Sen. Joe Manchin, a conservative Democrat, said Sunday he won’t support the Biden administration’s “Build Back Better” plan. The decision could potentially shutter the $1.75 trillion social spending and climate policy bill. “If I can’t go home and explain it to the people West Virginia, I can’t vote for it. And I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation. I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible. I can’t get there,” Manchin said on “Fox News Sunday.” A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This is where the 'fixers' move in. Consider an election night with the Republican candidate (is) narrowly ahead.

Joe is a pro. He knows his parties future is,for now, hopeless and leaderless. He may well see his future as the dims 2024 Presidential candidate. He’d have the disenchanted dims, the disappointed independents, and some nevertrumpers as a base. He could have a Sister Soulja moment when he tells the looney left to go pound sand—better yet, dare them to start a third party which would guarantee DJT for four years and it’d be on their head. He could unite enough to win the nomination and then in an election he could be a new face.

I think it's dead anyway. The parlimentarian once again (for the third time) ruled that the immigration garbage they stuff in the bill is non-budgetary, and has to be stripped. That means that the bill if changed would have to then be approved by the Senate, and sent back to the House for a concurrence vote. The prog squad will never vote to approve this bill without the immigration component. They got shafted by Pelosi by agreeing to vote for the infrastructure bill before getting Build Back Bolshevik, and now they are going to get nothing at all because of it. They will refuse to support the bill stripped of immigration 'reform'.

Finally, a Democrat Senator with active brain cells. Not one to be part of a herd of intimidated Biden/Shummer/Pelosi sheep.

-There are 50 other Senators that are against it too but not a word about them. They are just as important.
-It should take 60 before they can even get to a vote except they cheated.
-The enhanced child tax credit could be passed if it was a stand alone bill so don't use that to justify turning the country into a socialist dictatorship.

It is more than just Manchin. Other Dems who are opposed to it are just using him as cover.

"killing the social and climate bill"
For now. Biden and his Brigands will be back. They aren't going to stop until they are out of office.
Just means the Democrats are going to call in a few Republican favors for Break, Bulldoze, and Bury. Just think for a moment of your 'favorite' RINO and ask yourself what the odds are they will break with the Republican party, and vote for this monstrosity.
Hopefully everyone sees where the real power resides in Washington: It's the Democrats. The Republicans aren't the ones killing this. Even if the Republicans had a majority, they would still be following Democratic leadership. Sometimes I wonder if Republicans should be voting for democrats just to moderate their entire party. For example, if Republicans voted in Democrat primaries, would they be able to get rid of the squad? Especially in any state where the Republican has little or no chance of winning.

Well if the Democrats were to do as Bernie says and bring the Build Back Better fiasco to a vote with Manchin voting against it, that would probably give a number of other Democrat Senators the cover to also vote against it, or be lost from DC when the vote is held.

Joe Manchin seems pretty much dug in on this. The concern now should be the position of Romney, Collins, and Murkowski. We have some very unstable and untrustworthy senators with an "R" after their names.

Good. I am glad the Democrats are upset. I would be better if Republicans demonstrated the Backbone that Manchin displays. Something tells me an assistant democrat will step up to save Bidens agenda. Maybe Mitch will "save the day" again.
