We’re Governed by Morons

Everyone knows someone who is horrible with money; some friend or acquaintance who is always up to their neck in credit card debt no matter how much money they earn. You probably try to avoid seeing this person as much as possible because it’s always the same old story when you do. Sadly, rather than remove these people from our lives, we’ve elected them to Congress and they keep sticking us with the check. This isn’t about Republicans or Democrats, they’re both horrible when it comes to spending. The only differences between the two parties on spending is Republicans pretend to be responsible when they’re not in power,

Who elects these morons? We, the People...and we aren't bashful about re-electing them, either. Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard. - H. L. Mencken

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. And those who can neither do nor teach run for public office. Which is how we end up being governed by morons.

I have lied through a long list of pitiful chief executives. Kennedy, Johnston (Too busy get young Americans killed), Nixon (Price freezes, and daylight savings in winter anyone?), Ford (not even a full set of bookends), Carter (malaise), Bush (the older dumb one), Clinton (too busy getting Lewinskis to actually goobern), Bush (the younger really dumb one), Obambi (at least he filled a quota) and now Biden. What I have observed is the rare competent chief executive are reviled, traduced, de-famed, vilified, slandered and denigrated. It appears the country yearns for the most impotent and moronic leaders possible. and if a party shows signs of actual common sense and good governing, the part splits into the GOR (Good OLD RINOs).

We can only elect from among those running. If everyone running is a corrupt poltroon, thats all we will get and thats all we've ever got in recent history. You cannot force an honest man to run for office, and you cannot stop a crook from doing so.

Have you ever wondered what happens to flat-earthers? Not all spend their days eating pudding with plastic spoons and rewatching old sitcoms -- or as fabulists hanging at the end of the bar, boasting of their heroic exploits until closing time. Some become president of the United States. Or they find power in President Joe Biden's administration and join him in gaslighting the nation about that dismal April jobs report as businesses struggle to emerge from those government pandemic shutdowns. With so many Americans now vaccinated, economists predicted about 1 million more Americans would find work, but only 266,000 jobs were added to the economy.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump went off on RINO Republican Liz Cheney after she got “fired” from her position as House GOP Leadership. Cheney has made it completely clear in recent months that she will not only backstab former President Donald Trump but also the Republican party in an effort to side with Democrats. In response to Cheney’s removal, Trump released a statement. “Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being,” the former president said. “I watched her yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican Party. She has no personality or anything good having to do with politics or our Country.

Six thousand eight hundred American patriots died in action, six thousand one hundred were wounded, and eight thousand to twelve thousand died as prisoners of war to free us from the chains of slavery from a tyrannical government under King George III. They willingly gave their lives as a sacrifice for the Bill of Rights that is set in our Constitution. We must never forget what they have done for us. Leave it to Madison, in the fifth paragraph of Federalist No. 57, to anticipate the current matter of whether Liz Cheney is to remain the third-ranking Republican member in the House of Representatives, as chair of the House GOP conference, or be replaced by Rep. Elise Stefanik. Madison pointed out that membership in the House of Representatives is not to be a matter of wealth, class, or society status. He wrote that the rich no more than the poor will be members, and then, after stating "not the learned more than the ignorant," added: "not the haughty heirs of distinguished names,

We should never forget how we felt in the days after November 3, 2020. Donald Trump’s sizeable Election Night lead mysteriously disappeared while we slept, and then...silence. A surreal quiet followed in the days after the election. There was little of the usual back-and-forth of the talking heads, no real argument about whether there had been fraud — just an eerie quiet that pervaded the political class, Silicon Valley, and corporate America. Nothing to see here! The most secure election in U.S. history! Then in February 2021, Molly Ball wrote in Time magazine what we had surmised: we had been witness to election theft.

One maskless photo at an off-campus party has cost three students at UMass Amherst their entire spring semester. The three female freshmen were attending an off-campus party when they snapped the maskless photo, which was posted on Instagram. It's not clear when the party took place, though one student has a clover on her shirt and many students are wearing green, suggesting it could date back to St. Patrick's Day. A party known as the 'Blarney Blowout' is typically thrown at the school during March. The three students have since been suspended from UMass Amherst, which may only be the beginning of their disciplinary problems at school.

Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Wednesday informed unemployed Floridians during a Wednesday press conference that May will be the last month they can collect unemployment benefits without proving they are looking for work. DeSantis, who had lifted the state’s policy requiring such proof because of the pandemic, said that reopened Florida now offers ample opportunity for employment, and capable residents need to get off the government dole, according to CBS Miami. “Normally when you’re getting unemployment, the whole idea is that it’s temporary, and you need to be looking for work to be able to get off unemployment,” DeSantis said. “It was a disaster, so we suspended those job search requirements.

A third person familiar with the ransom said the U.S. government is aware Colonial paid Darkside. Colonial declined Bloomberg‘s request for comment. Last month, the faculty senate at Pennsylvania State University passed a resolution urging the school to erase certain words from its lexicon, due to the supposedly problematic legacy of the “typically male-centered world” out of which the terms grew. The resolution aims at gendered pronouns such as “he/him/his” and “she/her/hers,” but it also demonizes the four iconic terms for a person’s years in college (and, often, high school): “freshman,” “sophomore,” “junior,” and “senior.” “The University, as with most all academic institutions world-wide, has grown out of a typically male-centered world. As such, many terms in our lexicon carry a strong, male-centric,

Herman Melville’s novel Moby Dick is one the finest books ever written for many reasons, but the main theme is obsession. The captain of the whale ship Pequod is obsessed with hunting down and killing the white whale, the giant mammal that cost the captain his leg. Despite his having lost the last battle with the whale, Ahab is filled with a terrible resolve that is frustrated by his megalomania, his hubris and overconfidence. (snip) Doesn’t that character description sound exactly like Liz Cheney, just-ousted from her House GOP Caucus leadership slot? She is obsessed, overconfident and hubristic to the point of insanity.
