DeSantis is trying out his presidential
pitch, and it's a good one

Ron DeSantis is running for president. No, he hasn’t announced his candidacy or started flying off to Iowa or New Hampshire. But he is refining his pitch to voters, and I have to say he makes a strong case. I admit that I am biased. I think Ron DeSantis is the smartest and most compelling Republican politician since Ronald Reagan. This is not a slam on former president Trump. Love him or hate him, Trump took a moribund Republican Party and created an entirely new political coalition that will endure long after he exits the stage. Trump deserves credit for a Republican rebirth and for exposing the fundamental corruption

To secure the pub nom in 2024 you'll have to be a populist neo-isolationist who idolizes Tucker Carlson and the space aliens. I don't know if DeSantis qualifies.

Totally disagree #1. Americans are fed up with phony corrupt politicians in their dotage. Time for new blood and DeSantis has what it takes. Trump blazed the trail and we should be forever grateful.

Trump was the right man at the right time. He exposed the media and the government corruption that we always suspected but never really knew the depth of. He's definitely taken one for the team and opened the door for DeSantis.

A feel good massage for the squeamish dump Trumpers this morning. I guess Ron can now just step aside from his run for governor. That will clear the field for ???? to maintain republican control of Tallahassee . Nothing like starting off a run for president by duping your base.

Governor DeSantis will run for Governor and win. If it should happen that Trump doesn't run, The Governor will be ready to step in and be a winner for the Republican Party in 24. We MUST win in 24 and right now, He is our best hope (if Trump is out)! So, I hope my Fellow Republicans don't start to tear DeSantis down. If they succeed, we are in trouble in 2024! And we all know the Democrats will run The Fonz from California as their Candidate. Biden will be out! So we had better be ready for someone who can go up against him. I think DeSantis could beat him because his RECORD of his accomplishments in Florida far out does Pretty Boy Gavin's Record in CA!

# 8 makes an important point. Governor Ron still has plenty to do here in FL and well knows it. He is not a conventional politician with his eye always on the next rung on the ladder. If DeSantis were to run for president now his career would be ruined: his FL base would feel betrayed, his popularity would consequently crater, and he would be subjecting his young family (including his recently very ill wife) to an ordeal no civilized people should have to endure. 2024 is not his year.

Trump was the best President that Israel ever had. I’ll vote for DeSantis as many times as possible in order to keep Jared and Ivanka from ever entering the White House again. And for the Charlie Brown’s wanting another shot at kicking the football, TRUMP is the one who protected the medical community from being sued for ALL of the harm they’ve done via vaccines and all of the nonsense surrounding covid. Some folks are stuck on stupid so please, PLEASE, do the world a favor and go get another Trump vaccine.

We need President Trump back in the WH for the gitback if for nothing else. He has a ton of scores to settle, and I'm okay with him using the power of the Presidency (legally, and it so can be done) to get US some justice against all the crimes committed by these evil leftists over the decades. He needs a strong Congress though, and they all need to hire some of US, not those traitor career folks. PDT cannot do it all by himself. We need strong conservative governors to stay right where they are; our states need fixing too. There's too much focus on Washington, and we need to change that by reducing, slashing everything in Washington down to politicians living at home and traveling to Washington only for emergencies. Everything else they do can be done virtually. Nobody in government should be making as much as Fauci and his wife--almost a million dollars! We could pay off these trillions that we owe if we decimate government agencies and seize the wealth of leftist criminals. Let's see how they like being taxed out of their wealth.

After Martha’s Vineyard and now Rehoboth Beach, DeSantis has thrown down the gauntlet. If you think that the left was insane in their treatment of PDT, just wait and see what they will try to do to DeSantis. I know that he is tough enough to withstand it and to keep throwing it right back in their faces, but I want PDT to have the second term that he rightfully and legally won. He deserves it and so do we.

In the admittedly small survey of the less than 10 people I know who live in Florida, not one of them wants DeSantis to run in '24. They want 4 more years of him in the governor's office to continue and expand on the policies and push-backs he is championing. Survey says...2028.

Having DeSantis as a role model for what a governor should be doing has been extremely valuable! If I got to choose, I would want Rand Paul. No politician has been as consistent on his constitutional stand. He one of very few who are opposing Fauci's reign of terror. And he has known since he was old enough to listen to his Dad that the international elites are running this country with the Federal Reserve.

Winning in 2022 is important, and hopefully we will make significant gains. Winning in 2024 is critical, and has to be our top priority. Right now it appears that DeSantis give us our best chance of winning. He's very smart, his policies are great, and he has a very effective governing style. I think the Dems are hoping to run against a battered up Trump with lots of drama surrounding him. I think they know that many independents and women are tired of the drama and want to move on (from Biden too). I'll be forever grateful for Trump's service to the country, but I'm afraid he still doesn't do well with independents and women to win. And like I said, winning is critical.

According to the survey of 413 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, 42 percent want DeSantis to be the party’s nominee two years from now, while 35 percent would prefer former president Donald Trump. It was conducted in the immediate aftermath of Tuesday’s disappointing returns for the GOP. Support for a potential Donald Trump 2024 presidential bid has remained relatively steady over the last year and a half, data from a Morning Consult survey found. While the survey asserts that Trump’s support has “dipped” in recent months, it is actually exactly the same as the survey taken in May 2021, which showed 48 percent of potential GOP voters supporting him. It is true, however, that he reached a high of 57 percent in August 2022, only to dip back down to 48 percent in November.Florida Gov. The obvious big winner for the Republicans in last Tuesday's midterm election is Florida's governor, Ron DeSantis. Not only did he hold on to his current job, but the overwhelming margin of his victory and the effectiveness of his statewide coattails have led him to eclipse Donald Trump as the party's true figurehead. I actually suspect that this was the plan all along — that Mr. Trump is really in no way eager to remain the media's punching bag. Now that DeSantis has proven his popularity, the transition to a more politically adept and comparable problem-solver will continue.
