Warren posted a tweet on Friday after she received a response from Amazon to a letter last month about the sale of the books in question. The senator posted Amazon’s response in the tweet, where she attacked the company and accused it of not being willing to take down the books. Kind of makes your head spin. She cannot be so ignorant that she does not realize that openly suppressing information only strengthens the resolve of the "vaccine hesitant", can she? On the other hand, being able to say "There is consensus among all doctors and scientists that the vaccine is safe and effective." because no one can point to published contrary evidence provides justification for totalitarian action. Hmmm, maybe that's a better explanation.

It's time for Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire. With both the White House and Senate in their control (for now), Democrats have what has become the rare moment to replace the longtime liberal justice on their own terms and stem the Court's undemocratic move to the right. Breyer needs to give the party that chance. Now. The rarest of appointments The narrow victories in Georgia by Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock paved the way for a Democratic Senate majority, and with it, the ability to freely appoint federal judges and justices. The Biden administration and the Senate

The U.S. economy is facing a new threat: rising energy prices. Crude oil has risen 64% this year to a seven-year high. Natural-gas prices have roughly doubled over the past six months to a seven-year high. Heating oil has risen 68% this year. Prices at the pump are up nearly a dollar over the past 12 months to a national average just over $3 a gallon. Coal prices are at records. Higher energy prices could push up inflation in coming months, damp consumer spending on other products and services, and ultimately slow the U.S. recovery, economists say. “For consumers it’s

TEHRAN, Iran — Abolhassan Banisadr, Iran's first president after the country's 1979 Islamic Revolution who fled Tehran after being impeached for challenging the growing power of clerics as the nation became a theocracy, died Saturday. He was 88. Among a sea of black-robed Shiite clerics, Banisadr stood out for his Western-style suits and a background so French that it was in philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre that he confided his belief he'd be Iran’s first president some 15 years before it happened. Those differences only isolated him as the nationalist sought to implement a socialist style economy in Iran underpinned by a

The anemic September employment report, with only 194,000 jobs added, illustrates the extent to which the recovery stalled as coronavirus cases surged last month, but it also signals something deeper: America’s unemployed are still struggling with child-care and health issues, and they are reluctant to return to jobs they see as unsafe or undercompensated. (Snip) The numbers are striking: 309,000 women over age 20 dropped out of the labor force in September, meaning they quit work or halted their job searches. In contrast, 182,000 men joined the labor force, Labor Department data showed. The simplest explanation for the mediocre jobs

SEATTLE - Twenty years ago, just days before the 9/11 attacks on the United States crippled the aerospace industry, Boeing Co (BA.N) moved its headquarters from its historic Seattle manufacturing hub to a stylish downtown Chicago skyscraper. Two decades on, in the midst of a fresh crisis shaking the industry, Boeing's corporate hub is in a state of limbo. A new crop of

When even CNN — usually all in to pimp for Biden — is acknowledging how underwater he is in job approval. As CNN’s John Berman and Harry Enten put it, the technical term is “not good.” He’s down 10 points among Democrats, 12 among Republicans, but among independents, he’s down 19 points.
