British Airways has instructed pilots and cabin crew not to refer to passengers as 'ladies and gentlemen' in an effort to celebrate 'diversity and inclusion'. Britain's flagship carrier has abandoned the greeting in favour of more gender-neutral terms, reportedly to respect wider social norms and make children feel included. Other major airlines, including Lufthansa, easyJet and Air Canada, have already adopted gender-neutral language.
Just refer to passengers as "comrades" and be done with it.
And with such fools in management of the airline, remind me to never ever fly British Airways.

We are made up of two SEXES (not genders, that is also a misuse of the English language). Stop catering to these fruits.

I the article drones on and on about the new greeting but never says what the new greeting is or gives an idea what it might be. The airlines say they are celebrating diversify by removing ladies & gentlemen. How is getting rid of this celebrating anything? Welcome aboard they humans and non aborted viable tissue masses. Whatever your gender choice today, have a day that fits your truth. Thank you for flying PC Airlines.

The good news is that I haven't flown on British airlines in a long time.
These dingbats really are mentally ill.

Just keep your diversity and inclusion out of the cockpit. Not that I would fly either way but I wouldn't like anything to fall on my house.

There is so much evil and corruption in the world, using ladies and gentlemen may not be applicable. Those terms should be earned, not so generously distributed out.

Pity. It was one of my favorite airlines and the last one to fly 747s, which had the most spacious coach seats I have ever flown. ajust as well that I don't fly at all anymore.

All this to appease a miniscule percentage of the population with emotional issues who think they are something that they are not. We used to give psychological treatment to people with such delusions. Now the "progressive" crowd wants to legitimize them.

I don’t give a hoot what some brainwashed ditz calls me…but I do want well trained, competent pilots in the cockpit.

It's simply a long-standing courtesy. Everybody knows that not all males are "Gentlemen" and not all females are "Ladies" but the benefit of the doubt is extended to all. Attempting to identify overweight, green-haired, tattooed, nose and tongue pierced strangers as what they actually are on a plane would delay every flight unnecessarily.

I favor 'you people' as appropriate. Larry David would agree. (He honors diversity by mocking every category of humans, including the deaf, blind, mentally challenged, physically challenged, Jews, Christians, Christian Scientists, Muslims, Lesbians, Male Homosexuals, babies and doting parents, and I probably skipped over a category of the perpetually offended. And who can forget the Bubble Boy? (Too bad Larry David is a leftist loon.)
I can hardly wait to see what he does with Kung Flu, when Curb Your Enthusiasm returns to HBO.

So what gender neutral term have they chosen to refer to the cockpit? Maybe the terminally offended will be ok with calling the cockpit, the steering thingy area.

Inboards and Outboards will suffice we'll get the picture. I won't be long the entire planet will be reduced to baby babbling and guttural grunts like cavemen once language communication is destroyed.

I must agree with #9 in being dissatisfied because the author fails to list the alternatives. Certainly "Ladies and Gentlemen" applied only to the upper crust who didn't have to work. In the early days of passenger aviation using that term was accurate and it just persisted out of habit. I'm afraid in this day and age, however, the airlines will go broke due to the large fines they will pay because of the long delays resulting from the pilots listing every imaginable ( and unimaginable) woke shade of humanity (if humanity is an inclusive enough word) before they can unintelligibley say, "Welcome aboard."

British Airways must be optimally managed if they have nothing to do but brainstorm scat such as this. Airlines always need to borrow money so this likely is intended to enhance their ESG score.

The pilots and cabin crew aren't there to "celebrate". They're there to fly the plane and serve the passengers.

What kind of "celebration" is this, to refuse recognition of my gender? Isn't that exclusionary?

At the very least, "Diversity" must take into account relative prevalence, meaning dictates to make everything "gender-neutral" are even more insane than the underlying anthropological ideology of gender-as-identity.
