California police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Macy’s in San Jose after at least six male suspects entered the store and assaulted a female employee. Police say between six and eight suspects entered the Macy's at the Westfield Oakridge Mall at about 6 p.m. local time Saturday. (Snip) The detainment of the pair set off criticisms from some witnesses who say police were too rough with them when they arrived on scene. "The officers decides to get excessively close to my mom, and essentially grabs her arm. She had to fling his arm off and he got more

So, deflecting the blame from the 'won't ever prosecute' "prosecutor" to the police.
Pointless. If they are arrested, they are instantly released, without bail, without charges, and they are then free to pillage again.
It's not the police that are the problem.

There has got to be surveillance footage showing this event...Macy's camera systems are set up for "Loss Prevention" from EMPLOYEES as well as shoplifters.
We are fast approaching a time when Tazers behind every counter and at every doorway will be an accepted "Rational" response.(Personally I favor real bullets, but recognize that is politically non-viable)

I live in a nice beach town on the east coast of Florida. The top jewelers keep their doors locked and have for years. Doesn’t bother me one bit. In fact I applaud them for doing so. BTW, no robberies either.

Those bystanders who interfered in the police action need to be brought up on charges. You don't interfere when the cops are arresting looters/robbers. Unless one of the thugs grabbed a weapon then you can jump ugly and help the cops. But until then snowflakes, back off.

Simple solution that would be helpful. Have an employee lookout posted outside and watching. When a group of masked, melanated monkeys is seen coming, alert the store, lock the doors, and go to the back for safety. Have that rent-a-cop go stand at the door with gun drawn.

I understand its also not unusual for a smash and grab team to send in spotters to case the joint and phone the team information about where the best stuff is. That allows the team to save lots of time.

Even tho we had multiple footage feeds about that Wendy's shooting last year, the "witnesses" lied thru their teeth accusing the police of all sorts of crazy actions.
Police should always wear and turn on their body cams.

"essentially grabs her arm. She had to fling his arm off and he got more upset when she was saying what he was doing was wrong. And that’s when he decided to grab her and slam her to the floor,"
Because she was resisting. Pull away and this is how you will be treated.

At my Walmart they're recently put many things behind locked doors. I don't know why. You have to get an employee for almost everything now. Makes it harder for those of us who PAY for merchandise.

A few months ago, I was picking up an order at the Macy's in Lynnwood wa. As I was leaving I heard a loud noise behind me and stopped to look and saw a stand that had had packaged candy on it overturned and the candy scattered across the floor, for a moment I thought someone had accidentally bumped into it but a man rushed past me to the door and I said to him, 'you did that on purpose didn't you.' and he said...'yes I did.' He was running pretty fast but it took me a moment to realize what was going on. He obviously had been shoplifting something and was using the spilled candy as a distraction because there were two security people after him. They were dressed as regular shoppers though. They only followed him as far as the door but watched as he raced across the parking lot and they couldn't see him anymore.

A jeweler in some part of the greater LA area a number of years ago got very tired of these sorts of thefts and armed robberies, so he purchased several handguns and located them strategically so he would never be out of reach of a handgun. And, he added an inner door area, sort of an airlock, and HE remotely controled the exterior (armored glass) door, and the inner 'airlock' door, also glass, but on bullet proof.
He buzzed in a 'patron' one morning and as soon as he got through the first door, he stupidly pulled out a gun, expecting the next door to be just open. When it was locked and he couldn't go in or leave....he started firing, bullets shattering the inner glass door, and flying towards the owner.
The owner shot him dead where he stood. There were some news items about it, and he had the doors rebuilt, and the friends of the dead thug promised to kill the owner.
As I remember it, a few weeks later several of them came down and somehow crashed into the store and there was a second shootout, which resulted in two dead thugs this time.
IIRC, the jeweler eventually decided that it was easier to move to a new city or portion of the city and get away from the criminals that had taken over that part of his piece of LA area.
Violent people only understand one thing. And there is a singular solution. It isn't to "treat them nicely".
