The House passed Democrats' massive election reform bill, the "For the People Act" on Wednesday in wake of lingering bitterness over the 2020 election and Jan. 6 Capitol attack. Republicans warned that the legislation amounts to a federal takeover of the election system that will create opportunities for fraud, while Democrats say that the longtime wishlist of reforms would expand voting access and reduce the influence of money in elections.
Democrats previously passed a version of H.R. 1 — the bill number saved to signify a top priority of the majority party — in the last Congress in 2019, but it never got a vote in the Republican-controlled Senate.

The wimpy Republicans are finished if this Democrat monstrosity becomes the law of the land. May well be unconstitutional as the Constitution gives State legislatures the authority to set the election rules in the individual States. I guess we will find out about that if this Democrat bill passes the Senate.

Totally Unconstitutional. State legislatures are the sole controllers of their state election laws.

Even more frightening than the law itself is we've no reason to think this Supreme Court would rule on it.

Ever get the feeling that democrats have jettisoned the Constitution in favor of their radical agenda? With the final nail hammered securely in the coffin of the Republic by the SCOTUS, democrats are going full bore to institute their Godless anti-American agenda. It’s just another day at the office for these jokers who know the way has been cleared for them to fundamentally transform this country into their socialist nightmare. We no longer can count on the SCOTUS to reign in such anti-Constitutional nonsense that is clearly diametrically opposed to the Constitution. We have no recourse. The final place we could go to air our grievances has been compromised. Decisions are being made without the Constitution as a guide, but with a personal partisan agenda or for fear of possible violence by the left. I am appalled by the cowardice of the newest justices who promised in no uncertain terms to always use the Constitution as their only guide when making decisions. Clearly, they lied destroying the American people’s last hope of recourse when a tyrannical party has gone rogue. Worthless is a gift when speaking about this court. It has destroyed its reason for existence and mortally wounded the Republic through its deceit and cowardice.

The states need to simply ignore or drag them into court for every illegal bill they pass and sign. They want no rule of law, then give it to them. If they don't follow the Constitution, don't follow their rule. Who do WE think they are?

The Constitution has defined who has the authority to make the rules regarding elections. And that authority explicitly had been given to the state legislatures. There is no authority given to the Congress to change that. The states can ignore this bill. And they should do so immediately. The US is a republic. The states have independent authority to control their own elections.

Isn't this a change to our constitution? If so, it's going to take a lot more than a what they are doing to make the change.

I'm pretty sure the far-left understands that when someone chooses not to go to the polls and vote, they are making a choice. They are choosing none of the above. But when the left wants to automatically register everyone to vote, which also will include 16 year olds, then they will have an automatic base of people that they could use to Divine their vote if they don't actually show up at the polls. This is just a way they can legitimize vote fraud.

Call your Senator and ask where he/she stands on this Bill. Also let your feelings be known on the Bill and how YOU will vote if they decide to stand with the Democrats. If they get enough calls they will listen. Senators always go with what is best for THEIR future!

This nation is so divided we can't even all agree on fair elections. The "winners" now fix the system to ensure a one party system, in the nature of China, Newark or Moscow. Obviously it is a violation of the Constitution but our SCOUS is so afraid of the winners stacking, it they are willing to lose our Republic and fundamentally transform us to mob rule.

The Senate is going to change the happy's to glad's and then pass this. This is federal control over all federal elections. It won't matter what your state legislatures do. YES, it's unconstitutional but try to get the Supremes to vote against it, and remember, even if they do, it won't reverse an election. HR1, millions of new illegal voters, and Dominion control the election process . This IS Venezuela, only worse. It's the United States of Dominion.

If biden the cheater does somehow stay coherent enough to deliver a SOTU address soon, I hope the SCOTUS jokesters and Roberts are put on full display for what they did to the country,

So, if it becomes legal to stuff ballot boxers with fake ballots, I'd have a box trucks full of ballots, ready at every satellite voting box, do dump fake ballots in/on them. I'd hire every hacker I could to break into every v-machine they could and change every vote cast, away for Democrats. I'd make is so obvious that our elections are being rigged, that the courts couldn't accept the counts no matter how bad they want to.
Democrats what to play this game, then let's play it!

Too many people in government have no faith. They don't believe in the Constitution. They don't believe in the Bill of Rights ( I re-read the Bill of Rights on line and it seems to me that some people who attended the January 6th rally shouldn't be charged with anything), and they don't believe in God. So, they don't believe our rights come from God. And that's why they don't believe we have any rights.

I am disgusted by what Biden and his HO are doing to America.
They want to give black reparations.
They want to give money to lazy, illiterate bums.
My mother was a poor, blind widow and we lived in a hovel on Fargo Street.
We almost starved to death.
She deserved black reparations.
She got nothing.
Do you agree?

#27, as recently as 2019 I would have agreed with you. Then came 2020, and COVID shutdowns of the entire economy and forced dehumanizing masking, and public education of children ground to a halt, and widespread unchecked rioting, and patent election fraud, and victory in Georgia of two insanely radical leftist Senate candidates, all things anyone would confidently predicted would never happen, and, well, they did. And the population quietly accepted all of them. Now, with the Democrats seizing on January 6th's provoked riot as a pretext to literally treat Republicans as literal enemies of the state, and the Supreme Court inexplicably refusing to take any election fraud cases at all, all bets are off the table. It's open season on you, and whether your vote will ever matter again is an open question. Worst of all, the COVID experience strongly suggests the big-talkers who threaten an armed response should government actors try to abrogate their Second Amendment rights would in reality meekly surrender their guns and ammo should a government clerk knock at their door with a piece of paper saying "hand them over."

Contrast how differently the Congress is behaving now in contrast to how it behaved in 2017 when Republicans were in total control. The Democrats are fulfilling their promises to their base while Ryan and McConnell did nothing for their base and thwarted President Trump who did his best to fulfill his promises. McConnell is not only useless he actually undermines the conservative base. McCarthy isn’t malign but I don’t think he has what it takes. Both should be replaced.

New rules: Sue them in every court! Find sympathetic judges, preferably Federal Judges and have them rule nationally! Use everything that the demonrats did to President Trump to stop him, use the Courts against the Obama/Biden regime. Look up Rules for Radicals and reverse engineering, what is good for the goose is good for the .....gander. Play Dan Bongino's new rules for further instructions.

The socialists are working at lightning speed to get this passed before We The People catch up to them.
The Constitution's Article Two says ONLY the State Legislatures can write election law for their states NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT/
They are going after the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 10th amendments, and unless we massively tell them NO that our rights belong to us and not them, we will be finished as a nation.
A lie not matter how much it is repeated is STILL a LIE

Gheez. What would happen if this law passed in the Senate? If it was taken to the SCOTUS, it would seem that they would have to uphold this new legislation. They aren't in a position to say that the power lies in state legislatures, as outlined in the Constitution because that is the position of Trump's legal team. And the SCOTUS recently turned away Trump's cases with no comment.
This seems diabolical.
