White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci on Sunday said he does not believe we are ever going to reach a point where Americans won’t be required to wear masks on airplanes due to Covid-19 concerns. ABC News This Week host Jonathan Karl asked Fauci about comments from several of the CEOs of top airlines that “you are actually safer than you are in an ICU” on a plane because of the filtration systems on flights. Karl asked if we will reach a point where we don’t have to wear masks on airplanes. “I don’t think so,” Fauci said. “I think when you’re dealing with a close space,

Having traveled by air this week, the mask mandate was in full force and hasn't slowed down anything. Every seat was filled and the airlines are making up for lost business. Also, noticed the seats were loser together than I remember from when I last flew in 2019. I don't know how a larger person can fit. It's really silly to see the mask Nazi / flight attendant making sure everyone had their mask up over the top of their nose. They looked like trained seals. Didn't Fauci say the masking doesn't prevent you from Catching the virus. The only redeeming benefit is protection from those who cough and sneeze. Next time I fly it will have it be business class. A great use for frequent flyer miles.

Senator Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) on Monday dared Democrats to push him out of the party if they are unhappy with his views, one day after he announced he will not support President Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda, effectively killing the bill. Asked on Hoppy Kercheval’s West Virginia radio show if he believes there is still a place for him in the Democratic party, Manchin replied: “I would like to hope that Democrats feel like I do. I’m fiscally responsible and socially compassionate.” “Now if there are no Democrats like that, they ought to push me where they want me,” he added.

Two New York Times stories on Sunday portrayed the Republican Party as mired in extremism and partisanship, overwhelming supposedly non-ideological Democrats who just want to get vital things done. Jonathan Weisman’s year in review for Congress, “Congress Ends ‘Horrible Year’ With Divisions as Bitter as Ever,” began dramatically and didn’t let up in its painting of the Republican Party as uniquely irrational, perhaps even like a “cult”: A congressional year that began with an assault on the seat of democracy ended at 4 a.m. Saturday with the failure of a narrow Democratic majority to deliver on its most cherished promises, leaving lawmakers in both parties wondering

Per a new report, the White House is preparing to surrender on COVID. What exactly the word “surrender” means in this context is up for some debate, but I’ve got some thoughts on the matter. To get us there, though, the Biden administration is laying the groundwork to make the case for living with the coronavirus. That’s in stark contrast to the lofty promises Joe Biden made during the 2020 election, namely, that he’d “shut down the virus.” So is the administration actually surrendering to the virus itself? I wouldn’t say that because there was never any reality where we eradicated a virus that is clearly endemic and seasonal.

Joe Manchin (D-WV) wasn’t going to stand for it. Right down the line, Manchin had indicated that his chief concern was the huge price tag on the bill, which the Biden team initially claimed was $3.5 trillion. The “ill-fated path of embracing progressive policies while overlooking manifest political realities.” It’s for this reason,

In chess, a gambit is when a player sacrifices a piece, usually a pawn, early in a game to obtain some larger competitive advantage. We can now say that the 13 Republicans who voted in early November to pass the infrastructure bill pulled off one of the most effective political gambits in recent memory. When Sen. The fact that the FBI has lost its way has been on public display for at least five years now. Truth be told, it probably strayed off course way before that. But during the Trump Presidency, it became too obvious to ignore. It has been involved in everything from the creation of an “insurance policy” against the peaceful transition of power, to the targeting of parents as domestic terrorists for the sin of disagreeing with school boards. How did our “premier law enforcement agency” stray so far from its motto of fidelity, bravery, and integrity? Simply put, the FBI’s current state is the result of horrible leadership.
