Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) got into a heated spat over the whereabouts of Hunter Biden's laptop during a House Judiciary hearing on oversight of the FBI's Cyber Division on Tuesday. The Republican firebrand used his allotted time to grill the division's assistant director Bryan Vorndran, who repeatedly told Gaetz he didn't have any information on where the hard drive belonging to President Joe Biden's son is currently located.(Snip)'You are the assistant director of FBI cyber. I want to know where Hunter Biden's laptop is. Where is it?' he pressed. The FBI official replied, 'Sir, I don't know that answer.' Gaetz called Vorndran's claim 'astonishing.'

FBI should be shut down. Period. This organization is rotten and foul, top to bottom. If they want to continue let the DNC pay their salaries as partisan henchman.

You could likely ask every FBI employee and everyone of them would have no idea where Hunter's laptop is. Transfer the FBI to the Aleutians and knock the windows out of the J. Edgar Hoover building so the pigeons can roost there.

This sounds like a replay of the Indiana Jones Movie where they put the Arc of the Covenant in a large government warehouse never to be seen again.
Next thing you know, someone from the FBI will tell us they have "Top Men" assigned to look for it and investigate its contents.
The FBI is totally corrupt.

I would assume the FBI has an evidence room and records of any item turned over to them.
If they cannot find the lap top it is a deliberate act of destruction of evidence.
Now as I understand the law copies cannot be used as evidence in such a case due to chain of evidence. I could be wrong, but I am sure there will be technicalities without the original.

Some years ago an FBI agent came by asking about a former employee who was seeking a sensitive government job. Background check stuff. If he came by today I'm not sure I'd talk to him.
On the plus side, this demonstrates a milestone. Its the first day the FBI was crookeder than congress. I can just see the campaign signs. "Vote for me. I'm less crooked than one other agency."

Embarrassing moment? Nonsense.
What we saw was a smug, secure apparatchik basically demonstrating how insulated from consequence he and his employers are.
Oh. And the concept of "employers"... anyone who thinks he is "employed by the citizens of America and works for them" should be out bridge shopping. I hear there are some great deals to be had.

The FBI is just the law enforcement (stasi) arm of the Democratic Party. They investigate to protect. They lie on command. They murder on order. All for their Masters at the DNC.

Democrats have learned one thing, deny, deny, deny. The would lie to the Lord Jesus Christ Himself with absolute certainty right to His face. I have never seen such hubris and complete disregard for integrity. It simply does not matter to these people. Nothing matters but protecting the state. These folks are full blown totalitarians and I want them exposed. Anything they do or say is to protect the all important state and that is the antithesis of our founding principles. We used to stand for truth and Justice and we were a better nation for it. Now we are supposed to stand for whatever democrats deem right and I just cannot do that. The democrat party is the enemy of everything we hold near and dear, on every single issue, we are at odds at with them. How in the world do you begin to work together when your goals are complete opposite? One group must completely defeat the other. Please God, let it be us.

Just like Anthony 'Carlos Danger' Weiner's/Huma Abedain's laptop, Hillary's unauthorized, non-secure, compromised Chappaqua home-installed server (with Top Secret SAP-classifed data in it) and the Ark of the Covenant, Hunter Biden's laptap has been rat-holed away in some federal purgatory--if not outright and illegally destroyed.

FBI should be immediately disbanded and its personnel and investigative responsibilities handed over to the fifty states. In its place a new body responsible for Federal level co-ordination and archival duties should be formed.

Gaetz was publicly cleared of the sham smear of being a trafficker yet the daily mail posts that first bullet point before the laptop. Shame on them for posturing. The family is dirty and Joe deserves the same proctological exam 45 is still enduring. Buck up kiddos, the captain goes down with his ship.

So, even if the FBI illegally destroyed the laptop, who will bring them to justice? Gaetz could say to Vorndran "Produce the laptop!" and be perfectly within his congressional oversight power. However, a back-and-forth exchange would result in Vorndran's ultimate, sarcastic response "Oh yeah, you and what army?". Remember, Congress cannot directly enforce anything. However, Gaetz could then turn to the DOJ and write a referral to AG Garland. Boy, that would really get a response!

The laptop is probably safe and secure in Hillary Clinton’s closet. It is far too valuable to be used as blackmail. Recall the hundreds of primary FBI files found on Hillary’s coffee table. How much valuable blackmail material was distilled from that trove. Am I right Chief Justice Roberts?

Congressman Matt Gaetz is a patriot and I salute his toughness in the face of democrat corruption. The FBI has become a joke in the realm of the movie Die Hard. Annoying, aggressive, and stupid. That cyber nitwit might want to check in his boss Chrissy Wray's office broom closet as the laptop might be in there. You just know that if this was PDJT and his son DJTJR that this same FBI would bend the latter over and give him a coloscopy with no anesthesia while his dad watched. I'm with #1. The FBI is too big, ingrained and corrupt and needs to be defunded.

I totally agree with posters calling for defunding/shutting down this corrupt, politicized organization. Republicans should decrease the FBI budget to $5-10M and then tell them you decide what you're going to cut and let us know when you do so. Then they should cut that budget to $1M or so the next year, and so on until they disappear. For once, here is a legitimate law enforcement "defund" cause.

There is no way the hard drive is lost - it may be 'buried' , destroyed, or stolen - but it ain't lost - if it were, any agent who had control of it would have been fired and lost all benefits ( in a non-corrupt World ).

This is what happens when an administration worries about stupid things like WOKEness transgender rights in woman’s sports, and defunding the police. Real issues go unnoticed. The Mueller report outcome should have caused mass investigations into the corruption of the FBI and restructuring , including top level firings. It did not happen but the Durham is not complete I believe. Maybe there is hope?

Re: Item added in the Daily Mail regarding Matt Gaetz. "The Florida lawmaker is currently under investigation for sex trafficking claims." So, the media leads the story with Mr Gaetz with a current investigation. It has absolutely nothing to do with the "seized laptop" Just thrown in as a description of Mr. Gaetz. Instead of focusing in on the "laptop" we must focus on a news piece written by the Daily Mail. I'm happy Gaetz had a copy. Ya think there are more copies out there? This "laptop" mess is a national security problem. When are we ever going to get decent politicians and get rid of heads of departments? Too may bearocrats (sp). DC stinks to high heaven. Defund the FBI, CIA. Pentagon generals milley and austin. Clean house PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

What happened to Anthony Weiner's laptop? The NYPD said it was too hot for them to handle, and they demanded the FBI take it off their hands. It was buried in the catacombs of a crumbling edifice of what once was America. 'We the People' are now barely tolerated by a parasitic FedGov establishment, protecting itself at all costs.

Matt Gaetz whipping it out would not be a welcome thing under normal circumstances, but we're living in interesting times and the FBI continues to reveal itself for what it is. Good thing the computer repairman made multiple copies of those hard drives or they'd have been "lost" by now.
