After Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom's state Energy Commission accused Valero Energy of price gouging and ordered an "explanation" from the company on the high price of gas in California, Valero sent a lengthy letter putting Newsom in his place and explaining why his answer is waiting in the mirror. In doing so, the energy producer also exposed the true goal of Democrats' pain-is-the-point energy agenda.
"As the Commission knows, and as countless investigations have demonstrated, market drivers of supply and demand, together with government-imposed costs and specifications, determine market price," Valero's letter begins, explaining the basics of Econ 101 since apparently Newsom missed that lesson

I bet Newsom never took a course in accounting, economics, finance, marketing, money and banking or management. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

As a VLO stockholder, bravo.
And if the California market isn't profitable, I have no problem with VLO selling their California assets to a sucker ... oops, I mean another operator. With a profitable return to VLO as well.

Agreed #3. The very people who continue to vote for these people - mostly state and local government employees - need to suffer pain so hard and stressful that they either quit and move (to another blue state hell-hole with lower gas prices) or make a real change. I suspect the former rather than the latter since they are intellectually stupid and lazy.

When one has no solutions, all that's left is blaming others.
Exhibit A: Gavin Newsome.

Thank you, thank you to Townhall. I have just found my election bumper sticker: ''pain-is-the-point'' and since it is already too late to have it printed, I'll just have to use white shoe polish on the back window ala ''Just Married.'' PAIN is the POINT! (FJB, Incorporated)

California has done all it can to ensure they have their own unique boutique blend of gasoline. This limits the ability of other states from refining gasoline, and there are no pipelines to assist either.
They are buying more oil from foreign governments too.
Despite having a 100% increase in their population they have not built a new refinery in over 40 years.
When the Richmond fire destroyed a section of that refinery, they requested to add capacity to that location, but the enviro-groups said they'd demand a whole new EIR, which would have delayed restoring the refinery quickly, and decided to table the idea of expanding capacity instead of fighting the endless lawsuits.
Not once did Sacramento decide to intervene and see it as an opportunity to add capacity that would help reduce prices.
Don't forget, California governments are paying more for police, fire, ambulances, and all of the other vehicles used by state, county and city employees too.

This sums up why he was almost impeached. He is a very stupid man. He still thinks that being a horrible governor that nearly was impeached would make a good presidential candidate! Not the sharpest tool in the tool shed! His policies are causing people and companies to flee California and he still thinks he would make a good presidential candidate. What a Delusional egomaniac!

Earlier I read the entire letter from Valero. One of the tidbits not cited in the article; California once had 40 refineries, we now have 18.
By some act of God, please may the Republican win the governorship this November. (I've got to find out that guy's name!)
