The conservative comic strip “Mallard Fillmore” has been plucked. Bruce Tinsley, creator of the 27-year-old cartoon, said he was told this week by his syndication company that Gannett newspapers across the country simultaneously dropped the comic over two strips critical of President Biden and transgender participation in women’s sports. “It was a big shock,” Mr. Tinsley told The Washington Times. “From what I’m hearing, it was unprecedented. My syndicate had never seen anything like it.”
He said officials at King Features, which syndicates the cartoon, said that “a decision was made at the [Gannett] corporate level, and they weren’t sure exactly why,

The San Diego Union-Tribune dropped it a long time ago for pointing out Ilhan Omar's anti-Semitism. I dropped the U-T. They made the mistake of calling me to ask why. The poor guy's ears are still ringing, and I'll bet he never had the guts to report on what I called the paper's Editorial Board.
The U-T endorsed the Buttster for President, incidentally. I have a very good idea why.

Some papers moved Doonesbury to the editorial page because of its political tone. It continues on today, but people can do what I do—ignore it. It was OK to roast Trump, but not Obama or Xiden. Basically, corporations are afraid to criticize The Lefties because they’ll face physical retribution, and that’s why Republicans have to start retaliating in kind.

A few years ago Gannett bought The Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Times newspapers and turned them into Leftist rags. Those papers have never recovered.

Many years ago, both of the local papers carried the "Herman" comic. However, it was somewhat politically-incorrect and that's why both papers dropped the comic.

This is getting serious, seriously. There are now no “funny” funnies left!. Why buy a newspaper at all? There is no news, no fact, nothing. Bye Bye Newspapers. Writers will have to find a "real" job.

Check out South Park and the "Strong Woman" competition and Heather Swanson. Ha. It's basically and male MMA fighter who identifies as a woman and wipes the floor with all the ladies.

Why would ANYONE subscribe to or read a newspaper? Do they finish the paper and go shopping for buggy whips?

It became apparent that after Gannett bought the York Daily Record that a precipitous swing to the left occurred to this already left-leaning News outlet. At that point, the only reasons to buy the paper were the crossword and the comics. Long story short... I've found other avenues online for my puzzle fetish.

#8, Pearls before swine and Dilbert are both funny - laugh out loud funny.
Mallard Fillmore is funny, but a bit more subtle.
Doonesbury, which used to be laugh out loud funny, has devolved into a bitter, obsessed screed against anyone not a member of the loony left.

Gannett needs to be added to the Big Tech list. They've eaten up way too many local papers, fired too many local reporters and provided liberal pablum instead. Seriously, folks, find your local paper and support them.

No problem, don't buy their product. Why a conservative would be buying left-wing rags anyway is beyond me

They weren’t sure exactly why? Where have we heard that before? Oh, yes. I remember. A Muslim goes on a shooting spree and takes out 20-30 infidels and the authorities have no idea why he did it. But it can’t possibly be Radical Islamic Terrorism. (You know - those 3 words that 0bama refused to speak for 8 log years.)
