Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) doubled down on his rejection of House Republicans’ debt limit bill Monday, accusing the GOP of risking default and vowing to hold Senate hearings to “expose the true impact” of the legislation.
Schumer wrote in a “Dear Colleague” letter that the Senate would begin examining the bill, which passed in the House last week, in a Budget Committee hearing Thursday.“This bill was hastily drafted and forced through the House at a break-neck speed,” Schumer wrote, arguing it was not vetted in a House committee the way bills typically are.

American families have had to cut their budgets, spend less and look for ways to save more. Why shouldn't the federal government follow our lead and do the obvious to help the country out as a whole? I cannot believe that there isn't a hell of a lot of fat that can be trimmed. The people we have put into office and entrusted our future to have failed us (on all sides) and basically are pathetic characters in this play. I am tired of getting screwed by these useless "betters". Time to man us, suck it up, and do what is right. CUT THE SPENDING.

Schumer risks economic catastrophe by spending us into the ground, printing money to pay for his vote buying useless programs and cranking up inflation to the detriment of everyone but especially the poor, middle class, retired and those on fixed income such as the disabled.
But it's all Trump's fault that he doesn't care about people or the country.

McCarthy and his rino buddies will be caving in to Upchuck before the Memorial Day weekend.
Mark my words.
No one, or organization can snatch a defeat from the jaws of victory more adroitly and nimbly than the Republican Party.

Even with all the hyperbole…if the pubbies bill is necessary to MAGA, then just do it. Scummier cannot convince me that clawing back emergency dollars for a former urgency is wrong, that the vote seeking, ill formed, likely unconstitutional plan to give $$ to former students is appropriate (AOC has a Tesla instead of paying back her loans), or that requiring a little effort from abled bodies on the dole (look around at all the help wanted signs) would be inappropriate

Default is a lie. The government can easily prioritize spending to service debt, and not spend in other areas.

So, Schumer pass HR1 and there won't be a need for default. If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

Schumer is a bald faced liar.
Any and all efforts to slow spending are GOOD. Shutting down the government would be GOOD.
I actually think that a default would ultimately be a GOOD THING. We need to shake things up, stop their insane spending, by any means whatsoever.

In the words of a former Speaker of the House, Chuckie will have to pass the bill to see what's in it.

Heh, this is a rerun. We've been seein' this garbage for decades. Remember to thank the enemedia for convincing the sheeple that it is all the gop's fault.
Then again, there have been way too many times where the "republicans" have been willing accomplices in this charade.

Schumer let me put it in terms you can understand: Eff off and die enough of your lies. Democrats own this completely.

Does he define 'vetted' as being when members of both houses get to add all that luscious pork spending to the bill? Stop spending money you don't have, and stop sending it to Ukraine.

Gee Chuckie, the Republicans (at least in the House) appear to have grown a pair and are not going to "play nice" anymore.
Maybe they are finally listening to their base voters!!!!!

For how many years have we beat this dead feculent and putrid mass of corruption? It's always the Republicans' fault, eh, Chucky, except when your leftwing fascist Party is in charge?
And yes, we DO want America To Be Great Again. Too bad Chucky and his greedy and corrupt pals don't want America to be great again.
