Gas leaf blowers and lawn mowers are shockingly
bad for the planet. Bans are beginning

DENVER – Your lawn may be the next climate change battleground. And parks. And playgrounds. Regulators and clean-air advocates are increasingly eyeing the pollution emitted by small gasoline engines used to power lawn mowers and leaf blowers as they seek to blunt climate change. Advocates say using a commercial gas leaf blower for an hour produces emissions equal to driving from Denver to Los Angeles. Among cities and states with bans or limits: California; Burlington, Vermont; Vancouver, Canada; and Washington, D.C. While many critics first attacked the small engines for the noise they make, experts say these small, two-stroke engines release

Comments:

Yes - they are coming for your lawnmower. The unpopular noise of leaf blowers will be used as an excuse to outlawn a wide range of small-engine equipment. Snow blowers, chain saws, and rototillers will be next on the list (to save the planet of course).

They should come to Florida on any given morning (around 7:30). The happy sound of Lawn Mowers and Leaf Blowers can be heard far and wide! Nobody here does their own lawn care, so Landscapers do whole neighborhoods at a time. Guess if they do away with that Lawncare we will have to buy Goats or Sheep to take over! Or pull up all the grass and just dump a couple loads of Sand around the House! Just gets more and more Crazy. Are we going to survive until we can get the Democrats out of power?

How can I possibly treat this as a serious story? There was not a single "OMG" in the entire article. I mean, like, how can it, like, really be important if, like, there is not a half dozen "OMG"s, like, scattered around? And look at the states that have banned them, the usual list of "sky falling" states/districts.

I have not owned a "two stroke" lawn mower in 50+ years. I did not know that they were still available. Are they? Do four stroke lawn mowers pollute less? I think they do and that should be part of the story cited. That looks like another biased news story.

Prove it! If they are making claims based on beliefs that they can't prove, yet they want us to also believe by faith, well, isn't that the very definition of a religion? NO Government sponsored religion allowed, especially not one disguised as science.

Using a commercial-grade leaf-blower has equivalent emissions as driving from Denver to LA? What utter nonsense. So burning 30 gallons of gasoline in a reasonably efficient car produces less emissions than one gallon of 2-stroke mixture? Some people who understand chemical reactions would like to have a word with you.

An additional thought. These people don't give a Rat's Behind about The Planet. This is just a Tool to exercise more Control of the rest of us. As Ottmar Edenhofer, UN IPCC Official said. "[W]e redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy." It's not Science, it's a Religion. It's also the Scam of the Century. It seems to me that eventually they will figure out that human breath exhalations contain that evil Carbon Dioxide.... and naturally they will ban Exhaling. But only for Conservatives. The left does not want us to own anything: lawnmowers, leaf blowers, cars, airplanes, appliances, homes, food, bank accounts, retirement funds, to go anywhere, and to be cremated. But the leaders of all this are billionaires, and have all these things. Give me capitalism, where you determine what you have, not the government.

You and I must be impoverished and struggle with expensive, poorly performing everything. The new refrigerators and air conditioners will cost much more, and work more poorly. EVERYTHING is being intentionally destroyed. If you saw the movies in the "Hunger Games" series - that is the future that they plan for us all.

The minuscule amount of air pollution caused by these engines is not harming the environment, the noise of a leaf blower is annoying on a Sunday morning but I fail to understand why people feel the need to blow their leaves out of the yard only to have them return within hours, if not minutes. Only the machines that have attached vacuums that collect them in a bag make sense.

A have an electric lawn mower and chain saw. They're less maintenance, but my lawn mower battery has to be charged twice to mow my whole lawn, and they're both weaker than the gas-powered versions. Overall, I can't recommend them -- yet. Climate Change? Glaciers have been melting for several hundred years. I do like clean air, though, and less obnoxious noise. These climate fanatics would have more of an argument if cheap nuclear power was available for a vastly improved infrastructure, and battery life was better.

People that use gasoline to mow their yards and blow their leaves (kinky), are producing CO2 that plants need to live. Anyone that wants to stop producing CO2 needs to live without any benefit from plants that use CO2 to live. Let's see how much they enjoy living without oxygen, food, and clothes. They may be surprised how unfulfilling their complete control of others can be.

Think Biden administration regulators have it in for gas stoves? Just wait until you learn what they have in store for air conditioners. In fact, many homeowners are already finding out first hand. It’s all part of team Biden’s prioritization of climate change policy over the interests of consumers. Now that air conditioning season is commencing across most of America, nearly 100 million homeowners are turning on their systems for the first time since last summer, hoping they get cold air. Those that don’t will need repairs, which may require replacing refrigerant that has leaked out of the system. Unfortunately

Before his death in 1964, Ian Fleming wrote 14 books about James Bond, and the literary franchise, just like 007 himself, has proved unkillable. Writers from Kingsley Amis to Anthony Horowitz have taken up the mantle and produced Bond novels. Although it would be misleading to say that this latest Bond novel is actually about Bond. More than an addition to the canon, “Double or Nothing” is an expansion of the universe, and an

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) doubled down on his rejection of House Republicans’ debt limit bill Monday, accusing the GOP of risking default and vowing to hold Senate hearings to “expose the true impact” of the legislation. Schumer wrote in a “Dear Colleague” letter that the Senate would begin examining the bill, which passed in the House last week, in a Budget Committee hearing Thursday.“This bill was hastily drafted and forced through the House at a break-neck speed,” Schumer wrote, arguing it was not vetted in a House committee the way bills typically are.

The Democrats have left the goal wide open. Almost anyone could defeat President Joe Biden, whose physical and mental decline can no longer be hidden from the public. Almost anyone.Yet, with a kind of hideous slow-motion inevitability, the Republicans seem determined to pick the one candidate that we know Biden can beat. We can say that definitively, for it is a matter of observed fact rather than conjecture. According to court filings, Lunden Roberts, the mother of Biden’s 4-year-old estranged daughter, wants Biden to be held in contempt and placed in jail for allegedly withholding evidence in the paternity suit. In 2019, a DNA test confirmed that Biden was the father of the

A Republican councilman in Indiana is going viral after writing on Facebook that he now identifies as a woman of color in an apparent effort to troll the left. Ryan Webb, a father of five who is married to his wife, Brandy, is currently a councilman for Delaware County, Indiana, according to his official account. But he raised eyebrows after he announced his gender transition on Facebook, in a move that some conservative commentators are interpreting as a joke. Webb himself has said that he is holding up a "mirror to the political left" to expose the contradictions in gender ideology. "After much consideration I have decided

A Biden administration rule is set to take effect that will force good-credit home buyers to pay more for their mortgages to subsidize loans to higher-risk borrowers. Experts believe that borrowers with a credit score of about 680 would pay around $40 more per month on a $400,000 mortgage under rules from the Federal Housing Finance Agency that go into effect May 1, costs that will help subsidize people with lower credit ratings also looking for a mortgage, according to a Washington Times report Tuesday. “The changes do not make sense. Penalizing borrowers with larger down payments and credit scores will not go over well,” Ian Wright, a senior loan officer
