Until two years ago I was the typical cable subscriber forced to pay for ESPN. Woke kneeling athletes soured me entirely on that waste of money so I cut cable and went to streaming services. I admit I miss seeing sporting events as easily as I once did but have no intention of going back.

My cable company does not offer a package that doesn't have ESPN. And I never watch it. But I can't do without cable because they changed over the air TV to digital and now I can't pick up anything. Before DTV I could get every channel with only indoor rabbit ears. Now even with an outside antenna I can't get anything at all.

Picture it Norfolk VA in the year of our Lord 1996. A young USN sailor stationed on a ship at the largest Naval base in the US standing weekend duty. Coming fresh off of the morning Quarterdeck watch and getting ready to eat lunch (sliders (hamburgers for you non-military types, :-) French fries). ESPN on one TV playing NASCAR with NBC playing the NBA Finals with the man himself MJ executing his fade away jump shot. Back then it was fun to watch the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network. But much like how the Cable News Network has strayed away from news and become leftist propaganda they've strayed away from entertaining sports and become the same. As a result I am no longer that young sailor who enjoyed watching the channel. I'm the guy who hasn't watched since the Boston Celtics last won the NBA title. Like poster #1 said and I'll add Marvel and Star Wars to that list.

With that extensive line-up of women's sporting events, I would think ESPN would be drawing big support, even from this crowd. It appears before the ladies boycott, they might consider the audience already has. I haven't had cable for years. I don't miss ESPN or its spinoffs whatever. It's a network where sports go to die in obscurity.

Most of a Florida law that sought to stop social media companies from restricting users’ political speech violates the companies’ free speech rights and cannot be enforced, a federal appeals court ruled on Monday, agreeing with a lower court. However, a three-judge panel of the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals revived a part of the law requiring companies like Meta Platforms’ Facebook, Alphabet Google and Twitter to disclose the standards they use to moderate content on their platforms. The unanimous decision was authored by Circuit Judge Kevin Newsom, who was appointed by Republican former President Donald Trump.

Judy Garland's iconic blue-and-white gingham dress from the "Wizard of Oz" was expected to sell at auction before the sale was blocked by a U.S. district judge Monday after a Wisconsin woman filed a lawsuit claiming she was the rightful owner of the dress. The dress originally had a presale estimate of $800,000 to $1.2 million, set by auctioneer Bonhams. It was put up for sale in Los Angeles by the Catholic University of America as part of an auction specifically for Hollywood memorabilia. The dress had been rediscovered in a shoebox by a university lecturer and operations manager after having been assumed lost for decades,

Curtis Heide was the lead agent in the FBI’s Chicago field office back in 2016. Today he testified at Michael Sussmann’s trial and mentioned that he is currently under internal investigation by the FBI for possibly withholding exculpatory evidence in portions of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. Heide said he was under investigation for “not identifying exculpatory information as it pertained to one of the Crossfire Hurricane investigations,” referring to the FBI codename for the early phases of the Trump-Russia probe, before special counsel Robert Mueller took over in 2017. He said he was specifically being investigated for potentially withholding material from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, which oversees wiretaps against Americans.

The San Francisco Examiner's editorial board wrote a scathing rebuke of the city’s archbishop, Salvatore Cordileone, after he announced he would deny Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Holy Communion, over her staunch support for abortion. (snip) In response, the liberal editorial board blasted the Catholic leader for "punishing" Pelosi, instead of "right-wing politicians" who "[vote] against health care or funding for the poor." They defended Pelosi as a leader who has "consistently fought on the morally right side of these issues," and praised her as a role model for women. The editorial board argued that by denying Pelosi Holy Communion, the archbishop wasn’t being loyal to Christ.
