Biden’s inflation may be even worse

Inflation is surging out of control due to ongoing reckless federal fiscal and monetary policy. This month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that consumer prices rose by 6.8% over the past year, a near 40-year high. Last week, it reported that producer prices rose by a record 9.6%. This high inflation has resulted in falling real wages for ordinary Americans and declining living standards. A new analysis by the Penn Wharton Budget Model concludes surging inflation will cost ordinary American households $3,500 this year. Call it “the Biden pay cut.”

Comments:

CPI methodology has been adjusted by the government eggheads over the years to hide the full value of inflation from the peasants. If CPI were calculated using the formula from 1979, its true value today would be between 11% and 15%, according to Peter Schiff (on Tucker Carlson). 7.1% is being reported today - the truth is about double that.

Agree with OP. It seems to be averaging 10-15% in my area excluding the big spikes in steel and building materials. Homes here jumped at least 25%. The media is desperately trying to blame it on the Chinaman Flu or 'supply chain' problems. A little of that applies but most comes from the communist administration's horrifying incompetence.

The inflation run-up began around 1971, when President Nixon froze wages and prices. The inflation rate, I recall, was 6 % at the time. Inflation continued under President Ford, who came out with lapel buttons that said WIN - whip inflation now. The buttons didn't work. Then along came Jimmy Carter, who was somewhat befuddled about the situation. The underlying cause of that run-up had alot to do with OPEC strangling our economy with oil embargoes. A trip to the grocery store during those years would have a can of soup, for example, priced with 5 or 6 steadily increasing sales prices. It made everyone angry - a common joke was about the grocery clerk putting higher prices on items already in your cart. NY State even passed a law against that. The seventies were a disaster. Bad music, bad hair, bad movies, bad clothes, bad cars, bad TV shows, and bad government.. I never thought we would return to those conditions, but here we are. Or as William Shattner would say, 'beam me up, Scotty, there's no intelligent life on this planet.'

The Washington Times Fails economics! The inflation IS worse now than under Carter because since then they have adjusted the way in reach it is calculated multiple times. This has been done to prevent showing the true inflation and to continue the myth that all is well.

EVERYTHING Brandon does or intends is worse than Jimmy Carter. This record can be engraved in stone and nailed to the wall. Carter was a buffoon but his intentions were usually good, if misguided. He may have been scared by a rabbit but Joe tripped over his own dog while wrestling naked. Brandon is evil, intends to do damage and usually gets it done. May those people trapped in Afghanistan all get out as a group, along with those stuck in the DC jails and decide to get revenge. They would have lots of help. The day is coming.

As bad as Carter was, the disaster he inherited from Johnson and Nixon didn't help. Biden is destroying a booming economy all on his own.

According to a piece by The New York Times, Harris has been privately complaining to her allies that the media's coverage of her would be better if she were any of her 48 White male predecessors, and has reportedly confided in them about the difficulties she's facing with her assigned portfolio from the White House.

Dr Anthony Fauci slammed Fox News personalities and leading anti-vaxxer Robert F Kennedy Jr for making 'inflammatory' statements about him that he says have 'accelerated' death threats against him and his family. During a wide-ranging interview with Yahoo! News on Tuesday, Fauci also took a swipe at RFK Jr, the anti-vaxxer lawyer son of the late US attorney general and senator from New York Robert Kennedy, who last month published a book filled with wild conspiracy theories targeting Fauci and Bill Gates. Fauci added that 'inflammatory statements' made by RFK Jr and 'Fox media personalities' have 'accelerated' the threats...

White House Press Secretary said at Wednesday's press briefing that the administration had 'saved Christmas' – in a nod to an easing in supply chain issues and a possible dig at the media, which has chronicled the crisis. She said Americans can go to stocked shelves to purchase last-minute Christmas gifts – although given the surge in coronavirus infections, many Americans find themselves lined up for antigen tests rather than big box purchases. 'Good news, we've saved Christmas,' quipped Psaki at the top of her daily briefing with the press – in a room that featured a smattering of empty seats amid the outbreak of the Omicron variant.

Daily Covid cases in South Africa have fallen again by 22 per cent compared to last week's figures, fuelling hopes that the country's Omicron wave is over. South Africa, whose scientists detected the variant, recorded 21,099 new cases in the last 24 hours, down by nearly a quarter on the 26,976 infections confirmed last Wednesday. A fifth fewer people were tested for the virus in the last 24 hours compared to the same period last week, but test positivity — the proportion of those tested who are infected — has been trending downwards for nine days.

The Food and Drug Administration has authorized a new pill from Pfizer that the company says cuts the risk of hospitalization and death in coronavirus patients by 89 percent. The drug, Paxlovid, received an emergency use authorization for use in patients 12 years old and up who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are at high risk, the FDA said Wednesday. Paxlovid will be administered alongside a widely used HIV drug. A study of 1,200 patients released last month showed that the drug eliminates nearly nine out of 10 hospitalizations for coronavirus patients.

The U.S. Justice Department on Tuesday announced it would not force federal inmates who were sent home due to the coronavirus pandemic to return to prison once the emergency is lifted. The decision represents a major reversal for the department's Office of Legal Counsel, which previously had issued an opinion that said the Bureau of Prisons had no legal authority to keep inmates at home once the pandemic emergency had subsided. It also marks a victory for criminal justice advocacy groups who have fiercely lobbied the department and the White House to take steps to ensure that law-abiding, low-level inmates would not be forced back into prison.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) says he regrets his participating in an awards event hosted earlier this month by the Communist Party of America. On Dec. 11, Blumenthal attended an awards ceremony hosted by Communist Party USA affiliate the Connecticut People's World Committee. The lawmaker gave out three certificates from the Senate to winners of the "Amistad Award," honoring labor and social justice activism. Blumenthal used the opportunity to promote the now-seemingly dead Build Back Better Act, as well as the Democratic party's efforts to pass elections legislation. In an interview with the Hartford Courant, the senator said he believed he was attending "strictly a labor event."

One doesn’t want to make much out of a triple-vaccinated COVID scold getting the virus. It could happen to the any of us. However, it also happens to Jim Cramer. Cramer, who screams about “best of breed” stocks on his CNBC show, isn’t the “best of” anything — aside from dispensing bad advice. The stock-picker is infamous for his sanguine predictions about Bear Stearns in the run-up to the 2008 financial crisis, although his suggestion that the military get involved in enforcing a vaccine mandate was arguably worse.

The events of the past five or six years have demonstrated to America that the FBI is no longer the unbiased law enforcement agency it once was. (snip) There are only two options: rehabilitate the FBI, or eliminate it. The current state is unacceptable in a functioning constitutional republic.(snip) The DoJ has not only failed to provide course correction to the FBI, it has arguably contributed to the problems. The rebuilding of the FBI should be overseen by a board chartered with the mission of rehabilitation, and staffed with people who care about integrity and understand what a well-functioning police organization should look like.

Santa Claus is too white, too straight and too male for most young people in the UK today, according to a poll. The modern depiction of Father Christmas as an old white man with a big bushy beard who wears a red and white suit was made globally famous by Coca Cola’s adverts of the 1930s. A survey by YouGov has now found that 60 per cent of 18–24-year-olds in the UK think it is ‘acceptable’ for Santa to be gay. But 41 per cent across all age groups said it was not OK, including 17 per cent of lesbian, gay and bisexual respondents.

However, the ordinary emotional disposition of leftists and Democrats, writ large, is depressing, angry and negative, the result from a lifetime of blame casting.

Millions of us are experiencing a terrible void in the absence of Rush Limbaugh this Christmas. Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” contains a character soliciting charitable donations, who reminds Scrooge that “want and grief are both felt keenly during this festive season.” Though critics (most of whom never listened to him) will never understand, Rush Limbaugh was undeniably loved by so many of us. As we celebrate what may be the last shared American tradition, Christmas, Rush’s absence is palpably felt — his voice is being missed.
