Billionaire Jeff Bezos said people can prepare for recession by holding off on buying big-ticket items like TVs and cars as he predicts the US economy may be in contraction by 2023.
Americans can 'take risk off the table' by keeping their cash for a rainy day, said the Amazon founder as he outlined his top tips for surviving a recession.
Speaking to CNN Business, the entrepreneur said people should hold off on big purchases and keep some 'dry powder' for the future.

Coincidence that all these companies waited til after the midterms to announce the layoffs coming? I don’t think so. Gee, I hope Bezos survives the coming recession. Poor baby.

I wonder when obumbum will start talking about giving his money away. After all at some point you’ve made enough and he can’t take it with him even if those around him constantly whisper in his (r)ear that he can.

A recession and inflation would not be necessary, if government quit spending on Ukraine, the climate hoax, Democrat slush funds, and allowed the energy companies to produce energy.

Hey, Bezos, you are one of the main fascist enablers of the causes of the recession/depression. Well, thanks buddy, now go flush your head.

On the other hand, with inflation out the wazoo, cash becomes worth less and less, things become more and more expensive, and interest rates get higher and higher. Might be a good idea to buy necessary items now rather than later...

This country has been in recession for the last four months. Just because the idiots in D.C. won't admit it, doesn't mean what they say is true.

Everything that's happening is intentional. Remember that.
Why doesn't billionaire Bozo share some of his wealth with the 10k folks he's forwarding to hard times? Why aren't they demanding that of him? It's different when it's his money. Way to save yourself, bozo.

What's wrong Jeff? Afraid there won't be enough for you? Doubt he will cut back on his personal spending.

to Reply #6 - buying locally can be difficult to impossible. A store may have a choice of two products whereas a website may have 25, many of which are not sold in stores. I played that game until I realized I was spending more for gas than a product costs, in order to find it.

#7 makes a good point. If you are planning to but a new(er) car and put it off for a couple of years, it may cost 25% or more by then. FJB and his inflation. I am not saying to deplete your rainy day fund, but just to look ahead.

It is probably smart not to buy a new car now with the inventories of the best new cars so low with dealers asking above MSRP. Wait until next Summer when the new car inventories are about back to normal and when most people due to inflationary financial pressure will not have the available credit rating and/or equity to obtain new car Ioans at reasonable interest rates. Once that happens it’s possible that dealers will be happy to “deal” legitimately with the remaining potential customers. Who knows for sure!

We just had our bi-annual servicing on our HVAC system and the technician said that it had about 2 years of life left. We went ahead and coughed up the cash to replace it, thinking that a new system will probably not even be available in 2 years and if it is, it will cost twice what it costs now. Not to mention, will there still be any technicians left who can install one?
I canceled Amazon a couple of years ago though I do use it as a search engine - I go to the site to find what I need and then buy it directly from the manufacturer, skipping the Amazon middle man.

Don’t worry. Now that the Republicans have control of the House of representatives, you can be sure that it will be their fault, and their fault only, as the economy tanks even further during the next two years.

Oh poor Jeffie! Couple of things. First I did not do to well in my college economics so if I am wrong about this please forgive me. A recession slows down the economy. When the economy slows demand which causes prices to go down. If this is the case you may get a better deal on your new care or television. Also the hot housing market is crashing right now. You may be able to afford that home. Who knows?
As to #6: we live in a rural county (love it here). However, it is a 15 mile drive to get groceries. If you are shopping for many other items you have to drive much farther. Even if we were in an urban county there are many things you just can not find in a local store.

On a brighter note....WE the people are very adept at surviving....WE need no counsel from a billionaire to watch our pocketbooks....perhaps he needs to check his fuel supply for the winter and stock up on goods for the next bumpy ride....it's the biden/flation coming this year and next....and no amount of changing the narrative will change what the democrats have brought to our shores....
