House Democrats late Friday night clinched a long-sought victory on President Biden’s domestic agenda, passing a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill — while preparing to advance an even larger social spending package — after months of stubborn infighting that’s bedeviled the party and helped deflate Biden’s public standing.
The vote came after progressives caved on a key demand they’d maintained for months: their insistence that the climate and social spending package be passed on the same day as the more popular infrastructure proposal.
On Friday they shed that stipulation, threw their weight behind the public works bill — which had already passed the Senate

The nation argued for five years over the infamous Steele dossier, the document on which the FBI relied to investigate Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. It should have been called the Clinton dossier. Special counsel John Durham this week obtained an indictment of Igor Danchenko, a Russian who provided information for the dossier. Danchenko is charged with lying to the FBI, but the bigger story of the indictment is Democrats’ central role in every aspect of the dossier and the FBI investigation.Never forget the original claim. The lucrative $50,000-per-year journalist tax break that Democrats have tucked within President Biden’s multitrillion-dollar social welfare bill is estimated to cost taxpayers more than $1.6 billion over the next decade. A new analysis of the legislation by the Joint Committee on Taxation, a special congressional panel made up of 10 senior lawmakers from both chambers of Congress, found that taxpayers would be on the hook for more than $1.6 billion if the tax credit becomes law. The credit would allow “local news” outlets to receive a quarterly tax credit, “equal to 50%” of a journalist’s wages up to a cap of $12,500-per-quarter.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Friday escalated the tense standoff over President Biden's domestic agenda, daring liberals in her own caucus to oppose a bipartisan infrastructure bill that's languished in the House for months while negotiators haggled over a larger social spending package.
Progressives, behind Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), have blocked the infrastructure proposal for fear that Senate centrists — Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) — would reject the bigger "family" benefits bill if the more popular public works bill had already reached Biden's desk.
In response, Pelosi has kept the infrastructure bill off the floor, even despite urging the liberals to reconsider their objections

How much do Joe Biden and the Democrats care about the problems that Americans are facing with Biden inflation, in particular rising food and gas prices?
Biden previously said that he didn’t see any “near term” solution for the rising gas prices. He went overseas, begged Russia and Saudi Arabia to pump more saying it was “not right,” looking incredibly weak with such pleading. Meanwhile, he’s been lobbying against fossil fuels in America and doing in our energy production with moves like cutting the Keystone XL pipeline and the Willow Project for more drilling in Alaska.

As a former congressional staffer who has seen what happens to new movements when they come to Washington with little more than energy and talking points, I think it’s important for national conservatives to think carefully and concretely about policy. But more important than policy, especially in this moment, is understanding where policy comes from.
Conservatism is not a set of legislative goals like lowering taxes, school choice, or even border security. It’s a set of principles or goods – what Russell Kirk called “the permanent things,” like family, opportunity, order, faith, and freedom.

America’s employers accelerated their hiring last month, adding a solid 531,000 jobs, the most since July and a sign that the recovery from the pandemic recession is overcoming a virus-induced slowdown. Friday’s report from the Labor Department also showed that the unemployment rate fell to 4.6% last month from 4.8% in September. That is a comparatively low level though still well above the pre-pandemic jobless rate of 3.5%. And the job gains in August and September weren’t as weak as initially reported: The government increased its estimate of hiring for those two months by a hefty combined 235,000 jobs. CORRECTION*

They’re doubling down on this fake narrative. It was totally predictable but it’s still amusing. Again, the liberal media being beclowning themselves when they lose elections, they think they’re entitled to win will never be boring—ever. The best part is you see them act as if they’re yards smarter than anyone else. CNN’s Don Lemon is like that when in fact he’s one of the biggest morons on the network. The GOP won, therefore, its white supremacy. It’s like clockwork—but someone decided to comb through precincts in Virginia, where Republicans had an especially good night, and jammed that fake white nationalist narrative through the woodchipper.

Sometimes you want to hear from the strategists rather than the candidate. With all due respect to Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin — who, for a first-timer from the world of high finance, proved to be remarkably disciplined on the stump (few verbal missteps) and surprisingly motivational to Republicans (record turnout) — he's not all that interesting. What is interesting is how he won. How did his campaign win a state by two points one year after his party lost it by 10 points? How did his strategists view Fox News and Twitter, where a funhouse mirror version of the race often played out?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi moved to save face with a procedural vote on Democrats' reconciliation bill Friday after an effort to pass it stalled yet again when a small group of moderates demanded the House wait for scores from the Congressional Budget Office. But that plan, which includes a vote on the infrastructure bill as well, may also backfire on top Democrats due to progressive opposition to passing infrastructure without reconciliation. Danchenko has been charged with five counts of lying to the FBI in interviews during 2017, as the bureau struggled in futility to verify outlandish allegations that Donald Trump and his campaign were clandestine agents of the Kremlin. Those allegations were compiled in the so-called Steele dossier, which the FBI relied on in obtaining surveillance warrants from a secret federal court. On August 25, 2020, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, armed with an AR-15 and a medical kit, went to Kenosha, Wisconsin to offer first aid and protect businesses against looting and arson. (snip) The trial started this week, and it's been sufficiently fascinating, thanks to mismanaged evidence (including FBI wrongdoing) and an incompetent prosecutor, to merit a short review. (snip) the prosecution's insistent questioning regarding the circumstances of Rosenbaum's death revealed that Kyle was an amiable young man who avoided confrontations and was actively trying to help people; that Rosenbaum threatened to kill him

Reading the recent column by fellow Blue State Conservative contributor John Eidson got me to thinking about educational experiences of my own. It’s always a good column when it makes one think.
Reading it, there was a vivid memory of when I was working at a regional campus of The Ohio State University as an academic advisor.
I met with a just-admitted young black woman from Cleveland, OH. I was looking forward to meeting her after having reviewed her high school transcript. It was all A’s and B’s with other indicators of academic excellence. At least, that was what the transcript showed.

President Joe Biden “may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own Justice Department,” the ACLU said, after Clueless Joe angrily called a report that Justice would give $450,000-per-person payoffs to illegal immigrant families separated at the border “garbage.”And that’s the Biden administration in a nutshell, isn’t it? We’ve got: A terrible policy. Biden not knowing what the he** is going on. The president insulting the press, in this case both the Wall Street Journal, which revealed the payoffs, and Fox News’ Peter Doocy,

U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, reacted Thursday night on "The Ingraham Angle" to news that U.S. troops had been badly beaten by their British counterparts while both groups underwent a training exercise in California.
Hawley suggested the incident exemplified misplaced priorities in the U.S. military under the Biden administration – and worried that China might draw some conclusions about U.S. war readiness.

President Joe Biden says he’s been addressing supply chain problems “since Day One,” but that’s consisted mainly of appointing task forces and holding summits. His latest bold “action” was to beg G-20 leaders to “help address global supply chain issues.”
The one concrete step Biden has taken was, he said, to get the Los Angeles ports to stay open 24/7, which he announced on Oct. 13. Biden said this has the “potential to be a gamechanger.” A White House fact sheet declared that it “will speed up shipments of goods throughout the country.”
Except, that’s not what’s happened.
In fact, things have gotten worse at those ports, not better, since Biden’s “game changer.”

“FDA advisory panel OKs Pfizer vaccine for children 5 to 11,” announced a recent NBC News headline.
How could a panel that is supposedly composed of rational clear-headed scientists make such an inexplicable recommendation? (snip) Children under 12 years of age are nearly 1000 percent more likely to be killed in a vehicular mishap than to die of Covid-19. (snip) your child is nearly 200 percent more likely to be struck by lightning than to be felled by Covid. (snip) Not only there is no real benefit of doing so, but there are also considerable risks associated with this procedure.

An Iowa student asked Turncoat Vice President Mike Pence why he “bucked Trump” and went ahead and certified the clearly fraudulent election results on January 6th.Pence did this while President Trump was speaking to over a million supporters at the Ellipse in Washington DC. The people knew the election was stolen on Jan. 6th. And today a majority of American voters still believe Democrats cheated to in in 2020.On Thursday night an Iowa student asked Mike Pence for the name of the person who told him to buck Trump and certify the 2020 election results.

Bank of America is warning that gas prices could go significantly higher than they currently are as Americans are currently paying approximately $3.41 per gallon across the U.S. for regular and just over $4 per gallon for premium.
“Bank of America is now predicting that Brent crude oil, which drives gas prices, will zoom to $120 a barrel by June 2022,” CNN reported. “That’s 45% higher than current levels.”
Francisco Blanch, Bank of America’s head of global commodities, spoke with CNN about the prediction, noting that back in June he predicted that the price of crude oil would shoot to $100 a barrel.

Shining further light on today's arrest of Igor Danchenko - the primary source for the debunked Steele dossier - is constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley, who calls it a "seismic development." (Tweets) More via Jonathanturley.org:The office of Special Counsel John Durham has confirmed that Igor Danchenko, a key source for British ex-spy Christopher Steele, has been arrested. This is the third arrest by Durham who is moving toward the prosecution stage of his investigation into the origins of the Russian collusion scandal. Durham is variously described as either painfully methodical or positively glacial as a prosecutor. But he is widely credited with being a dogged and absolutely apolitical prosecutor.

Special counsel John Durham’s indictment of Igor Danchenko, the principal source for the bogus Steele dossier used by the FBI as a basis for the Trump-Russia investigation, further illustrates that Durham has his sights set on the Clinton campaign.Danchenko has been charged with five counts of lying to the FBI in interviews during 2017, as the bureau struggled in futility to verify outlandish allegations that Donald Trump and his campaign were clandestine agents of the Kremlin. Those allegations were compiled in the so-called Steele dossier, which the FBI relied on in obtaining surveillance warrants from a secret federal court. The dossier was generated by the Clinton campaign.
