Oregon secretary of state declares Nick
Kristof ineligible to run for governor

Original Article

The Oregon Elections Division said Thursday that former New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof will not be allowed to run for the governorship due to his failure to meet the state's residency requirements. The Oregon constitution stipulates that an individual must be a resident of the state for at least three years prior to seeking election. Kristof, who owns residences in New York and Oregon, cast his 2020 ballot in New York.

Comments:

Typical, egotistical liberal...rules for thee but not for me. Was so arrogant he had already announced and started raising big bucks. I'm amazed they didn't bend the rules for him...wonder if the leftist court will overturn the decision on his appeal. Hope he is forced to give back every last dime.

Because Kristof grew up in Oregon, watch the lawyers try to ask the court to define prior saying it is a vague term in the context. Failing that they will make an argument that the law is discriminatory. Sadly, Oregon, like neighboring Washington, have large conservative areas that are overpowered electorally by the Commies on the coast in Portland or Seattle. Ditto Nevada being ruled by the Cali transplants in Clark County.

Parents moved here from Romania and were Portland State professors. That's a fairly typical history profile for the various Red Diaper babies - parents from the Soviet area - work warping US minds as ordered by their Kremlin bosses, and teach their kids to do it, too. Read "Radical Son" by David Horowitz for the inside story on the large number of soviet infiltrators that have been undermining our system from within for the better part of a century. Sounds like Kristoff's story follows the same general path.

This is important, as it points to how you should not be able to simply register to vote the day-of, or even within 30 days of the early ballot. When you need to live in a state a certain amount of time, generally 1 year, to be eligible for in-state tuition then it should be similar for someone who is eligible to vote, it would seem.

Texas Republicans this past weekend swept key mayoral races across the state, a setback for Democrats who expected changing demographics, especially in the state’s larger urban centers, would continue to help them win the conservative-leaning state. The biggest setback for Democrats was likely in the border town of McAllen, where roughly 85% of the 150,000 residents are Hispanics, and Republicans for the first time got a candidate elected as mayor, according to the National Review.

Hospitalizations of U.S. children under 5 with COVID-19 soared in recent weeks to their highest level since the pandemic began, according to government data released Friday on the only age group not yet eligible for the vaccine. The worrisome trend in children too young to be vaccinated underscores the need for older kids and adults to get their shots to help protect those around them, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since mid-December, with the highly contagious omicron variant spreading furiously around the country, the hospitalization rate in these youngest kids has surged to more than 4 in 100,000 children, up from 2.5 per 100,000.

The liberal wing of the Supreme Court embarrassed itself Friday with a slew of false claims about COVID-19 during oral arguments over Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates. For example, Justice Stephen Breyer claimed hospitals are at capacity because of unvaccinated Americans with COVID. This is false. But perhaps the most ridiculous false claim from a Supreme Court justice came from Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who falsely claimed that 100,000 children are in “serious condition” from COVID. “We have hospitals that are almost at full capacity with people severely ill on ventilators. We have over 100,000 children, which we’ve never had before, in serious condition, and many on ventilators,” Sotomayor claimed.
