More than 2,600 federal officials either own or have traded stock in companies their agencies oversee, according to a damning report by the Wall Street Journal.
The report also found that officials frequently traded stock in companies shortly before their agencies announced enforcement actions that affected the price of those companies.
At the Department of Defense for example, some officials held stock in Chinese companies that the U.S. was considering blacklisting. Tech stocks seem to be particularly popular for federal officials to trade, with the Wall Street Journal finding over 1,800 officials who own or traded Google (through parent company Alphabet), Amazon, Apple, and Facebook (now known as Meta), a trend that coincides

A top election official in Pennsylvania says the state will disregard the U.S. Supreme Court's guidance on counting mail-in ballots arriving in envelopes with typos or incorrect dates, saying that the state's Commonwealth Court has already established the practice as licit.
Pennsylvania's election laws have historically required voters to include a signature and date on the outside of return envelopes when voting by mail.
However, acting Secretary of State Leigh Chapman announced that Pennsylvania election officials should continue counting ballots that arrive with improperly filled-out envelopes, in accordance with the Commonwealth Court's previous ruling on the matter.

A federal judge on Wednesday rejected former President Donald Trump's attempt to delay answering questions under oath next week in a defamation lawsuit brought by journalist E. Jean Carroll.
U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York denied Trump's request to substitute the U.S. government into the case as a defendant, on the grounds that the alleged defamation occurred when he was president.
That request is a "second bite at the apple," Kaplan said.
Wednesday's ruling clears the way for Trump to be deposed Oct. 19.

Inflation is increasingly important to a broadening super-majority of Americans even as the Federal Reserve’s efforts to slow down price hikes have driven up interest rates at the fastest pace in decades.
Seventy-four percent of American adults rate the inflation issue as “very important,” according to a recent poll from the Economist and YouGov. The poll was taken of 1,500 American adults between October 1st and 3rd.
That’s a big jump from 64 percent in the poll a month earlier.
ixty-two percent of voters say President Joe Biden’s economy is deteriorating just 29 days from the midterm elections, a Civiqs poll found Monday.
Only 17 percent of respondents say Biden’s economy is getting better. Seventeen percent say it is staying the same.
Seventy percent believe the current condition of Biden’s economy is very bad or fairly bad. Just 25 percent say it is very good or fairly good.

In Los Angeles, the truth leaked out: Three top Latino Democrat bigshots running the city through its council, Council President Nury Martinez, and council members Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León, along with a top public employee union leader, Ron Herrera, are flaming racists.
One of them, the council president, Nury Martinez, was caught on a leaked tape calling a black two-year-old child 'like a monkey' and said she'd like to give the toddler "a beatdown." Another, council member Kevin de León, compared the child with his two white gay parents as a thing they carried around like a "handbag."
No one imagined this was feasible. Every expert put the timeline for repair at around a year. However, the git r’ done crews and the Florida Dept of Transportation have accomplished a massive feat of reconstruction in phenomenal time. Major kudos to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the construction crews who worked every hour of every day, day and night, for two straight weeks and have created/built a temporary bridge to Sanibel Island.
When President Biden announced he was pardoning those charged under federal law with possession of marijuana, he added that he’s looking into “how marijuana is scheduled under federal law,” which to many meant he’s moving toward decriminalizing. “Too many lives have been upended because of our failed approach to marijuana.”
Biden is right about lives being upended because of the federal government’s current approach to pot, and that putting marijuana in the same category as heroin makes little sense. But anyone pushing for legalized marijuana should look at what’s going on in California before cheering this on.
Ever since the experimental Covid-19 ‘vaccine’ was introduced, a staggering and horrifying phenomenon has been sweeping the Western world. We have seen it happen to athletes, performers, musicians, news anchors, soldiers, high schoolers, healthcare workers, random people, politicians, and so on. People have been dropping to the ground like flies because of heart-related issues that are, in virtually every case, caused by an adverse reaction to the mRNA jab.
It’s undeniable; the rise in these life-threatening incidents has a clear and proven culprit (as numerous studies have shown a clear link between the mRNA spike protein and the litany of complications that are arising).
We assume that — with computers, cell phones, and social media — our kids enjoy advantages that previous generations lacked. Sadly, American kids growing up today are missing developmental opportunities that used to be taken for granted. Quality of life as experienced by Americans in 2022 has deteriorated. It is a sad commentary on the state of our civilization.

NBC correspondent Dasha Burns broke news Tuesday when she revealed on both MSNBC and NBC Nightly News that Pennsylvania Democrat Senate candidate John Fetterman is in worse shape than originally thought after his near-debilitating stroke.
While previewing her exclusive interview with Fetterman, Burns told viewers that his “campaign required close captioning technology for this interview to essentially read our questions as we asked them.”
She went on to note that “in small talk before the interview without captioning, it wasn't clear he was understanding our conversation.”
