New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday filed suit against former President Donald Trump, his kids Eric, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., and the Trump Organization — alleging “staggering” fraud in the family real estate business, court records show.
James’ office has been investigating the Trump Organization for over three years to determine whether the company’s assets were exaggerated for loan, insurance and tax purposes.
The 222-page suit, which also names ex-Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, says the defendants “engaged in numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation in the preparation of Mr.
Trump’s annual statements

You would think that it would be incumbent upon any lender to perform their due diligence to determine if the collateral or property offered to secure such a loan is genuine and meets their lending requirements. Any financial entity from who the Trump Organization would secure a loan would surely have the professional resources to do that. So this looks like more Democrat political persecution.

The NY AG has standing to bring an IRS fraud case? I thought that was a federal issue, and have been audited by the IRS every year, according to Trump and his accounting firm. As for personal financial statements, they are not audited by independent accountants, and are a listing of assets by the owner, and the owner's opinion of fmv. Every asset based lender has appraisers that make their independent valuations of an assets fmv, and that becomes the basis for any loans approved by the lender. Further, any loans are contracted between the lender and the borrower. The AG of NY is not a party to any of those contracts, and has no standing to bring suits based on them. The lenders have not filed any lawsuits regarding these loans. As for property taxes, the State of NY has a very large appraisal district that visits the property and issues an appraisal. Trump would have nothing to do with NY property appraisals. As for Trump, his lawyers have been very weak to date, and I think he needs more competent, and aggressive and competent legal representation.

The US people have seen plenty of staggering fraud: Russiagate, the Mueller show, Adam Schiff's non-existent evidence, and of course the 2020 general election. What do they all have in common? You have one guess.

To claim fraud of this kind there has to be harm -- e.g., someone invested and lost money, some insurance company paid too much, a loan wasn't repaid, etc.
There is zero evidence of any such harm, and none is even alleged.
I could claim to own the Brooklyn Bridge. If I didn't manage to sell it, there is no action to be had.

Why would anyone “exaggerate” their assets for insurance or tax purposes? It would cost them more money. This makes NO sense. Any financial institution loaning money on property would have it appraised first.
This stinks like a whorehouse at low tide.

I'll admit that I'm kind of a "Cut off my nose to spite my face" guy, but if I was Trump, I'd emulate Ellis Wyatt.
Do the equivalent of a "Wyatt's Torch", evacuate and then level every New York property I own. Leave a note:
I am leaving it as I found it. Take over. It's yours.
Let them enjoy the billion or so dollars a year less tax money that Trump NY operations provide to New York.
The vacant lots would be a nice place for them to set up tent cities for their homeless, although they wouldn't hold as many people , or as comfortably as the Trump skyscrapers did.

Isn't it funny that no fraud was ever alleged at the Trump organization in, 2016 in spite of a desperate effort to find something. Now that has shown what a threat he is to the left, and may run again in 2020, they're hell bent on finding anything to derail him. Leftist troll Letitia "Lucretia" James just managed to find something where others always failed?? Smells like a fishing expedition to me.

For poster #5, every bank et al. DOES send their own authenticator, and these were a number of banks so a number of on the spot authentications. For all Republicans in NYC, beware. EVERY builder etc. puts a high number on their assets, and that is check on by the potential lender: due diligence. If these strictures by James were followed, there would be no building in N.Y.

Suing? Not indicting? That means she doesn't have a criminal case. This is a Civil case. Which means the standard for judgement against the defendant is lower. And it means she has nothing criminal. Civil doesn't have the level of urgency as criminal. I imagine Trump's team will draw this out until this AG is out of office. Then see if the new AG wants to follow in a fool's footsteps. This is nothing more that release of bowel gas claiming its a hurricane.

Gee, assets were exaggerated for loan, insurance and tax purposes.
All that means is that a huge business, golf course or hotel has to be valuated at an amount BOTH parties agree to.
If you wanted to sell your home three or so months ago, you could do the same thing, name your price.
Now, not so much.
Letitia is barking up a tree that proves she's unfit to even be Atty Gen.
Mutual agreements are just that: Mutual Agreements.

The average clueless voter gets the siren song choice between “free stuff” and Stepford Soros’ AGs’ OBSESSION to “get” Trump. What the foolish voters don’t see it that their individual freedoms are abridged every year by zealots acting “for your own good, fool.” Has NY Democrat rule made NYC a better place to live after so many years of Democrat rule? NOT even close.

Letitia James campaigned on "getting" Trump and that is what she is doing, regardless of whether it is justified or not. But as with everything else that has been mounted against him, Trump shall prevail. His enemies do not understand that at this point, NOTHING they say or do against Trump will influence his supporters (of which I am one) to abandon him. To the contrary, every attack they mount causes Trump's supporters to solidify their position in his favor. The sides have been clearly drawn up; there is no middle ground left, there are no bystanders, no neutrals. James is pursuing this because it gives her, and by extension, all the other sufferers of TDS a perverted, sick pleasure, like that of a child who gets pleasure out of tormenting an animal, or a schoolyard bully--a clear sign of mental illness.

Contrast the details of the alleged offenses of Trump against the state of New York, as recited by Letitia in what amounts to a political advertisement, with the lack of information provided by AG Garland regarding the MAL raid, outside of leaks to the leftist media. One can easily conclude that Letitia intentionally went on TV to completely corrupt the jury pool in New York. The main take-away from her TV advertisement is that only democrats, under the color of law, can freely abuse American citizens with whom they find political disagreement. The resolution of this mess is not on Trump's attorneys to resolve; it is squarely on the American people, who must shake off the inertia created by the Jan 6 trap.

Sooo...what she is "Making a Federal Case" over, differences of opinions about values of dozens of properties, over more than 20 years, where lenders, investors Ins companies all MADE profits, were paid in full, freely and enthusiastically signed contracts, by her reckoning $250Milion over 20 years...is LESS than the BLM "management" folks siphoned away in a single year. But she was wholeheartedly in support of THEM blocking off a major NYC thoroughfare and painting their messages on it right in FRONT of Trump Tower.
I walked through the room as she was talking...and she Intentionally and forcefully was claiming that "Pleading the Fifth" was the same as "Admitting Guilt"...the Law requires she NOT make/mention any such concept, or risk dismissal of the case and potential disbarment..

So, how much fraud by democrats is this harpy going to allow to continue? Meanwhile, she forgets the reality that all the tax codes Trump used for decades was written during the 46 years that DEMOCRATS wrote when they had an unbroken control of the House. Trump mentioned this during his campaign and the media sure shut up fast. Time to slam them again Mr. President.

First of all what tax does she allege, was underpaid as a result of her claim of fraud? Certainly NOT NYC real estate taxes as they are based on cash flows from the property not anyone's assigned value. State and Federal inco.e taxed are not based on this either. Second which lender did not get paid as a result of her allegations. If she can't prove harm she and her suit are S#!÷ outa luck.
