What is it about academics and arson?

Original Article

You've heard of "going postal:? Maybe the next odious term should be "going academic." We're seeing an awful lot of arson as cause for California's wildfires and at treasured institutions being perpetrated by academics. Here's the latest going on near Redding, California from the Washington Post: Thousands of people have fled their homes to escape a wildfire engulfing a forest in California’s north, which authorities believe was sparked deliberately. Police have arrested a 30-year-old woman on charges of igniting the Fawn fire. Workers at a quarry in Shasta County said they saw the woman trespassing last Wednesday before the fire erupted in a remote canyon

Comments:

In the best pic I have seen of this latest arsonist, she has a "1,000 yard stare" which seems to be indicative of mental problems. My bet is too many drugs.
The illegal alien Danish guy who burned 170 square miles in southern Colorado and 140 homes was apparently in Colorado for the legal dope. He claims it was an accident. And he's been declared mentally incompetent to stand trial. Apparently too many drugs. I suspect that this will become a more and more common theme.
Like, wow, man.

Arsonists are difficult to catch because of the nature of their deeds. Some years back, we in central Florida had a rash of big fires, not as big as CA, but enough to destroy homes and families. There were printed signs in store windows with a picture of a 9mm which said 'Arsonists Will Be Shot' Seems like every legal gun owner should be deputized to arrest (or shoot) arsonists in the act.

I began College at age 32. I began by reading the entire University of California book. I was advised that about 40 unites would apply to my major and the rest of the units would be to broaden my education. I learned about jails, entrails and more. I assumed the broadness of the education was to give to me a large section of information which I would find handy in my life. Some of the stuff was not so hot, and I made decisions then and there. I figured that the curricula were designed to help me add something to the planet and also make me marketable as an employee. It worked. I now know that a cigarette lighter is for cigarettes and not for starting forest fires.

What is it about some academics and the notion that the ends justify the means? And what if the ends are “waking society” to the imminent danger of climate change? Is that sufficient excuse to burn down a forest?

Another Columbus Day has come and gone. Although it was "celebrated" with the usual vitriol and outraged "wokeism" concerning the Italian explorer's alleged "genocide" against the natives, one influential voice came to Columbus's defense: on October 11, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a proclamation, an excerpt of which follows: Columbus stands a singular figure in Western Civilization, who exemplified courage, risk-taking, and heroism in the face of enormous odds; as a visionary who saw the possibilities of exploration beyond Europe; and as a founding father who laid the foundation for what would one day become the United States of America

With a domestic approval rating of just 38%, Joe Biden is fast becoming one of the most unpopular presidents in modern U.S. history at such an early stage of a presidency. The catastrophic Afghanistan withdrawal, a massive crisis on the southern border, and a Socialist-style big government economic agenda have all combined to disillusion American voters. Is the leader of the free world though faring any better on the international stage? After all, Biden boasted on the campaign trail about "restoring" America’s standing and credibility across the globe after the supposedly reckless approach of the Trump era.

More than 500 pages of internal documents from DC Metropolitan Police concerning the fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol on Jan. 6 reveal witness accounts stating she was not holding a weapon at the time of her death and how "upset" the officer was after shooting her. "These previously secret records show there was no good reason to shoot and kill Ashli Babbitt," stated Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, which obtained the documents through a May 2021 FOIA lawsuit. "The Biden-Garland Justice Department and the Pelosi Congress have much to answer for the over the mishandling and cover-up of this scandalous killing of an American citizen

One of the things that COVID and the vaccines have brought to the fore is the fact that, even in the third decade of the 21st century, as the Book of Common Prayer says, “in the midst of life, we are in death.” In the modern age, it’s been easy to forget that fact. But what if it’s government or other third-party dictates that are forcing that death upon us, rather than our free choice as citizens in a supposed free country. What then? In Moby Dick, Herman Melville wrote about rope, specifically the ropes attached to harpoons. A whale would be sighted, the men would row out, and harpoons

Florida mom Quisha King called for a "mass exodus" from the public school system, arguing that school systems left parents with no other choice for fighting left-wing ideas. Her comments came during the annual Family Research Council's Pray Vote Stand Summit during a Thursday panel on "Fighting Indoctrination on a National Scale." "I really think at this point the only thing to do is have a mass exodus from the public school system – that's it," King said. In response, she received prolonged applause, and many in the audience stood to their feet at the Leesburg, Virginia, event. King previously drew national attention for her speech opposing critical race theory (CRT)

Affirmative Action: Obviously a euphemism for institutionalized racism. Apparently, it's OK to discriminate against people of European descent rather than blindly consider merit. And in the absence of merit, mediocracy becomes more prevalent. This is the left's preferred remedy, rather than allow the "clients" of this practice better access to quality education so they can have more marketable skills. Minimum Wage: Based on the myth that standards of living can be elevated by government edict rather than increases in productivity. Advocates for minimum wage rely on the slander that employers (AKA job-creators) exploit their workers, and they confuse the price of a worker's time with its value.

In March 2021, a year into the Covid-19 pandemic, the New York Times shared the results of a comprehensive survey of 35,000 Americans done by Gallup and Franklin Templeton. True to form, the Times refused to face the survey’s epic implications. The Times started pulling punches in the headline, “Covid’s Partisan Errors: Republicans tend to underestimate Covid risks — and Democrats tend to exaggerate them.” This equivocation papered over the real news hook of the story, namely that health officials and their media enablers scared policy makers, especially in blue states, into making catastrophic, fear-based misjudgments.

The associate director of the polling company that conducted the survey, Savanta ComRes, suggested that the finding could be partially attributed to the proliferation of virtual prayers and religious services during the pandemic. Ten percent of British adults reported in January that their faith is stronger as a result of the pandemic, according to the Pew Research Center. Growth in faith during the pandemic was even more pronounced in the U.S.

The data are intended for use by other government agencies and elected officials for policy decisions. Washington–Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe has won back his full pension as part of a settlement of his lawsuit arising from his firing during the Trump administration more than three years ago, his lawyers announced Thursday. McCabe, a frequent target of then-President Donald Trump’s ire, was fired in March 2018 by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions after the Justice Department’s inspector general determined he had misled internal investigators about his involvement in a news media leak. The termination came hours before he was to have retired, denying him his pension. McCabe has denied intentionally deceiving anyone, was never criminally charged and blasted his firing as politically motivated.

During the 2020 election, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg spent hundreds of millions of dollars to turn out likely Democratic voters. But this wasn’t traditional political spending. He funded a targeted, private takeover of government election operations by nominally nonpartisan — but demonstrably ideological — nonprofit organizations.Analysis conducted by our team demonstrates this money significantly increased Joe Biden’s vote margin in key swing states. In places like Georgia, when Biden won by 12,000 votes, and Arizona, where he won by 10,000, the spending likely put him over the top.

They are being released with little or no supervision and no fear of deportation. The fact is that no matter how many times DHS Secretary Mayorkas says the border is closed, the numbers don’t lie. Since March, at least 160,000 illegal migrants have been released into the United States. There is a broad use of limited parole authority that made more than 30,000 migrants eligible for work permits
