In August, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin reached a deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer under which the coal state lawmaker would cast the deciding vote in favor of Democrats' $745 billion Inflation Reduction Act in exchange for a promise from Democratic leaders to include language streamlining the oil and gas permitting process in the next continuing resolution. Now that House progressives are blocking the inclusion of permitting reform in the CR, Manchin is lashing out at GOP leaders for "revenge politics," blaming them for failing to deliver Republican votes to uphold the promise Schumer made to obtain Manchin's vote for a budget-busting tax and spending bill

The only way Manchin will not be the senator is if he decides not to run. The people of WV believe any bs he puts forth and think he has changed. He’s done this constantly and gets away with it. Hope I’m wrong but history is on my side.

From on the ground in West Virginia--Joe was reelected by 49.6% in a 3-way contest. Those voting against him will continue that tradition, and every democrat I have spoken to seems committed to voting against him in 2024 because they understand the damage he did to the economy by voting the way Schumer told him to do. Weasel Joe has got to go--with respect to all natural weasels.

Even Politico was selling the narrative yesterday that it was the GOP "getting even" with Manchin.

Exactly WHY would the Republicans be expected to bail out his sorry rear end? As Grandma always said, He made his Bed, now he has to lay in it"! I would bet he knows he's in big trouble in WV! Maybe he will try to jump to the Republican side to save himself. I'm not sure the Republicans would take him!!

Traitor Joe is wrong Schumer used revenge politics on Joe Manchin for holding out then wanting to change the democrat spending theft there was none left for Joe. Joe Manchin has to go home to explain to the coal industry his faux pas.

If Manchin cut a deal with his fellow Rats and they're now reneging, that's on them. The GOP owes him nothing, and the fact that he's now trying to turn the blame on the GOP just goes to show what a piece of trash he really is.

Oh h*ll no, Manchin, you and Schumer own this, it is not the fault of Republicans, especially when members of your own party wrote that nice letter to Pelosi saying they would not support your little deal with Schumer. Schumer had no intentions of honoring whatever the h*ll he told you. You caved, you betrayed, and now YOU will suffer the consequences. Republicans will committ political suicide if they bail your butt out. Screw you, screw Schumer and most of all screw Biden.

Manchin has always looked to me like an impeccably dressed crook. Bull's eye. If you wait long enough, I say, all things will eventually come out in the wash.
I hope he is well repaid for his actions.

Seems I'd have the deal done before I signed on the bottom line.
Manchin's only "negotiating" leverage would have been to join the Republican caucus and turn the Senate 51-49 Republican. His failure to vote against either phony impeachment told me where his loyalties lie.
And they're the same guys who hosed him.

He got played and now needs to find someone to blame.
It was interesting now the Progressive Democrats were against all of the "goodies" Manchin "secured" from the very moment he cast his vote to move forward with the CR.
And, sadly the suckers are the American people who now have been force-fed the Green New Deal under cover of the CR and what they still call and "emergency".
That train is now rolling down the tracks, folks.
