Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis used a surprising choice of words over the weekend when describing his plans to tackle the Deep State, promising to “start slitting throats” on day one. DeSantis campaigned in New Hampshire over the weekend, attending campaign events hosted by former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA). “We’re going to have all of these Deep State people, you know. We are going to start slitting throats on day one,” DeSantis said during the barbecue event. DeSantis also promised that his administration will ensure the woke agenda “ends up in the dustbin of history.”

Special Counsel Jack Smith on Friday asked a judge to issue a protective order in the case against former President Donald Trump over his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election after Trump made a post on Truth Social.
On Friday, Trump posted the following message to his Truth Social account: “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU.”
Now, Smith is using that post to argue Trump’s access to the discovery in his criminal case should be restricted. Smith’s proposed order seeks to prevent “improper dissemination or use of discovery materials, including to the public,” according to a four-page filing.

A new CNN survey shows that 69 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents do not believe “Joe Biden legitimately won enough votes to win the presidency” in 2020. It’s worth asking what if anything might have convinced them to believe Biden’s win was legitimate, if only to establish what could happen differently in 2024 to avoid another contested Democratic win — if not an attack on the Capitol.
