Inflation is surging out of control due to ongoing reckless federal fiscal and monetary policy. This month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that consumer prices rose by 6.8% over the past year, a near 40-year high. Last week, it reported that producer prices rose by a record 9.6%. This high inflation has resulted in falling real wages for ordinary Americans and declining living standards. A new analysis by the Penn Wharton Budget Model concludes surging inflation will cost ordinary American households $3,500 this year. Call it “the Biden pay cut.”

Agree with OP. It seems to be averaging 10-15% in my area excluding the big spikes in steel and building materials. Homes here jumped at least 25%. The media is desperately trying to blame it on the Chinaman Flu or 'supply chain' problems. A little of that applies but most comes from the communist administration's horrifying incompetence.

The inflation run-up began around 1971, when President Nixon froze wages and prices. The inflation rate, I recall, was 6 % at the time.
Inflation continued under President Ford, who came out with lapel buttons that said WIN - whip inflation now. The buttons didn't work.
Then along came Jimmy Carter, who was somewhat befuddled about the situation. The underlying cause of that run-up had alot to do with OPEC strangling our economy with oil embargoes.
A trip to the grocery store during those years would have a can of soup, for example, priced with 5 or 6 steadily increasing sales prices. It made everyone angry - a common joke was about the grocery clerk putting higher prices on items already in your cart. NY State even passed a law against that.
The seventies were a disaster. Bad music, bad hair, bad movies, bad clothes, bad cars, bad TV shows, and bad government..
I never thought we would return to those conditions, but here we are.
Or as William Shattner would say, 'beam me up, Scotty, there's no intelligent life on this planet.'

The Washington Times Fails economics! The inflation IS worse now than under Carter because since then they have adjusted the way in reach it is calculated multiple times. This has been done to prevent showing the true inflation and to continue the myth that all is well.

Didn't Carter give tons of wheat to the Soviet Union?
Why did bread prices for Americans skyrocket?

EVERYTHING Brandon does or intends is worse than Jimmy Carter. This record can be engraved in stone and nailed to the wall. Carter was a buffoon but his intentions were usually good, if misguided. He may have been scared by a rabbit but Joe tripped over his own dog while wrestling naked. Brandon is evil, intends to do damage and usually gets it done.
May those people trapped in Afghanistan all get out as a group, along with those stuck in the DC jails and decide to get revenge. They would have lots of help. The day is coming.

As bad as Carter was, the disaster he inherited from Johnson and Nixon didn't help. Biden is destroying a booming economy all on his own.

CPI methodology has been adjusted by the government eggheads over the years to hide the full value of inflation from the peasants. If CPI were calculated using the formula from 1979, its true value today would be between 11% and 15%, according to Peter Schiff (on Tucker Carlson). 7.1% is being reported today - the truth is about double that.
