It sounds like some states are well on their way to getting back to normal. Both Texas and Mississippi today announced today they would be discontinuing all mask mandates and allowing businesses and schools to open back up. This isn’t just out of the air or haphazardly but based on dropping numbers of cases. From ABC7: Like the rest of the country, Texas has seen the number of cases and deaths plunge. Hospitalizations are at the lowest levels since October, and the seven-day rolling average of positive tests has dropped to about 7,600 cases, down from more than 10,000 in mid-February.

Sure, it’s not perfect: the restaurants are open again, but we do have to wear masks for a few seconds while walking to our table. Also during the few moments while we walk indoors to our offices, and in grocery stores, etc. Given that I think the science is clear, and masks do no, or virtually no, good, I eagerly await the day when we can burn them all. In 2012, Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before at Northwestern University Law School to announce President Obama’s “kill list” policy, under which he reserved the right to unilaterally order the death of any American deemed an imminent threat. After all, Holder explained, “the Constitution guarantees due process, not judicial process.” The response was as chilling as the message: The audience of judges, lawyers and law students applauded an attorney general who just told them that any of them could be killed tomorrow on the president’s order. Some of us denounced the "kill list" policy, which foreshadowed what has become a campaign against due process.
