On Wednesday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Making Money,” Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) reacted to President Joe Biden’s criticism of Texas for lifting its mask mandate by stating Biden is “prioritizing whether or not a Texan can make that decision” to wear a mask over border security, “when we have thousands of migrants coming across the border, some are bringing the disease with them.”

The House passed Democrats' massive election reform bill, the "For the People Act" on Wednesday in wake of lingering bitterness over the 2020 election and Jan. 6 Capitol attack. Republicans warned that the legislation amounts to a federal takeover of the election system that will create opportunities for fraud, while Democrats say that the longtime wishlist of reforms would expand voting access and reduce the influence of money in elections.
Democrats previously passed a version of H.R. 1 — the bill number saved to signify a top priority of the majority party — in the last Congress in 2019, but it never got a vote in the Republican-controlled Senate.

KGW reviewed federal court records and found 31 of the 90 protest cases have been dismissed by the U.S. Department of Justice, including a mix of misdemeanor and felony charges.

A top FBI counterterrorism official testified on Wednesday that no firearms were recovered during arrests of rioters who breached the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
“How many firearms were confiscated in the Capitol or on Capitol grounds during that day?” Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson asked Jill Sanborn, the FBI official, during a Senate Homeland Security hearing.

Two teenage boys were shot Monday evening when a man spotted them trying to break into his car outside a southeast Atlanta Waffle House, authorities said. AUSTIN, Texas - Republican Texas State Representative Bryan Slaton has filed a bill in the Texas House of Representatives asking that a portion of I-35 in Austin be renamed the Steve Adler Public Restroom Highway.
The portion Slaton is asking to be renamed is the area between 4th Street and 11th Street where those experiencing homelessness reside.
Slaton, who represents House District 2, says in a news release that "since the legislature has made it clear it intends to rename some highways and bridges this session, I think it's imperative that we start with a highway that truly recognizes the contributions of (Austin) Mayor Adler."
