They’re New York’s Grimmest. More than half of NYPD cops wish they never joined the force in the first place, according to a damning internal department survey of 6,000 uniformed officers obtained by The Post. (snip) “The city is absolutely not safe at all. Bail reform. Criminals being released. Everyone knows what’s going on,” the veteran cop added. Not only did 56 percent of cops say they wouldn’t put on the badge if they had to do it all over again, but a majority feel the public disrespects (46 percent agree, 42 percent disagree) and distrusts

OP nails it. NYP officers should move to places that are run by sane people and where the citizens would appreciate them.

Blessing in disguise. This is incentive to leave that cesspool of a city and move somewhere sane. Let the animals take over and let the politicians deal with them.

Public service unions typically have crooked leadership that "encourages" their members to vote democrat. Since half of the people on the streets of New York are now criminals, judging by the disrespect, beatings, robberies and the daily murders, the system works for everybody except the law-abiding citizens who pay for it all. Good luck with your new mayor.

The politicians can throw all the money in the world to recruit more police officers, but it’s a big waste if they don’t have their backs.

In all the pictures attached to articles like this the police are being confronted by protestors who appear to be trashy criminal lowlifes. The epitome of this was the picture of the idiot lying on his back beside his bullhorn with his middle fingers extended, looking like a spoiled toddler throwing a tantrum. The other ''defund the police'' idiots in these crowds look just like they would have the same kind of criminal history as their hero-martyrs Rosenbaum, Huber, Freeland, Ziminski, and Grosskreutz; drugs, mental illness, domestic violence, thefts, sexual deviancy, along with long histories of repeated arrests. Their hostility to police is due to personal experiences of having their daily lawless activities curtailed by the attempts to enforce societies laws and protect law-abiding citizens from criminal trash. The current mess is due to politicians and the legacy press deciding to side with the criminal trash for the purpose of punishing law-abiding citizens. Notice that our press is no longer alarmed over violence against Asian-Americans. That is not because the incidents have stopped but because the video footage of numerous incidents showed the actual culprits to be black street thugs and drugged-out homeless lunatics, which was undermining the intended narrative.

China kept silent Monday over growing concern for tennis star Peng Shuai, who has not been heard from since accusing a powerful politician of sexual assault -- the first time the #MeToo movement has struck at the top echelons of the ruling Communist Party. The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) called Sunday for Peng's claims to be "investigated fully, fairly, transparently and without censorship", and current and former players have taken to social media to express fear for the safety of the former Wimbledon and French Open doubles champion.

Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin was fond of claiming on the campaign trail that he would end Terry McAuliffe’s 43-year political career. He did so Tuesday night in emphatic fashion, after McAuliffe ran a tone-deaf, smug campaign in a blue state. (snip) We should not forget that McAuliffe’s role in Virginia politics was mostly due to his close friendship with Bill and Hillary Clinton. McAuliffe was co-chairman of the former president’s 1996 reelection campaign, chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2001-05, and chairman of Hillary Clinton’s failed 2008 presidential campaign.

For more than a year, prosecutors in the Kyle Rittenhouse case have possessed FBI spy video footage taken by a fixed wing plane flying above the Kenosha riots. Kyle Rittenhouse’s defense attorneys say they only learned of its existence recently. On Tuesday, the public finally got a look at it. In just five years, the percentage of Republicans with at least some trust in national news organizations has been cut in half – dropping from 70% in 2016 to 35% this year. This decline is fueling the continued widening of the partisan gap in trust of the media. Nearly eight-in-ten Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (78%) say they have “a lot” or “some” trust in the information that comes from national news organizations – 43 percentage points higher than Republicans and Republican leaners (35%) – according to a new Pew Research Center survey conducted June 14-27, 2021.

We’ve all heard the slogan “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” and human nature seems to bear out that bit of wisdom. The beginning of the book of Genesis recounts the story of Cain and Abel, two brothers who had a fatal falling out long before guns were invented. The only human remains found in the La Brea Tar Pits of Los Angeles belonged to a young woman who seems to have been a homicide victim 9000 years ago, again, long before guns were invented. Even after the invention of guns, people continue to kill each other with everything from common household implements to exotic poisons to complicated bombs.

Steven Spielberg’s long-awaited remake of Stephen Sondheim’s hit musical, West Side Story, is raising eyebrows after the director decided to release the film without subtitles to help English-speaking audiences follow along with the Spanish dialog. Spielberg and writer Tony Kushner decided to hew toward authenticity for the scenes involving the Puerto Rican characters and have them speak in Spanish in many of their scenes. However, Spielberg also decided to forego subtitles to help strictly English-speaking audiences understand what the characters are saying in the Spanish-only and mixed Spanish-English scenes, The Blast reported. Some Spanish-speaking commenters on Twitter were thrilled that Spielberg was excluding English-speakers from understanding the Spanish scenes.

The news of the emerging Omicron variant was greeted with a giant shrug by most of America, and it’s no surprise why. The total failure of our establishment to earn our trust over the last two years of this pandemic made it inevitable that a huge number of people, at best, don’t care, and at worst think it’s a calculated lie designed to prolong this nonsense. The COVIDians are positively turgid over the idea of more mandates, more lockdowns, more masks, and more viro-fascism.
