On September 15, 2022, Legal Insurrection Foundation held what I think was the best of our many online events. It was a night to hear from the inside about the Gibson’s Bakery v. Oberlin College case, we have covered since the inception of the shoplifting incident through trial and appeal, and on to the announcement that Oberlin College “has initiated payment in full of the $36.59 million judgment in the Gibson’s Bakery case”.[Snip]One of the things we learned during the event was that Legal Insurrection and our readers were closely watched by the Gibsons and their counsel (and I assume the college and its counsel).

The Biden administration issued an executive order calling for biotechnology that can “predictably program biology in the same way in which we write software and program computers,” a transhumanist practice, in service of human “health.” As an example of such biotechnology, Executive Order 14081 included by implication the COVID-19 mRNA injections, citing the COVID-19 “pandemic” as demonstrating “the vital role of biotechnology … in developing and producing life-saving … vaccines that protect Americans and the world.”[Snip]However, while the proteins produced by the mRNA shot were touted as beneficial, evidence has emerged that

Last week, Oberlin College announced it would pay Gibson’s Bakery the sum of $36.59 million in damages and attorney’s fees. With litigation now concluded, members of the community are reflecting on the circumstances of the original incident and the culmination of five years of litigation. Karen Schaefer is an Oberlin resident who has worked as a freelance public radio journalist for the last 20 years and has written about the College on a number of occasions.[Snip]“You have to remember that this was the night after the election of 2016 had occurred,” Schaefer continued “I think everybody in this town, which is mostly liberal,

Last night we had an hour-plus conversation with Lorna Gibson, and trial attorneys Lee Plakas and Owen Rarric. It was our best event so far. We will post the full event video in the next few days. But I wanted Legal Insurrection readers and commenters to hear the praise Lee and Lorna gave us. They read the posts nightly and gained strength from the comments.[Snip]Lee Plakas, lead trial counsel: We’d like to thank Professor Jacobson. And we’d like to thank all of the readers[Snip]we had a billion dollar bully doing everything they possibly could to destroy this iconic bakery.

Harry and Meghan's children will reportedly not be granted HRH status when they are appointed by prince and princess by King Charles III. Archie, three, and Lilibet, one, are expected to be officially made prince and princess in the near future as Charles has agreed to issue a Letters Patent to grant the titles. But following tense talks between the new King over recent days, the Sussexes have been left 'furious' that their children will not also get HRH titles. [Snip]'They have been relentless since the Queen died. But they have been left furious that Archie and Lilibet cannot take the title HRH.

Legal Insurrection led the way on coverage of the Gibson’s Bakery v. Oberlin College case, from the initial November 2016 protests, through the lawsuit proceedings and trial (the only national outlet with a reporter in the courtroom every single trial day), through the first appeal, then through the Ohio Supreme Court refusing to hear the case.[Snip]Now that the case is over, we are honored to present a live online event on Thursday evening, September 15, starting at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, featuring Lorna Gibson (wife of the late David Gibson) and the Gibson’s Bakery lead trial attorneys, Lee Plakas, Esq. and Owen Rarric, Esq.

Meghan Markle publicly stepped out with Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton on Saturday to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. The four were photographed viewing a massive sea of floral tributes laid outside Windsor Castle in honor of the late monarch. The outing marked the first time the two couples have all appeared in public together since Commonwealth Day on March 9, an appearance that was marked by awkward greetings and grim faces. We’re told it was William who extended the invite to his estranged brother and wife.[Snip]Earlier in the day, other royal family members gathered

After years of legal wrangling, Oberlin College has announced that, following the Ohio Supreme Court’s decision not to hear its appeal, it is beginning the process of paying in full the judgment against it for libeling Gibson’s Bakery and promoting a boycott. William A. Jacobson of Legal Insurrection, which has covered the case more closely than any other media outlet, announced the happy news: [Snip] Oberlin’s endowment reportedly is in the neighborhood of a billion dollars, so this sum--the original judgment plus interest, while painful, is not about to bankrupt it.

OBERLIN - The crowd milling around outside Gibson’s Bakery at midday Wednesday wasn’t there to protest. It was there to spend, spend, spend in hopes of keeping the 137-year-old business alive. “We didn’t want people to think we were demonstrating or rallying or anything like that,” said Mike Bokulich, a Navy veteran and founding member of the Lunch Bunch. In the past two years, the group has traveled to more than 90 restaurants around Lorain County and just outside its borders.[Snip]“We want to help Allyn and his mother. They’re slaving up there in the bakery…sweating like mad, trying to keep the business afloat,” Bokulich said.

A federal judge in Florida has granted Donald Trump's request to have a special master review the documents seized during the raid on Mar-a-Lago – granting a key demand of the former president and tapping the breaks on the government's investigation. Judge Aileen Cannon approved Trump's motion to appoint a special master 'to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney client and/or executive privilege.' [Snip] That grants Trump and his legal team a side benefit of stalling the fast-moving proceedings that have unfolded since the August 8 FBI search of Mar-a-Lago.

Oberlin College was shocked when it found out the Catholic-run health agency it chose to outsource for student health services is…Catholic. It’s always Oberlin College. Why is it always Oberlin College!? The Catholic Church urges natural family planning (which, after the experience, is relatively easy!) instead of artificial birth control. That includes birth control pills and tubal ligation (tying the fallopian tubes to stop ovulation).(Snip)...I find it impossible for people not to know the Church’s teaching on abortion, artificial birth control, sex, pregnancy, and gender.(Snip)NPR and Oberlin College ruin their argument by including the “workaround” portion in the article.

I build my whole life on words, but I know that a message that goes unsaid can carry just as much weight as 1,000 words carelessly spewed forth in distortion. I found it telling over the past week since I wrote in this space last Sunday about Oberlin College bringing on a Catholic agency to run its Student Health Services(Snip) that Oberlin College’s only public response, to this paper, was to issue a statement claiming its actions had been “inaccurately characterized” in recent media reports.(Snip)The Chronicle requested a copy of any contract with Bon Secours that would outline whether the provider, which has long practiced under Catholic healthcare directives, had promised to provide contraception and gender-affirming care. The college refused to furnish one.CORRECTION*
