Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday signed a law that requires large California retailers to maintain gender neutral toy and childcare sections. The new law, Assembly Bill 1084, requires that retailers with 500 or more employees in the state of California "maintain a gender neutral section or area, to be labeled at the discretion of the retailer, in which a reasonable selection of the items and toys for children that it sells shall be displayed, regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or for boys," according to the legislative counsel's digest. There's only one way this insanity is going to stop, and it's not with kind words.

So, the toy departments at these retailers is normally a jumble anyways. The barista Ken dolls (Complete with a masters diploma in psychology) are already hanging on hooks next to the #MeToo Barbies.

Nietszche called it: In individuals, insanity is the exception but in peoples, nations and California, it is the rule.

Sometimes it’s better to walk away from insanity than to continue enabling it.

#2 offers a momentary consolation... But this is the "camel's nose under the tent" that will lead to a law declaring that anything NOT "gender neutral" will result in fines or closure of a store. The law will mandate "gender neutrality" to keep any business license -- I bet it will even apply to strip clubs.

I suppose children's Mao Suits would qualify as gender-neutral.

We know the answer, but I'll ask anyway: is this for the benefit of the child or the parent?
Every child on every visit to a store will gravitate to the displays most attractive to them, and find what they like and want with NO help. If a child has a doll in mind, they will look in that section. Ditto for trucks, sports equipment, arts/crafts supplies, puzzles, building blocks, games, etc. We've all attempted steering them to things WE think they should choose, and fail miserably at it.
I think this is targeting the parents, particularly those who find it self-validating to have the latest SJW accessory of a trans or gender-neutral child. Added bonus to the overseers who promote this garbage: irritating and agitating against traditional norms and the parents who promote them.

Well, I'm sure glad all of California's other problems have been solved so the government can concentrate on store design.

I was thinking about making roast beef for dinner but now I hesitate to make that decision until I get the government mandate.

Ugh! Another "CA is lost" story. If anyone in CA has an ounce of sanity left, GET OUT!

Let's discuss this word "mandate".
A king issues a mandate. A dictator issues a mandate.
In America we have "laws".
None of this is a law, unless a legislative body has passed a law through both their house and senate!

You have to be insane to live in California. What is a "gender neutral section". How does one get a copy of the communist code book to explain all of these new terms. So you have to maintain a gender neutral section or area. How is that done. I mean, do you need special tools to maintain that area. Do you need special people to maintain it. How do you label a football to be gender neutral. How do you label a doll house to be gender neutral. Or maybe it would just be better to label the people who institute these policies as totally insane whack jobs. Yea that sounds pretty neutral. Sickening...

A read of the article reveals that this is being pushed by a man who has Phluid Project gender neutral clothing that he’s peddling. This is sort of funny to me as I recall the first Gap stores were to a great extent gender neutral. Some of the best-looking outdoor and sports clothes (jackets, Tshirts and so forth) came from Gap. I still love a red and navy fleece pullover jacket that I bought decades ago for $19! In those days, they sold well made items with great style. Now they sell imported junk.
I am not the least bit gender-confused. I’ve always loved good looking clothes no matter where I found them… I also thought my brother’s stuff - his lead army soldiers (all men), trucks and trains were more interesting than dolls who seemed so dead.
The mandate described in the article is absurd. What sort of snowflakes are being protected and from what?

Bill sponsor Low says this is something the industry was already doing, and “we just had to catch up”. Why a law? Why not let the industry and the market decide? Wonder how much the owner of the Phluid Project paid him?

OK, empty a single shelf, put up a sign up that says Gender Neutral, and leave the rest of the store in place.

He conveniently delayed signing this bill until the recall election was over. I guess Biden's FBI will be policing the store aisles for Gender neutral compliance.
