A common narrative from anti-gun activists asserts that more guns equal more crime. But those of us who own guns have known this storyline to be false all along. It never made sense, and now we have data to prove it. According to a recent study by the National Bureau of Economic Research, there is a direct correlation between gun ownership and crime, but that correlation doesn’t align with the storyline from the “guns are bad” crowd. In fact, shocker… it shows just the opposite. The NBER analysis used Tennessee’s database for handgun carry permit holders, and then cross-referenced that data with crime statistics in those zip codes.

the good news is that supply has caught up with demand, whether because buying has slowed due to raising gas/food prices or just because people have run out of places to store ammo..., but both availability and prices of guns and ammo are dropping, and I expect will drop farther. So hoard up your pennies and get ready to grab some bargains

In the seventies, in New Mexico, open carry was the solution to sniping between the indigenous Indians, Chicanos, and Anglos, all of whom carried ancient grudges against each other. That being said, the peace was kept. An armed society is a peaceful society.

This was proven by John Lott, Jr in his book More Guns, Less Crime, which was published in 1998. I had the pleasure to pick up Mr. Lott at the airport and entertain him for several hours before he spoke to a political club here after the book came out. A very interesting man, an economist who was teaching economics at Univ of Chicago and happened to assign a project to some grad students to study the effects of gun control - one of many different topics assigned to students each year. When the results were published, the vicious personal attacks that resulted shocked him, since he had never had any significant response to grad student research papers before, one way or another. He realized that he had "touched a nerve" on a topic that was "apparently forbidden". Not a gun owner, or NRA member he was intrigued, and the more he looked into the topic, the more it seemed to demand a thorough, technically correct, wider ranging look at the topic. That resulted in his book, which looked at every county, compared to itself, before and after concealed carry legislation made it easy for the average person to go armed. In all cases, crimes against persons substantially decreased. And it is still true. This new study by the National Bureau of Economic Research finds precisely the same thing that Lott found about a quarter century ago. More armed citizens means LESS CRIME.

The Cold War stayed that way due to the implementation of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). If crime victims are armed like their attackers, the perps will think twice about committing violent crime, knowing they could just as easily become a victim, as a perpertrator.

In an apparent homage to George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984” — one the rest of us realize is a pointed political allegory but the Biden administration apparently views as a handbook — the Biden White House is establishing a Disinformation Governance Board. Yes, you read that correctly. The government is going to decide what’s true and what’s false, and punish disseminators accordingly. The bureaucrats who run the Department of Homeland security, where this board will be housed, are going to be parsing fact from fiction, obviously to keep us all safe from the scourge of independent judgment and thought.

For most leftists, particularly those who reside in the echo chamber of the mainstream media and under the protection of Big Tech censorship, self-awareness has never been a key component of their skill set. The mindset apparently operates something like this: I’m wonderful, only my opinions matter, all criticisms of me and my work are ill-founded. And for that reason, the ends justify their means, no matter how reprehensible those means may be. Last week, Washington Post reporter (please, let’s stop calling her a journalist) Taylor Lorenz was the subject of widespread mockery as she was called out for some of the most outrageous media hypocrisy

ews broke Wednesday the Florida Senate had passed a bill to dismantle Walt Disney World’s half-century-old “independent special district” status, an arrangement whereby Disney has been allowed, since 1968, essentially to govern itself. Gov. Ron DeSantis says Disney’s self-governing status should be subject to review, to ensure that it is still “appropriately serving the public interest.” Good. Disney is reaping its just reward for inserting itself into the political debate about Florida’s parental rights bill, which Disney lost in spectacular fashion.

Rep. In an age when more people than ever seem to have lost the open secret to happiness – gratitude, perspective, friends, family, etc. – and gone all-in on political ideologies, it’s worth remembering that life is fleeting. It might include suffering, but without the pain there would be no way to feel true pleasure. When God created man and made the human condition one of suffering, He did so with the purpose that it would allow us to feel joy as well. A terrific follow on Twitter, Zuby, posed a question the other day about the weighing of youth, advanced age, and the holding of wealth.

The last time the state of South Carolina executed an inmate was over ten years ago, when Jeffrey Motts was put to death in 2011 for the crime of having strangled a fellow inmate while serving a life sentence for another murder. But in less than two weeks, another convict in the Palmetto State may be put to death for his crimes, and we now know the method that will be used. Richard Bernard Moore is set to be executed on April 29th, and per South Carolina law he has been given the option to choose between the electric chair and firing squad for his mode of death.

Amid the churn of recent headlines about inflation and the war in Ukraine, you might have missed what’s happening right now on the southwest border — not the ongoing border crisis, but something very much related to it. For the past few days, commercial traffic between the United States and Mexico has ground to a halt. Furthermore, the right-wing expectation that businesses that “go woke, go broke” has fallen flat. A few corporations have taken a hit to the bottom line, but most have found that going woke is just fine for business.

A group of US-based Apple employees have formed an organisation dubbed “Apple Together” and claim the initiative is “only driven by fear”. The unnamed staff have sent
