A city council in Kansas has voted to walk back a measure that mandated the removal of “In God We Trust” decals from police vehicles after constituents pushed back against the ban, KWCH reported. At the May 2 council meeting in Haven, Councilmember Sandra Williams made a motion to nix the “In God We Trust” decals in addition to bible scripture posted to the Haven Police Department (HPD) Facebook page, the outlet previously noted. The motion resulted in a unanimous five to zero vote to remove both the decals — which officers purchased themselves months ago — and the scripture from the Facebook page.

A wise person once opined that there are no atheists in a foxhole. The politically correct wokesters on the city council might want to think about that the next time a tornado or some other disaster hits their town.

Ah, but the council hinted at their planned retaliation. The fact that there is Biblical passages on the decals means that other faiths can ask to have their scripture cited also. I'm sure Islam will be the next religion to be represented.

I'm somewhat familiar with the Haven, Kansas area and it's culture. I was a little shocked to hear of the original decision. This is a heavily populated Mennonite area with Yoder to the west which is very densely Amish. I'm thinking that some woke people have moved there who love the quiet, law abiding, work ethic lifestyle who are now trying to push their woke thinking on this conservative community. Three of them actually woke up to reality. The other two are still in lala land. They will hopefully be removed at the next primary.

The San Francisco Examiner's editorial board wrote a scathing rebuke of the city’s archbishop, Salvatore Cordileone, after he announced he would deny Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Holy Communion, over her staunch support for abortion. They defended Pelosi as a leader who has "consistently fought on the morally right side of these issues," and praised her as a role model for women. The editorial board argued that by denying Pelosi Holy Communion, the archbishop wasn’t being loyal to Christ.

ROME — San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone said Friday that he was “guided by the principles articulated by Pope Francis” in his decision to bar House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from receiving Holy Communion because of her aggressive abortion advocacy. In a lengthy interview with Gloria Purvis, Archbishop Cordileone insisted that he cannot judge Ms. Pelosi’s conscience, but “to be so aggressively promoting it — that’s not what a devout Catholic does. So I believe in her heart, she feels that way, but there is a disconnect on this issue.”

As a pro-life atheist, I’ve never been more confused. That starts with the fact that Ocasio-Cortez is herself Catholic. Does she consider her own faith “fundamentalist”? I presume she’d say the Church requires its members to be pro-life in their private conduct (isn’t she pro-choice?) but doesn’t require them to enshrine their beliefs in public policy. If that’s the case, I’d politely refer her to today’s news. Beyond that, she seems to be arguing that abortion is some sort of religious right. Conservatives have accused the left for years of treating abortion as a sort of sacrament but it turns out we didn’t know the half of it.

For regular readers of this site, today’s news will likely not come as a surprise, but much of the nation seems to remain unaware of it. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) has released its latest reliability assessment for the summer of 2022 and, to put it mildly, the news is not good. In far too many states, the power grid is already nearly at full capacity, and in the next few months, that capacity will be exceeded. This isn’t a question of “if” or really even “when.” It’s just a fact. Industry experts know this and have been trying to sound the alarm for several years.
