Target is pulling Pokémon cards and sports trading cards from their store shelves, according to multiple outlets. “Out of an abundance of caution, we’ve decided to temporarily suspend the sale of MLB, NFL, NBA and Pokémon trading cards within our stores, effective May 14,” the nationwide retail chain said in their announcement. Collectibles have increased in popularity during the coronavirus pandemic as people stuck at home during lockdowns have turned to online auction sites to sell or buy. Rare cards, from the sports world or Pokémon, have been selling for millions, according to MarketWatch.

A woman rescued after being held captive for nearly a decade is once again a crime victim as Gina DeJesus told Cleveland police she was carjacked near the intersection of West 127th Street and Triskett Road early Thursday. According to a police report, DeJesus said a carload of men in a silver sedan pulled in front of her car on Triskett Road around 1:40 a.m. The 31-year-old told police two men got out of the car and one pointed a gun at her face and ordered her out of her car.

Colonial Pipeline Co. paid the group that hacked its pipeline a nearly $5 million ransom in untraceable cryptocurrency within hours of the cyberattack, two people familiar with the payment told Bloomberg on Thursday. The report contradicts Colonial’s public assertion that it did not pay the hacking group Darkside ransom following the cyberattack. A third person familiar with the ransom said the U.S. government is aware Colonial paid Darkside. Colonial declined Bloomberg‘s request for comment. The attack forced Colonial to temporarily shut down much of its services, causing gas shortages and rising prices across the east coast.

New York—New York City will continue to restrict use of plastic straws after the city council passed a new measure restricting their use in restaurants, bars and markets. The legislation, first introduced by Councilmember Rafael Espinal in 2018, bans the provision of single-use plastic stirrers and “splash sticks” of any kind, in addition to the limitation of straws. Beginning Nov. 1, places like restaurants, cafes, bars, grocery stores, delis and food trucks can no longer provide single-use plastic straws unless they actively request one. In that case, establishments will be required to provide a plastic straw free of charge, no questions asked.
