A 10-year employee of steelmaker Arconic has sued the Pittsburgh-based firm after he was fired last year for writing on an internal company web survey that the use of a rainbow to symbolize Gay Pride Month is “an abomination to God.” Daniel Snyder, 63, was employed as a lead operator at Arconic’s Davenport Works in Riverdale, Iowa, beginning in 2011. After his termination, Mr. Snyder found work at a John Deere assembly line at “significantly less” pay, no overtime and “materially reduced” medical benefits, the filing states.(Snip)The complaint alleges the company’s diversity policy “actually punishes diversity of opinion, allowing only one opinion

There goes his ESG score right down the tube. Better wise up. The lesson learned is to keep your opinions to yourself and say the opposite. If he would have said he loves Rainbows and is even thinking of transgendering himself, he would be the hero of the day. A raise and promotion are on the way.

Their use of the word diversity is so Orwellian... of course it means the opposite as we see here.

The employer asked for an opinion.
The employee complied.
The employee is entitled to an opinion.
It's not required that the employer agree.
The employer set up a screening mechanism, designed to expose and remove employees deemed "guilty" of "thought crimes."
May the employee who challenged his employer's authoritarian "screening," win his case, followed by a long and exceptionally well funded retirement, courtesy of his (by now) contrite employer.

It was an anonymous survey. FTA: Mr. Snyder had repeatedly informed his employers that his statements were “based on his sincerely held Christian beliefs” and intended as part of the anonymous survey.
My old employer used to send out anonymous surveys with serial numbers on them. Most of them didn't get returned, despite being assured we would not be tracked.

I don't look at a rainbow any more.
The old word gay, besmirched. No meaning for me.

He was quoting the Bible. I have to wonder, though, what the purpose of the survey was.

Gay is definitely the wrong word to use with these perverts. I don't think I've ever seen a happy, smiling (gay) lgbtqwxyz+ in real life. They all seem angry, all the time.

I think I agree with Snyder. Legally and civilly and in polite society, people can be treated the way they want, but the appropriation of the rainbow symbol in particular ... it is as they say "in God's face," since it is a symbol of reconciliation with Him and is being used by people specifically to silence the churches on the matter of marriage is between one man and one woman. It is annoying Him on purpose to use the rainbow as the symbol of an attack on His word, His people, and the world as He actually made it. Yo. That should get me cancelled.

I agree with him...it really pizzes me off that the immoral QUEER26 (rather than spell it out), stole God's promise of the rainbow for their immorality...don't want to be standing next to them when they finally meet him...

My employer sends out these anonymous surveys a couple times a year. They are over the computer and each responder clicks on a different URL to access it. Sure its anonymous.
One year I told the truth and a few weeks later the section chief engaged me in casual conversation, bringing up a couple peripheral issues I mentioned. He was trying to find out if it was me who made those comments. I made sure to answer completely differently than I did on the survey, and I havent told the truth since.

The guy was asked for his opinion. Based upon this article, there is no claim that the guy set out to insult or denigrate or harass another worker, guest, vendor, or contractor. He believed the survey to be anonymous -- as engagement surveys should be (otherwise folks won't give their true views on how to improve a company's performance).
This company should be in big trouble. I don't agree with the man, but he has a right to his opinion. And expressing it WHEN HIS COMPANY ASKED for it should not be a matter of disciplinary action.

FTA: The comments allegedly offended another worker.
The rainbow flag offended this guy.
I would have called it even and moved on instead of firing him.
