Before announcing their shocking divorce, Bill and Melinda Gates shelled out a whopping $43 million for an oceanfront estate in San Diego—the latest hot spot in California. But it looks like Gates, 66, is the one to snag the idyllic property for his own use—and he’s customizing it to a T, The Post can report. The initial six-bedroom, 3.5 bathroom estate, which spanned 5,800 square feet, has been completely demolished and is being re-built from the ground up at the direction of the Microsoft tycoon himself. Gates has already stopped by twice in the last few months with his two bulletproof suburban security details

I am appalled that he would tear down that iconic property..sort of reminds me of the people who walk into a great space and the first thing they say is..well ...this has to be gutted!!!!!! I have heard this a lot in my life as a Realtor of 53 years. sort of drives me bats. I remember back in the day flying in and out of Seattle for a long time..he was building his house there...forever........it was situated so that you could see it from the road.

The elitist MSM swine excrements don't want to report his sexual dalliances in fear of losing $$$ that he may give them.

5,800 square feet is an estate? Only in California.

How long before he makes a move to keep the dogs off Dog Beach? Last February the median home price in San Diego County was $765,000. Gates shells out $43 million and the median price is now $888,000.

Ugly. Looks a lot more like a compound than a home.

Bulletproof vehicles. He knows that people know what he has been doing, and somebody might try to get some payback.

Years ago, we had a neighbor who was one of the workmen on their house on Mercer Island (across Lake Washington from Seattle). He told us that the swimming pool was almost completely finished when Mrs. Gates didn't like the way it was turning out so they had to completely redo it. Guess when you have billions of dollars to throw around...

My last two years of bachelorette-hood were spent in Del Mar, just two houses east of Hwy 1 and two blocks from the race track. I could hear the waves every night going to sleep. Its where, famously, the surf meets the turf. (Hat tip: Bing Crosby - his ballad opens and ends every race day.) I'd tan on the beach from 10-2 going over the Racing Form, and then walk to the track for the first post. Its pure southern California where beach bums mingle with the horse-race set and its all one big party. I'll guarantee that the locals are not happy to see a proper beach house replaced with a miniature super-max prison structure. Beach life has a shelf life; you start aging out by 35 and singles over 40 are deadly - no matter how much money they have. The dufas Gates is Nerd Central. "Coolness" is the coin of the realm, and if any man on earth is not cool...its Bill in a bachelor pad. Pleeeze!

Gates is only 66? He looks like he’s been rode hard and put up wet. All of that evil inside him is beginning to show up on the outside.

When you have that kind of money, the urge to walk on people is strong. Look what Zuckerberg did to his Hawaiian neighbors with that wall around his estate. It's hard to wish well upon people like this. They create mediocre products like Windows and Facebook and get rich on volume, not quality.

Money can't buy happiness.
It disguises (spiritual) poverty.

Hopefully he's using "Microsoft DIY Architect" software to design and build his "Palais de L'ego."
If so, then this project won't get past the first 5 years of software "bugs" and blue screens of death.

The world is in grave and imminent danger because of Our Rising Seas. Except for that one oceanfront estate in San Diego, which is in no danger at all. Nor is Bathhouse Barry's oceanfront property in Hawaii, nor the mega-compound Mark Zuckerberg is building, nor any of Jeff Bezos' properties, nor Al Gore's property in San Francisco, or anything else owned by the elites. We just have to pay higher taxes and fees to protect it all, and freeze in the dark and eat the bugs and ride around in rickshaws, or walk. Why? Because they say so, that's why. Deal with it, peasants.
