Merkley: ‘We Should Have a Climate Emergency’
and Need to ‘Have the World Transition’
to Green Energy to Undercut Russia

Original Article

On Monday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) argued that in order to undermine Russia’s power, we have to “end our dependence on oil and have the world transition to renewable energy.” Because Russia will be able to sell oil as long as there’s demand for oil, and called for a “climate emergency.” Merkley said, “As long as there is a world market for oil, Russia will be able to sell its oil. And so, unfortunately, not all my colleagues yet understand that the way to undercut the power of Russia is to end our dependence on oil and have the world transition to renewable energy.”

Comments:

They're showing us their hand. Emergencies aren't really emergencies, and the climate hysteria isn't really abou the climate.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), another delusional moron. He can shove his green energy policies where the sun don't shine. Windmills are useless when there is no wind and solar is useless when there is no sun. And electric cars are nothing more than toys for the rich. They can't handle the distance, they can't handle the load and they would kill the electrical grid. When are these morons going to wake up. Fact is they will never wake out of their coma and they must be voted out ASAP. Got it...

There is not enough of EVERYTHING to go full electric. Not enough infrastructure, not enough electric cars not enough AFFORDABLE electric cars, no electric rigs, no useable electric planes... These people remind me of those corporate entities, who have this great solution but have no plan to accomplish it. They turn to their employees and scream, "Just get it DONE!!!" It doesnt work that way in the real world.

One other thing occurs to me. Those windmills that the Left loves? What kind of lubricant are they proposing to use to keep the blades spinning and the bearings greased? Those fields of windmills take thousands of gallons of lubricant to keep them working. When they do work.

Always great sound bits, but the practicality is not available for multiple decades from now. Wonder how he'd feel when Russia ends up going to war with many other European countries simply because they need money due to the lack of selling their oil assets? Or, does he think just because the United States ends up going "green" the rest of the world can afford to follow? Even the Paris Accords didn't meet their climate goal until the year 2100.

The "transition" that Merkley is pushing would take decades to be even minimally effective against Russia, when we need to cut them off within days (or even hours, if possible). Kind of like it would take Merkley decades to understand the basic math that he should have understood before even running for office.

If you somehow deployed enough windmills to replace all the energy generated by fossil fuels, the energy removed from the atmosphere would change the patterns of the jet streams. THAT would create real climate change.

The price of oil has blown past $125 per barrel this morning as the Biden administration's climate change agenda continues to hamper progress on lowering costs. Over the weekend a number of State Department diplomats were deployed to Venezuela in hopes of pulling off sanctions on the Maduro regime in order for the U.S. to tap back into the country's oil supply. "Senior U.S. officials are traveling to Venezuela on Saturday to meet with the government of President Nicolás Maduro, according to people familiar with the matter, as the Biden administration steps up efforts to separate Russia from its remaining international allies amid a widening standoff over Ukraine,"

When leftwing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau lifted his skirt last month and revealed his fascist tendencies by cracking down on anti-authoritarianism protests, many American moderates and even some conservatives scoffed at the notion such tyranny could trickle southward. “Not here,” they said, “not in America.” Well, don’t look now, but it’s already started. That didn’t take long. As was the case in Canada, the shift towards totalitarianism we’re seeing in Boston is rooted in COVID. Or to be more accurate, that shift is being justified by pointing to COVID as the bogeyman-du-jour.

One of CNN’s promotional videos, a compilation of short clips of many of its hosts still being used to this day, includes a clip of Erin Burnett, evidentially quite exercised about some great injustice, asking: “How stupid do you think we are?” The promotional video does not provide the context for this great social justice warrior’s impassioned words but it is in fact in reference to remarks by several GOP senators’ remarks about Donald Trump’s alleged description in a private Oval Office meeting of certain African countries and Haiti as “s**thole” countries. Although these events took place long ago, it is useful to dissect Burnett’s remarks in some detail

President Biden’s announcement that the United States will ban imports of Russian oil caused the price of crude to surge on Tuesday morning. However, the pain that Americans are set to feel at the gas pump could eventually be offset if Congress were to pass Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, a new study finds. An analysis released Tuesday by the nonpartisan think tank Energy Innovation finds that the climate change provisions of Biden’s now-defunct proposal, such as tax credits for buying new electric vehicles, would have reduced U.S. oil consumption by 2025 by half of the roughly 200,000 barrels of crude oil from Russia
