California Gov Gavin Newsom signs law
to eventually ban gas-powered lawn equipment

California will soon ban the sale of new gas-powered leaf blowers and lawn mowers after Governor Gavin Newsom signed off on the new law on Saturday. The move is aimed at curbing emissions from a category of small engines on pace to produce more pollution each year than passenger vehicles. The gas-powered equipment to be banned uses small off-road engines, a broad category that includes generators, lawn equipment, pressure washers, chainsaws, weed trimmers and even golf carts. Under the new law these machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they'll have to be battery-powered or plug-in.(Snip)'This is a pretty modest approach to trying

Comments:

Soon enough we'll all owning nothing and we'll like it, with every spare dollar drained from our pockets. Freedom of choice is merely a byword when corporations and governments have products and influence to sell. Meanwhile, the universally Chinese-made battery packs in such products are incredibly unreliable, which interrupts work and produces a lot of landfill waste (another profit opportunity for those with government connections).

Right, Gov Nuisance, power the mowers from the grid that can't even keep the lights on.

CA can't even keep the lights on anymore, but they will ban generators AND mandate electric cars and electric lawn mowers. In other new, Gov Hairgel also signed a mandate for vaccines for children, even though his own 12 year old remains unvaccinated. Some animals are more equal than others...

So, time for ultra expensive electric mowers. They are OK for a postage stamp yard, but I mow more than 7 acres, and we use three mowers, a stander, a tractor and a yard mower for around the house. Electrics are worthless, and fortunately, I'm not in California, not under the thumb of these lunatics.

"Off road engines"...yup, certainly a class of powered equipt custom made to be restricted to batteries and plug in..All of that forest clearing to stop the rampant wildfires can "Certainly" be done with electric plug in chainsaws. And "battery" powered stuff, that cannot be charged with Gas Generators anymore. Many places have outlawed 2 stroke motors for boats, but still allow 4stroke powered equipment, that would make MUCH more sense. Backpack blowers are incredibly loud, obnoxious and truly are high polluters...while Newsome uses the "2017 Camry to denver per Hour" comparison...an earlier study showed an 8hr shift with one emitted more pollution than the largest sized Dodge Ram truck, w the largest engine would emit driving from Dallas to Anchorage.

No problem. Get goats to eat the weeds, horses to eat the grass and giraffes to eat the leaves before they hit the ground. PS If you have space, build a barn but wait until the price of lumber gets back to "normal"

Bein Peasants don't need lawns. And the elite with their many palatial estates have the slave level cheap labor of those second class citizens they created from Mexico to push manually operated equipment like back in the 1800's when peasants still knew how to be peasants. Now buy your tiny house, peddle your bicycles, set your AC to 94, and go to the required Party Pep-Rallys. Your betters will be flying in from one of their mansions in their private jets. Idiots.

Sorry! We could not put out the forest fire. We could not use gas-powered chain saws to create a break to stop the fire. Unfortunately, the cords for electric chain saws don't stretch the required 50 miles. It's your fault that you wanted to live near trees.

I agree with #10. If this wasn't so SAD, it would be funny! And YES, Voters put him back in Office, so if those of you, who didn't vote for him in the Recall, want to have any control over your lives, I suggest you put a For Sale sign in your front yard and head to a RED State to House Hunt! Things are only going to get worse in CA. The only people left there are going to be the Progressives. It's a shame they have ruined your Beautiful State, but it's happened and the only way out is, well, OUT! I live in Florida where life is good! I grew up in Illinois and lived there until I was 50! I would never go back to that Democrat State. I know it's hard to leave everything you know, but believe me, there is a better life ahead if you just get the heck out while you can. You never know when when Gov. Newsom will decree that NOBODY leaves the State without His approval. We laugh at that, but the way things are going there, nothing would surprise me!

Long ago, when I was a child some 70 years ago, there were lawnmowers that were several big blades in a circle and the power to use it came from your arms and feet.No engine necessary. Can you see hundreds of millions of lawns being cut by these old time mowers? Don't laugh, it could happen. Bet AlGore is singing and dancing today.

The idiots that make such laws never think beyond a postage stamp lawn. Do they consider the equipment needed to fight California's awful forest fires. What do they think is used by power companies to clear right of ways? You could probably take all the small gas powered engines in the state and the emissions wouldn't equal those of the traffic in one lane on the interstate.

Posters, please stop saying Gavin won the recall election! He didn't. Again, the Leftists/Communists/Marxists stole it by mail in ballots, ballots that could be printed off the internet, illegal aliens voting, crooked voting machines, ballot harvesting by whoever, and who knows who counted the ballots! We know. We lived there before escaping. And old nasty Nancy bragged before the voting that Grusome was going to win because she knew. And we know old crooked Pelousy can be counted on to win elections by any means necessary. She is EVIL! and so is the whole demonrat apparatus in CA. At this point, my only hope is that Pelousy, et al, will face God, hopefully soon, and pay the consequences for their evil deeds. Fervent prayer for the remaining righteous Californians left behind. We’ve been talking about how bad the polling has been for Joe Biden, even in deep-blue states like Minnesota. How do you know when it’s getting really bad? When even CNN — usually all in to pimp for Biden — is acknowledging how underwater he is in job approval. He’s down even with Democrats, but what they say is really animating the poll is how much he has dropped with independents. As CNN’s John Berman and Harry Enten put it, the technical term is “not good.” He’s down 10 points among Democrats, 12 among Republicans, but among independents, he’s down 19 points.

President Biden on Monday marked National Coming Out Day—a holiday encouraging LGBTQ people to be open about their sexuality—by condemning Republican state legislatures for bills he says unfairly discriminate against the LGBTQ community. “Despite the extraordinary progress our nation has made, our work to ensure the full promise of equality is not yet done,” Mr. Biden said in a statement. “Anti-LGBTQ+ bills still proliferate in state legislatures. Bullying and harassment—particularly of young transgender Americans and LGBTQ+ people of color—still abounds, diminishing our national character. “From defeating discriminatory bills to passing the Equality Act, we have more work to do to ensure that every American can live free

It’s that time again, time to find a new 007 as Daniel Craig retires from the iconic role after five tries. [Snip] So who will be Eon Productions No. 7 007? Diversity seems to be the big catchphrase these days. Is it time for a change? A black man? A black woman? Hispanic? Transgender? Would audiences put up with a radical departure like a female secret agent who orders a Chardonnay spritzer? Not shaken. Not stirred? She’d have to be very good to

Minnetonka Moccasin Co., the Minneapolis company that over 75 years popularized Native American-styled footwear across the country, issued a formal apology Monday for adopting Native American culture without acknowledgment. The company, which dropped "moccasin" from its logo in 2008, has now removed the word from much of its corporate messaging and is calling itself simply Minnetonka. "Minnetonka deeply and meaningfully apologizes for having benefited from selling Native-inspired designs without directly honoring Native culture or communities," the company said in a statement. The company said it would work more closely with Native American artists and businesses and continue to contribute to Native American causes. "While our history with appropriation

This news is not for the traditional iteration of Clark Kent, but instead his 17-year-old son, Jon, who has taken up his father's mantle.(Snip)“The question for Jon (and for our creative team) is, what should a new Superman fight for today? Can a 17-year-old Superman battle giant robots while ignoring the climate crisis? Of course not.
