A massive ransomware attack that affected thousands of victims continued to cause chaos on Sunday as the White House pledged “full resources” to probe the breach. Companies across the globe appear to have been affected through compromised software, asked to pay ransoms reported from $45,000 up to $5 million as the full breadth of Friday’s attack came into focus. The ransomware hit Florida-based Kaseya and spread through a slew of companies, many which use its software to serve multiple customers.CORRECTION*

Comments:

We had the Colonial Pipeline, then the meat processing company, and plenty of others. Now this one. But don't worry everyone, we're in good hands. Biden "told Putin we will respond," Everything is going to be fine.

Biden’s going to demand a $200,000 donation to his family trust. Purely voluntary of course. All totally legal. Only happy thoughts from now on citizens! The lockdowns and toilet paper shortage threats will continue until morale improves and the reporters say in unison “good morning dear leader!”

FTA: “We extend our thanks to the cybersecurity professionals across the FBI, CISA, and the intelligence community for working around the clock to respond to this incident.” The same crew of clowns that are powerless to stop endless robocalls from "the warrantee department," James from human resources," etc. Right. Gasoline prices skyrocketing, supply chain disruptions caused by inflation and outlandish federal unemployment benefits and capricious government shutdowns? Presto, here come the "Russian hackers" to take the blame.

The only way to respond is to disconnect your business servers from the internet...there really is no need for your CEO to access the business from the golf course, or the steam room, or his Mercedes...

Has anyone checked to see if Kaseya or the others were on the "list" Zhou gave Putin? If the companies were not on the list, then they are fair game according to Zhou.

Earlier this year a Biden Administration official responded to the first ransomware attack by stating that "ransomware is here to stay." The hackers got the message.

#2 is dead on. One day the "hackers" are going to over price the wrong company. They may have an old timer or two that remember the 'good old days' of just hiring a mercenary force to do your bidding.

BOE botched NYC mayoral primary results by including ‘test’ run 14 replies

The too-close-to-call Democratic primary race that will likely decide New York’s next mayor was thrown into disarray after election officials admitted they accidentally included “test” results in the vote count, leading to 135,000 extra ballots. The botching of the city’s first ranked-choice election was first flagged by front-runner Eric Adams, who pointed out that preliminary results from the Board of Elections showed that 941,832 votes were cast for the Democratic mayoral nomination, a huge increase from the 799,827 that were counted on primary day last week. The BOE clarified its screwup in a tweet Tuesday night.

Years ago, because my best friend had some Polish connections, I’d sometimes attend a “Polish” Catholic church in Brooklyn, New York City. Attendance was great enough so that some parishioners had to participate in Mass on the sidewalk, and they, at the appointed times, would kneel down on the pavement as those inside the church knelt in their pews. But something else that occurred would’ve also been striking to too many American Catholics: After the consecration, fully half the parish did not go up to receive Communion. The reason why was that, unlike people such as Joe Biden and  CORRECTION*

Something’s fishy. At least one doctor at the Cape Cod hospital that treated the lobsterman who claims he was nearly swallowed by a humpback expressed skepticism Saturday to The Post about the whale of a tale. “He reportedly ascended from a 45-foot depth in 20 to 40 seconds and didn’t have any evidence of barotrauma?” scoffed the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room doc. A person traumatized by such an encounter should expect more serious injuries,

When Catherine the Great of Russia traveled in the late 18th-century, her former lover, Grigory Potemkin, would travel ahead of her and build hasty facades along the main thoroughfares in impoverished, bedraggled villages to create the impression of a prosperous nation. Thus, a Potemkin village is a fake that artificially puffs up a leader’s competence and popularity. Two recent videos, one of Biden’s fans turning out to greet him in Michigan and another of Trump’s fans turning out for him in Florida, show that Biden is a Potemkin president. It’s all fake.

Missouri Congresswoman Cori Bush sparked controversy on Sunday with a tweet in which she said Independence Day was only a holiday for white people. 'When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people,' she wrote. 'This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.' Bush, who was first elected to the House of Representatives in November, has been widely viewed as the newest member of the so-called 'Squad' of congresswomen known for being outspoken on their left-wing views, and she is no stranger to controversy.

National Geographic posted an unhinged and unscientific tweet on Independence Day saying fireworks are racist because they affect communities of color. What complete BS. This is what can be described as “scientism” and NOT “science.” There is absolutely no proof to support this theory. In fact, in cities like St. Louis and New York City, minorities shoot off guns on New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July. This is much more dangerous than sniffing fireworks smoke for a night.
