The United States will accept up 100,000 refugees fleeing the war in the Ukraine, the Biden administration announced on Thursday. The announcement came during President Joe Biden's trip to Europe where he's meeting with leaders of NATO, the G7 and the European Union in three back-to-back emergency sessions to deal with Russia's invasion of the Ukraine. It's meant to help ease the humantarian criss taking place in Eastern Europe, where nearly 3.5 million Ukrainians have fled their bombarded country in one of the biggest refugee crisises since World War II.(Snip)In addition to welcoming more of the displaced, the Biden administration also announced more than $1 billion

Once here they always stay, so this generous gesture will cost us at least $13.3 billion. "Refugee resettlement costs American taxpayers nearly $9 billion every five years, according to research, and each refugee costs taxpayers about $133,000 over the course of their lifetime. Within five years, an estimated 16 percent of all refugees admitted will need housing assistance paid for by taxpayers." https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/02/04/taxpayer-funded-refugee-contractors-cheer-joe-biden-surging-refugee-resettlement-by-960/

I cannot understand the illogic of ignoring credible images that are multiplying daily of Ukrainians being slaughtered in the own cities, having invaded on one, while embracing as fact the notion that Ukrainians are Nazis and are being justly punished by the great leader of freedom and truth in the world, Vladimir Putin. As far as the US not bothering too assist a people who are the textbook definition of refugees, while sloughing off what is coming across our southern border daily, that seems to be a growing conventional wisdom on most treads dealing with Ukraine; one that also defies logic. I guess that's why I'l never get to sit at the cool kid's table.

President Joe Biden on Saturday compared Poland's taking in more than 2 million Ukraine refugees to the migrant situation on the Southern border of the U.S. The odd comparision came as Biden was thanking Polish President Andrzej Duda for his country's response to the humanitarian crisis and pledging U.S. financial aid. 'We do acknowledge Poland has taken on a lot with all of the responsibility,' Biden said. 'The fact that you have so many Ukrainians seeking refuge in this country of Poland. We understand that because we have, at our southern border, thousands of people per day literally, not figuratively, trying to get into the United States,' he said.

And all the while, most Republican Party "leaders" stand back and do nothing as they watch. We've got the only political party in modern history controlled by a small group of elected officials who fundamentally disagree with the prevailing viewpoints of 90% of the voters who put them in office. Election after election, their unstated yet indisputable campaign slogan is simply, "Vote for us because we don't hate you quite as much as the other guys."
