Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis used a surprising choice of words over the weekend when describing his plans to tackle the Deep State, promising to “start slitting throats” on day one.
DeSantis campaigned in New Hampshire over the weekend, attending campaign events hosted by former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA).
“We’re going to have all of these Deep State people, you know. We are going to start slitting throats on day one,” DeSantis said during the barbecue event. DeSantis also promised that his administration will ensure the woke agenda “ends up in the dustbin of history.”

And I have more confidence in DeSantis getting rid of the deep state than Trump. I have not seen any indication that Trump will not be surrounding himself with many of the same people he had before. Obama, through executive order, overhauled all government agencies, forcing out career employees and installing "his people."

But...but...but he's advocating violence. And no doubt, he's a racist, too. He thinks slavery actually helped the slaves. [Sarcasm off,]

I saw a similar report earlier in which the reporter commented that he’d used that line before. Passing strange, especially from a man known for his easily triggefed temper;

So much bad advice from the Bushes. You just keep digging the hole deeper, Ron.

I remember hearing all the tough “ they aren’t gonna want to deal with me” talk from W in 2000. Bushies know how sound conservative enough to get elected.

Wow Ron - good luck with that as you would find out all too quickly that some federal judge will issue an injunction on anything the Left doesn't like - just as Trump had to deal with it when President.

Trump spent the first three years of his term fighting false allegations of the Russia hoax. Yet he accomplished more in that time to fix the country than most presidents do in two terms. His first few years was ridding himself of all the inside the beltway clowns foisted on him by people in D.C. That won't happen again. He knows how the swamp works now. He knows where all the skeletons are buried, and he's now had four years to formulate a plan to rid D.C. of those causing the problems. DeSantis will have to start from scratch and feel his way around the D.C. swamp. Trump won't have that kind of problem.

If one of us write that here on L.com we'd be getting a visit from the DeepState®. Perhaps DeSantis is trying to get an indictment to boost his polls. Sure seems to be working for Trump.

#1, and how many private sector (i.e. non-government) jobs has DeSantis worked in his life? Hardly the resume of a top tier swamp drainer.

For those who might (sadly) not be aficianados of H. L. Mencken, this phrase is likely lifted by Gov. DeSantis from a quote or a "Menckenism".
"There comes a time in every man's life where he must spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and start slitting throats."

I doubt you will find Mencken on bookshelves in casa DeSantis. Probably not PJ O'Rourke, either.
