WASHINGTON— The House has passed legislation to overhaul the rules for certifying the results of a presidential election as lawmakers accelerate their response to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and Donald Trump’s failed attempt to remain in power. The bill, which is similar to bipartisan legislation moving through the Senate, would overhaul an arcane 1800s-era statute known as the Electoral Count Act that governs, along with the U.S. Constitution, how states and Congress certify electors and declare presidential election winners. While that process has long been routine and ceremonial, Trump and a group of his aides and lawyers unsuccessfully tried to exploit loopholes in the law

His later work wasn’t as good but it was still damned good. But Burns, like so many leftists, is now so riddled with hatred for Republicans that he cheapens his every utterance and destroys his own legacy. The latest example is how he’s used his upcoming documentary, The US and the Holocaust, to bash modern Republicans and cover for WWII-era Democrats.

The massive inflow of President Joe Biden’s foreign migrants into New York City is causing a crisis in the city’s chaotic and expensive housing market. Welcoming Democrats are trying to fix their self-inflicted problem by deporting some of the migrants to lower-wage employers in peripheral cities, and by holding other migrants in unused cruise liners. Local and migrants are also competing for housing spaces, including at one 1,000-bed shelter, the New York Post reported on September 19, saying:

Eighteen-year-old Cayler Ellingson was hit and killed by a man driving a car in McHenry, North Dakota. Now, that’s a horrible story, but the initial facts coming out on the case make it even more troubling: It wasn’t an accident. Ellingson had been out at a street dance when he called his mother to rescue him, because he said he was being chased by 41-year-old Shannon Brandt. But by the time she reached him, Cayler was dead. What Brandt allegedly admitted about the killing was chilling. “He was the one who called 911 to report the crash,” said North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind. Court papers show Brandt called 911

Ron DeSantis is running for president. No, he hasn’t announced his candidacy or started flying off to Iowa or New Hampshire. But he is refining his pitch to voters, and I have to say he makes a strong case. I admit that I am biased. I think Ron DeSantis is the smartest and most compelling Republican politician since Ronald Reagan. This is not a slam on former president Trump. Love him or hate him, Trump took a moribund Republican Party and created an entirely new political coalition that will endure long after he exits the stage. Trump deserves credit for a Republican rebirth and for exposing the fundamental corruption
