictments of his former boss and now presidential campaign rival President Trump for contesting the 2020 election. Pence said he has not reviewed the indictment. Trump strongly lobbied Pence to accept challenges to state election results and give those states time to review their elections when he presided over the joint session of Congress on January 6, 2021. Pence rejected Trump’s pleas, disagreeing with Trump’s saying he had the legal authority to do so under the Electoral Count Act of 1887.

Is it wrong of me that I am chuckling out loud at the problems of Judas Pence right now? I try not to show glee or amusement at the troubles of others, but Pence deserves it for what he spent 4 years and beyond doing. I still think he was the Leaker in the WH. First he said the trouble in American cities is not his concern, then he trashes Trump BEFORE even reading the indictment? He isn't intelligent enough to be dog catcher let alone a president.

Pence panics. Schadenfreude. This unintentionally funny plea for campaign funds strikes me as being as pathetic as Fetterman's recent statement to the NYT, quoted in the Daily Caller. Haven't heard that? Quoth Senator F: “ 'Everyone here is cynical, of course. But we can fight for things that are meaningful. That we should have no hungry. Hanger. Hangry. Hanger. Hangry,' Fetterman said." (https://dailycaller.com/2023/07/28/john-fetterman-nyt-plan-fight-hanger-hangry/) I certainly hope Vice President Pence, seeing whatever support he ever had evaporating, isn't too hangry. Or is displaying unreasonable hanger.

I don't have a problem with Pence's disagreeing with Trump over his role in certifying the election-- whether Pence's role was merely ceremonial, or whether it allowed him to take other actions. Worthy men with great legal minds could have honest disagreement about that. I do, however, have a problem with everything he's done and said since then. And it's par for the course when you remember his hemming and hawing on Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act when he was Governor.

History provides examples of third-party presidential candidates swinging elections. Ross Perot denied George H.W. Bush a second term in 1992, running on the Reform Party ticket and garnering 18.9% of the popular vote. Bill Clinton won with only 43.0%. In 1980, Congressman John Anderson ran an incoherent candidacy yet captured 6.6% of votes. Reagan prevailed over Carter 50.7% to 41.0%. It is unclear if Anderson’s bid was engineered by Reagan’s campaign to split votes from Carter. Teddy Roosevelt's 1912 third-party run split Republican votes, yielding Woodrow Wilson, the first progressive leftist president. Now comes RFK Jr. with a platform exhibiting substantial overlap with the MAGA agenda.

Of all the outrages in Biden special counsel Jack Smith’s latest indictment of Donald Trump — and there are many — the worst comes at the end of the 45-page screed’s Count One, the section titled “The Defendant’s Exploitation of the Violence and Chaos at the Capitol.” This is where Smith waves the bloody shirt. Smith intends to try Trump for the Capitol riot even though he hasn’t charged Trump for the Capitol riot. No rioting charge. No allegation of criminal incitement. No seditious conspiracy, no insurrection, no crime of violence of any kind. To levy such an allegation would have been untenable. Smith’s indictment hides the ball, as did the like-minded.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis used a surprising choice of words over the weekend when describing his plans to tackle the Deep State, promising to “start slitting throats” on day one. DeSantis campaigned in New Hampshire over the weekend, attending campaign events hosted by former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA). “We’re going to have all of these Deep State people, you know. We are going to start slitting throats on day one,” DeSantis said during the barbecue event. DeSantis also promised that his administration will ensure the woke agenda “ends up in the dustbin of history.”
