A Disney World vacation was once seen as the tradition getaway for the American middle class family, but it is increasingly slipping out of reach.Over the past few years, the prices of tickets for the amusement park have skyrocketed as executives continue to raise the price of food and begin catering to higher-paying clientele. To make matters worse, Disney executives are eliminate cost-saving features at the theme parks, like a free shuttle from the airport and free parking for those staying on the premises. It has also done away with a free option to help people skip the ever-growing lines at certain rides - replacing it instead with a pay service.

Disneyland began to be too expensive when my kids were still young and they are pretty old now… I never cared much for it except that it was immaculately clean. Food was v. expensive. It was fun to go once when it was new and the elder boy was v. small. That was enough.
Oh yes. I forgot. It was fun to take the young wife of a visiting wine negociant from Bordeaux. She had always wanted to go there so I was assigned. We had a hilarious time. She spoke no English; I got no further than “bon jour, madam” and “merci, madam”…But she had brought along her French-English dictionary. Darned near ran me off the road a couple of times. We had many laughs and it was a very special, very different way to see Disneyland. Tha was ine late 70s...

If they can't 'woke' themselves out of business, the brilliant executives will price themselves out of business. Note that my youngest grand-daughter is 17 and has outgrown the Disney BS!

We quit going at $100 per person. It was a lot cheaper when we could opt to buy the A-B-C tickets or just pay to get into the park.

The last time we took the kids to Disneyland in California was in 1996 and with plane tickets from the midwest, a weeks stay at the Disney hotel and 5 days of Disney tickets plus visits to Universal studio and Knottsberry farms, car rental, food, etc, it cost us $5,000 to take 2 teenagers. That was the last big vacation we took with the kids. Much as I would love to go to Disney World, they have priced themselves right out of my vacation budget.

I could afford that, but I last went in about '92 and we said, "Never again". Didn't enjoy it much and the prices were ridiculous then, far more insane now.

I have been a couple of times, but not lately.
It's insane to pay those prices and stand in line all day.
And for rich people to be able to pay to get in ahead of me while I stand in that line is just plain spitting on everyone standing there.
What a rip.

Th last time I went to Disneyland I sat on a park bench near the pond upon which floats a small ship, the Columbia. The place bored me and I wanted to leave. My wife found things a bit tedious as well, but we were in charge of several children and leaving early would have made them go ballistic. I vowed never to return.

I live 90 minutes from Orlando and have never been to disney. If I were to go to an amusement park, I would chose Universal over the rat place. There is also Six Flags in GA. All are easier on the wallet than the rat place.
Walt Disney must be spinning in his grave fast enough to generate electricity with what has happened to his "family oriented" parks!!

For the money it would cost to go there I could do a lot of other things, like make six months worth of house payments or fly about anywhere in the world. I am not going to finance perverts and groomers.

Disneyland today proves that you can buy pleasure but you can't buy happiness. Our entire culture has completely lost sight of that.

Why would anyone want to take their young children to a place that is supporting the grooming of children?

You know, those prices might just be to keep the riffraff out. I’m not talking about middle-income families, I’m talking about day-tripper locals. Packs of local kids who can scrape up the gate fee but have never been exposed to a “manner” in their entire lives.

Too many beautiful mountains, beaches and parks to see in this country to waste money on a bunch of rides and cartoon characters under a hot sun. No thank you. Free admission would not entice me to waste a day in that place. Just like Hollywood, Disney is on the downhill path of disgusting anachronisms.

I live in Orlando. My wife and I get the cheapest yearly pass they offer- around $350 each. We go probably once a month, have a nice meal, have drinks and people watch. We love it.

Disney promotes grooming, lgbtqxyz, pedophilia, teaching kids in kindergarten about twisted sex, and genital mutilation. They’re now promoting this deviation with their toys & stuffed animals all made by a country that released the covid on the world, practices genocide, organ harvesting, & forced labor camps. Disney and other woke corporations are going after our children. It’s a serious problem that can’t be poo poo’d. I hope their stock goes to zero!

Nope. Done with all things Disney. I don’t care if they offered my entire family a free vacation. Until they rid themselves of the systemic perversion that drives the company, I don’t want any part of that vile company. There are some things that cannot be overlooked. Disney’s insistence upon championing the debauched over the well being of children and families is one of them. I would like to see them change course but when you go all in on depravity, it’s nigh to impossible to walk it back. This is all on Disney. They betrayed the trust of their customers.

Take your kids to Mesa Verde in Colorado near the Four Corners. Much better than that made up brightly colored plastic garbage.

Visited there in 1981. The magic kingdom wasn't even finished yet, and they were just starting to knock down trees for Epcot. I don't recall how much tickets were for Disney, but tickets for Sea World were eight dollars. I found the five lanes in each direction for the entrance and exit and the size of the parking lots to be the most amazing thing about the whole place. It was so deserted when I went in Jan. that I was even able to talk to the person dressed as Alice which from what I understand is a no no for Disney visitors. Gorgeous girl who had taken a year off from attending the University of Oklahoma to work at Disney.

Rising gas prices, diesel fuel going through the roof, food shortages and their woke support of JoeBamaBiteMe and sodomy is going to break the "Magic Kingdom"
On the plus side, if the mass of humanity who is not rich does not go, then the rich folks who have $10,000 working a hole in their pockets won't have to stand in line....

No one forces you to go to Disney World. You know what it will cost before you lay down your credit card. The headline makes it sound like the family just got the hospital bill. Do your homework and you won’t be left with sticker shock. Families are not entitled to a Disney vacation. There are plenty of other less expensive options.

It so crowded that nobody goes there anymore...
You can't fix stupid. Disney appeals to the middle age mom who demands her kids get the same thrill she has with the Princesses, Mice, and Ducks. And they will pay whatever from their cookie jar to ride the teacups and collect "autographs" from costumed characters. It's fantasy. We all have them. And many are willing to shell out for them. Disney, like all businesses, has a model that maximizes (they calculate) maximum profits. I don't take umbrage with the purveyor...caveat emptor. This family that blew $8k+ got what it paid for.
