President Joe Biden says he’s been addressing supply chain problems “since Day One,” but that’s consisted mainly of appointing task forces and holding summits. His latest bold “action” was to beg G-20 leaders to “help address global supply chain issues.”
The one concrete step Biden has taken was, he said, to get the Los Angeles ports to stay open 24/7, which he announced on Oct. 13. Biden said this has the “potential to be a gamechanger.” A White House fact sheet declared that it “will speed up shipments of goods throughout the country.”
Except, that’s not what’s happened.
In fact, things have gotten worse at those ports, not better, since Biden’s “game changer.”

The country will not accept communism until it is on its knees. This is simple sabotage of the supply chain and nothing more.

Why is everyone looking to the Biden/Harris illegal communist death regime to fix the supply chain problem and instead it is getting worse? Answer: They don't want to fix it and want it to get worse and want shortages of all kinds to either appear or worsen. They want to destroy us and control the survivors. They are communists and want to rule over our everyday lives by choking off the supply of fuel, food, medical care etc.
The democrat death communists hate our country even more than their paymasters - The Communist Chinese.
They don't want to fix this problem that they created. All part of their plan.
Traitors and murderers.

That was certainly unexpected. Slow Joe's Midas Touch is still functioning perfectly even if his brain is fried. FJB

The problem as I understand it is inability to move the containers from the port areas not the ports themselves. This was brought on by California's restrictive truck engine emission regulations which have been allowed by the EPA.

Because of California's new truck emissions regulations only newer trucks can enter the ports to pickup freight. That eliminates most of the trucks/trucking companies from entering the ports and when California requires all electric trucks it will get even worse. No mention of this in the article. The port can unload all the containers it wants but with so few trucks available nothing will change. Until California lifts or grants a moratorium on truck emissions there will be no supply chain "Fix"! Simple as that!

my understanding was that environmental rules on the age of trucks used to move cargo from ca ports was the cause of the bottle neck. unloading more cargo into the ports does not address that issue.

I don't believe this is planned. This is shear incompetence on display. And what set the table for this debacle was liberal California environmental laws and union demands.
All of this was entirely avoidable. But whats frightening is how much influence California has over what appears on my store shelves in Georgia.

He said that he addressed the problem. He did not say he had done anything about the problem.
His address: problem, solve yourself.
See?
He is so not into solving problems. Just give him his ice cream.
Wipe his butt.
Give him his nap.
But don't bother him with questions.

It's been mentioned elsewhere that these ports handle 40% of imports. That leaves us very vulnerable. What if a port is shut down for some reason? A fire, power failure, earthquake, a ship in distress, even terror attack etc... could be a disaster.

Several years ago the California Legislature limited harbor cargo loading by independent owner/operator truckers to those whose vehicles are less than three years old. There simply are not enough unionized drivers, whose corporate-owned trucks are exempted, to get the job done.

How bad is it? Saw somrthing last week I'd never seen before in 25 years of my I-5 commute: two container ships anchored off the coast of Camp Pendleton in San Diego County.

The overstuffed warehouses can't be stuffed any more. They can continue unloaded ships all they want, but if there aren't enough trucks to ship the goods, it's just being piled up.

Those ports can't be fixed because they are located in Kalifornia. However the net result may eventually be good because it will tend to give a cost advantage to producing our goods on this side of the ocean.
