A Russian man was not lovin’ it that McDonald’s was about to shutter it stores in the country amid the invasion of Ukraine – so he chained himself to one of its eateries in Moscow in a last-ditch attempt to keep it open. The Golden Arches fan, identified as Luka Safronov, was filmed staging his protest hours before the burger giant was set to temporarily close its 850 restaurants in Russia, the Mirror reported. “Closing down is an act of hostility against me and my fellow citizens!” Safronov reportedly yelled as customers flocked inside to grab their last Big Macs and other staples before the chain closed down its operations.

Your government poisons and murders dissenting expatriates? No problem. Invade the sovereign nation of Ukraine? Whatever. Tries to take away your McNuggets? Tyranny!

They shouldn't close, stay open and have TVs on showing the customers real news while they eat, maybe provide open internet as well.

Russia already said they were seizing McDonald's assets when they leave. They'll re-open the Golden arches as the "Yellow Streams" in honor of the "Pee" tapes and call them McPutin's...

A lot of the McD's food is different than the US menu in Moscow. Their big burger is, IIRC, the "Royal" which is kinda like a Quarter Pounder. IIRC, there is no analog to the Big Mac, which is fine with me, I never liked the Big Mac, ate one, ever and decided 'never again'. Fries are essentially exactly the same. You have to PURCHASE every packet of ketchup, no free ANYTHING, because the Russians steal it all. Want mustard on your chicken sandwich, ask for it and they sell you a packet to put on yourself. Drinks have no ice, Russians think that ice is ripping you off, getting less drink, and there are NO free refills, for certain. It's OK and I ate at the Russian McDs for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday unless out at some museum or something, to save money. The TGI Friday's was just down the street from our hotel, just like a US one, waiters/waitresses with same aprons, pins all over, like here. There was the Amerikanski Bar & Grill, down a block and around the corner. They actually had great American food, too. And over a block the other way in a courtyard was a no-lie stainless steel sided American diner. IIRC, the Starlite Diner. Lots of outdoors seating space since they totally overflowed the original diner. Waitresses in Happy Days style diner outfits, all American style diner food, pretty well done. Heavy plastic curtains in the colder months around the outside area. https://starlite.ru/en/ Lots of other American food in Moscow within a few blocks of the Grand Marriott Tverskaya where we usually stayed. A great German restaurant with wonderful brats and other sausages, too, about across the street from the Americankski B&G.

Russians have endured bad governments for generations. But it would be funny if losing fast food restaurants is what leads to the overthrow of Putin and his cronies.

When evaluating candidates for the week’s top knucklehead, or in assessing any political issues, we generally try to avoid focusing on family members of a public figure. Consider that despite her best efforts, First Lady Jill Biden has never made it to the top spot. It’s also worth noting that most spouses of elected officials tend to keep a low profile. Can you remember the last time you had an opinion on Nancy Pelosi’s husband or Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s wife? But with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s husband Chasten, his actions this week were too much to ignore.

President Joe Biden announced on Friday he will revoke Russia's 'most favored nation' trade status over its invasion of Ukraine, another step in the series of harsh economic sanctions he and U.S. allies have imposed on Moscow. And he vowed Russian President Vladimir Putin would pay a 'severe price' if he uses chemical weapons in the Ukraine and said U.S. troops would not join the fight as not to provoke World War III. Biden announced Russia's change in status of a trade partner in lockstep with the fellow G7 nations to make it an even heavier burden on Moscow to carry. The move will also deny Russia the ability to borrow money

We, as parents, have sharp protective instincts, and nothing triggers them quite like schools trying to indoctrinate our kids. Many parents have only recently become concerned. When kids were kept out of school and forced to learn remotely, moms and dads were enlightened.

This has always been her strategy in handling such situations, and heaven knows she’s had plenty of experience. Whitewater? Pfft! Nothing to see here. Travelgate? Just a vast right-wing conspiracy. Benghazi? What difference could it possibly make? Hillary has survived more scandals than perhaps any politician in history, so her current hubris might be somewhat expected.
