Another Russian general has died, and other senior army officers have either been killed or wounded in fighting in Ukraine this week — only adding to what Kremlin officials are reportedly calling a complete “clusterf–k.’’
Russian Maj. Gen. Vitaly Gerasimov and some senior officers were struck down in fighting in Kharkiv on Monday, days after Gen. Andrei Sukhovetsky was killed by a sniper, Ukrainian officials said.
The blows to the Russian army’s top echelon occurred even before Russian government officials were already calling Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine “a clusterf–k,” a report said.

Imagine how in the beginning these officers(dead & alive)thought about the easy glory they were gonna win.
Now it's the reality of they could get killed.

Sounds like some of that reporting may be Western psychological warfare propaganda. But since there has been so much false reporting out there you never know. One thing is for sure, if the Russian Army is as incompetent as the reporting says, the NATO countries don’t have much to worry about as far as a successful conventional Russian ground attack on NATO forces who are loaded up with ultra modern anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles in Central Europe. That is until it comes to the deployment and use of Russian tactical nuclear weapons that could blow up everyone up on the battlefield.

We keep reading that "nobody knew that there was going to be an invasion". I wonder if this is so bizarre that it could be true? I really don't know, but it fits what some of the captured Russian troops have said, too.
Definitely an Alice in Wonderland time, where nothing is quite what it seems, of is it?

#4, I was in the US Army. We conducted maneuvers in the German countryside. We were never issued live ammunition. I would expect that the armed forces of other countries have the same policy--no good can come from issuing live ammunition during practice maneuvers. If the Russian forces had been issued ammunition before the invasion, it would be very clear to the participants what is happening.

OP, given the type of perfumed princes the demo-commies have elevated to the rarefied ranks, you write like that's a bad thing.
Has anyone considered this could be the perfect way for Russia to thin out the questionable senior military ranks?

Sorry, but I seriously doubt anyone in the Kremlin would risk his life even privately showing massive disrespect to Putin. That is not a healthy thing to do, and any senior officer would know what the consequences would be.
Operation Desert Storm was considered a very swift victory in Iraq. But that took over 40 days. This invasion has been going on for about 2 weeks. As much as I would love to see Russia be humiliated in this, and Putin taken down, I have just seen too much propaganda coming out of this war on both sides to believe much of anything that is being reported as "facts" by either side.
Logically, Russian troops have historically been poorly trained, lacked motivation, and been terrible drunks. But they have a massive number of them and far superior weaponry. I never one-time heard Putin say "this will take a week and we will have victory". He may be Hitler-level evil, but he is not stupid. And he is not going to stop this invasion until the Ukrainian government is smashed and he controls the country. He could care less how many troops over even generals he has to lose in the process!!!

Ukraine has a population of 44 million. Iraq has a population of 38 million. If the Russian military is roughly the equivalent of the US military, it stands to reason it would take about the same amount of time for Russia to conquer Ukraine as it did for the US to conquer Iraq.
Wait and see how accurate that is. 40 days? Russia should be in control of Ukraine by the end of March or early April. If not, Russia is having problems.

Sack the Norman Dike's and bring up the Capt. Ronald C. Spiers and get the attacks going. It is freaking War for crimineys sakes. A Warrior is meant to die for his country so that others may live. John McCain's of the World do not apply!

#12, there are several other factors you have to take into consideration besides population.
Ukraine is about 1.5 times the size of Iraq. Iraq is mostly desert -- wide open and easily traversed with the right equipment. Ukraine is heavily forested -- much harder to move troops and equipment.
Iraq had a hated dictator and a small and poorly equipped and trained military. Within a couple of days, the USA had total air superiority. Ukraine has a popular elected president, and a decent military with much better weapons and training. You are going to have much more motivated fighters in Ukraine. There just aren't enough of them to realistically hope to win.
So to say that this should take the same amount of time that Operation Desert Storm took is not realistic. However, given the extreme advantages of Russia in their massive number of soldiers and their superior weapons, and the fact that Putin will win this at all costs, I would put money on Russia installing a puppet government within 90 days. There will be guerilla warfare attacks for years, but this war can't go on forever unless Ukraine can get some other countries to put boots on the ground -- and that isn't going to happen.

How stupid must you be to believe this? All of Murdoch’s media is pro-war, especially Fox News. Have you heard what a raving lunatic Hannity has become. Puh-lease!
