Merck to seek emergency US approval of
oral COVID treatment

Original Article

Pharmaceutical giant Merck and its partner Ridgeback Biotherapeutics announced Friday that it plans to apply for emergency approval of its oral antiviral treatment for COVID-19 after the experimental drug showed “compelling results” in clinical trials. The pill, called molnupiravir, cut the risk of hospitalization or death in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 by about 50 percent in a late-stage trial, the companies said.

Comments:

Well, I guess it was time for Merck to get in (cash in) on the COVID action. Since the article does not tell us how the new drug works, I'm going to assume they have repackaged Ivermectin and adjusted the costs accordingly.

Ivermectin is available as a generic drug. The patent ran out decades ago and is widely available and cheap. This new one will be patented and cost twenty or thirty times the amount of money. All paid for by the government the tax payers. Follow the money. It's the same formulation.

Sounds like they had to dumb down ivermectin, which has better results in India than this “new” drug.

This is interesting. An "adverse event" is any "untoward medical occurence" following this therapy, for up to seven months. And yet for the vaccines, they don't want to consider any data from the VAERS vaccine incidents - not proven to be causal, nothing to see here! From the Merck clinical trial application: Primary Outcome Measures : 1) Percentage of participants who are hospitalized and/or die [ Time Frame: Up to 29 days ] Hospitalization (all cause) is ≥24 hours of acute care in a hospital or similar acute care facility. Death is due to any cause. 2) Percentage of participants with an adverse event (AE) [ Time Frame: Up to ~7 months ] An AE is any untoward medical occurrence in a clinical study participant, temporally associated with the use of study intervention, whether or not considered related to the study intervention. 3) Percentage of participants who discontinued study intervention due to an AE [Time Frame: Up to 6 days ] An AE is any untoward medical occurrence in a clinical study participant, temporally associated with the use of study intervention, whether or not considered related to the study intervention.

FDA will NEVER approve this, regardless of how much Merck pays them under the table. Why? Because it's a TREATMENT. Our overlords ban all TREATMENTS of covid (HCQ, Ivermectin, Z-Pac,...) because then you could treat covid like most any other disease. Just go to your doctor, get prescriptions, take them, and get well. The hospital is only there for backup in case of problems. The key thing for "Biden", Fauci, etc. is POWER - power they get because of FEAR whipped up by themselves and the MSM. As long as you're afraid, you're not gonna care about silly things like Constitutions! (/sarc)

Texas Republicans this past weekend swept key mayoral races across the state, a setback for Democrats who expected changing demographics, especially in the state’s larger urban centers, would continue to help them win the conservative-leaning state. The biggest setback for Democrats was likely in the border town of McAllen, where roughly 85% of the 150,000 residents are Hispanics, and Republicans for the first time got a candidate elected as mayor, according to the National Review.

A public university violated a professor's constitutional rights by punishing him for refusing to use a transgender student's preferred pronouns, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Friday. In a unanimous opinion written by Judge Amul Thapar, a Supreme Court short-lister for former President Trump, the court compared the Ohio university's behavior to a "McCarthy era" law against "subversive" government employees. Philosophy professor Nicholas Meriwether, a "devout Christian," sought an accommodation under which he would not have to address the student as a woman in classroom discussions, which often touched on gender identity as a cultural controversy.

On Saturday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Yasmin Vossoughian Reports,” Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) argued that the $3.5 trillion price tag for the Build Back Better Act reconciliation package “is a modest investment” for an economy the size of America’s. Torres said, “[T]here’s misconception about the price tag of the Build Back Better Act. The Build Back Better Act, the original draft, it is not 3.5 trillion over the course of a year. It’s over the course of ten years. So, it’s $350 billion. Which, for a $20 trillion economy like ours, is a modest investment. So, I think it’s shortsighted to focus on the price tag.”
