The United States will accept up 100,000 refugees fleeing the war in the Ukraine, the Biden administration announced on Thursday.
The announcement came during President Joe Biden's trip to Europe where he's meeting with leaders of NATO, the G7 and the European Union in three back-to-back emergency sessions to deal with Russia's invasion of the Ukraine. It's meant to help ease the humantarian criss taking place in Eastern Europe, where nearly 3.5 million Ukrainians have fled their bombarded country in one of the biggest refugee crisises since World War II.(Snip)In addition to welcoming more of the displaced, the Biden administration also announced more than $1 billion

Why do we always have to 'give' when there is some catastrophic event? Does anyone else in the world ever help us when we have wildfires or hurricanes??? NO THEY DON"T!

Once here they always stay, so this generous gesture will cost us at least $13.3 billion. "Refugee resettlement costs American taxpayers nearly $9 billion every five years, according to research, and each refugee costs taxpayers about $133,000 over the course of their lifetime. Within five years, an estimated 16 percent of all refugees admitted will need housing assistance paid for by taxpayers."

Europe’s problem. Tell the EU to triple their NATO contribution or we won’t take any Ukrainians.

I cannot understand the illogic of ignoring credible images that are multiplying daily of Ukrainians being slaughtered in the own cities, having invaded on one, while embracing as fact the notion that Ukrainians are Nazis and are being justly punished by the great leader of freedom and truth in the world, Vladimir Putin. As far as the US not bothering too assist a people who are the textbook definition of refugees, while sloughing off what is coming across our southern border daily, that seems to be a growing conventional wisdom on most treads dealing with Ukraine; one that also defies logic. I guess that's why I'l never get to sit at the cool kid's table.

I guarantee he will give preference to the Syrians, Africans, and other illegals that were in the Ukraine and fled once their hosts could no longer give them welfare.

With chain migration that 100,000 will turn into 1,100,000. Welcome home new Democrat voters! Kamala will be at the airport with voter registration tables, Social Security applications, temporary housing and food stamp vouchers, free phones, and medical insurance. Your comfort is our primary goal.

At what point did this go from being the worst thing that ever happened to these Ukrainians to the best thing that ever happened to them?

Ukrainians who end up here will probably despise Biden and Democrats once they learn a little English. Don’t see too many ending up here once Dems figure that out they are creating a permanent opposition.
