Pence said, “Let me just say that it was a great honor for me to be part of the Trump/ Pence administration. In four short years, we reviled the economy, unleashed American energy, appointed conservatives to our courts at every level. But in the end, our administration did not end well. Sacramento, Calif. — California not long ago was reveling in a record budget surplus. Now the Legislature’s fiscal analysts are projecting a $25 billion deficit next fiscal year as tax revenues decline. The nonpartisan agency on Wednesday put the Capitol on alert by recommending state lawmakers cut spending when they reconvene in January — and even hold back some already-budgeted funding in order to avoid the shortfall. The starker outlook poses a new set of challenges for Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom after years of flush budgets buoyed by a booming stock market and thriving tech sector. President Biden has reassured me that America is back! He said so on Twitter from his vacation in Bali, Indonesia. Oops. Not vacation, very serious G20 meeting in Bali, where he met with President Xi of China and hobnobbed with world leaders like PM Trudeau and uber-villain Klaus Schwab. And fell asleep a lot. He is not quite so hobnobby as he used to be. Milk and cookies are more his speed these days, not scotch and cigars. The evidence that “America is Back” is very thin on the ground. It is a boast, not a reality. Biden himself dodders, rambles, and shakes hands with phantoms. Everything he touches

I have written and deleted a thousand words, repeatedly, in an effort to encapsulate what this moment means to me, and perhaps to others. However, when you boil the essence of the thing down to its important part, you are left with a question: Which American politician loves this country more than Donald John Trump? The honest answer is ‘no one’.

Trudeau and Xi spoke face to face briefly on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali on Tuesday. After the unofficial meeting, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a readout of the conversation noting the topics that were discussed and who raised them. According to the readout, during the brief discussion between the two leaders — who have been at odds over trade and the arrest and detention of two Canadians — Trudeau raised concerns about media reports that China covertly funded 11 candidates in the 2019 federal election. The pair were pictured speaking informally in a crowded room in a photograph released by the Prime Minister’s Office to mark the meeting.

Bali, Indonesia - Polish President Andrzej Duda said the missile that killed two people in eastern Poland on Tuesday was likely fired by Ukrainian forces defending against a wave of Russian missile strikes, and that the incident appeared to be an accident. "There is no indication that this was an intentional attack on Poland. Most likely, it was a Russian-made S-300 rocket," Duda said in a tweet Wednesday. He later told a press conference that there was a "high chance" it was an air defense missile from the Ukrainian side and likely had fallen on Polish territory in "an accident" while intercepting incoming Russian missiles. In an extensive live interview with Bret Baier from New York, where he is promoting his political memoir, So Help Me God, published yesterday (including an hour-long town hall on CNN tonight), Pence used the high-profile platform of Fox News to position himself as a sane, moderate, Christian-inspired alternative to President Trump as well as any other candidates among the growing number who plan to challenge President Biden in two years.

There have been many postmortems written about the outcome of the 2022 mid-term elections. Nearly all focus on political or structural issues. Did the Republican primary voters pick terrible candidates? Why didn’t the Republican hierarchy spend more money on candidates x, y, or z? Is Trump’s endorsement the kiss of death in a general election? Why didn’t the Republicans better prepare for voting fraud and manipulation? But what nearly everyone fails to understand is that this election further amplified that this nation has effectively and permanently split into two countries tenuously living side-by-side,
