Publix gets 1 out of 4 Florida coronavirus vaccines, which officials don’t track

State officials have shipped 70,000 COVID vaccine doses a week to Publix’s central distribution hub in Lakeland in Central Florida, without knowing exactly where the shots will go, a Miami Herald analysis of state vaccine distribution data from the past five weeks and interviews with state officials found. The grocery chain — a major financial supporter of Gov. Ron DeSantis — is the state’s single-largest vaccine supplier and receives nearly a quarter of Florida’s available doses without providing state officials a store-specific distribution plan ahead of time, according to Jared Moskowitz, the director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the agency leading the vaccination campaign.

Comments:

The Tampa Bay Times is a liberal fish wrap but this article epitomizes the liberal dream of people waiting in line for services at a stadium or mall, rather than the private sector (like Publix) doing a phenomenal job and public service. This paper has ticked me off before but this article is horrible. It also intimates that blacks and hispanics are just victims and can not use the internet to make an appointment.

Like most other stories, the underlying premise is flawed. the phrase "without providing state officials a store-specific distribution plan ahead of time" implies that somehow it would be better if the state was involved. Yet everything government touches is less efficient, takes longer, costs more and slows down the process. Do they think Publix is selling them on the black market? Hoarding them? Throwing them away? What exactly is the problem that "state officials" need to address and how would they make it better?

We shop quite a bit at Publix. Good selection, incredibly pleasant and helpful staff and a lot of their pharmacy prices are lower than cVS or Walgreens.

Outrageous! What does Publix know about the mass distribution of products to consumers? Follow the science - - let the DNC and BLM do the distributing!

Hubby and I Both got our Shots at a Publix. It was great. There were only five other people there at the same time time, we got our shots from the Pharmacist, waited the required 15 minutes and were on our way. No waiting in lines for 5 hours as our friends did when they got their shots from the County HEALTH Department. So, I'm not sure what this writer is moaning about, but I think Publix has done a great job (along with doing their regular day job filling prescriptions. The pharmacist told us they only do 52 shots per day! What's the big deal! Some people go around looking for something to whine about. These Tampa Bay Writers are a perfect example of that!

Publix is highly efficient as a pharmacy. This is nonsense.

Florida’s agriculture commissioner is challenging Gov. Ron DeSantis’ plans to honor conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. President Trump is down in the polls. The Republican National Convention is mostly canceled. And now, some Republicans are contemplating the unthinkable: Would they be better off losing in November and rebuilding for 2024? “The thought is starting to cross people’s minds,” said a Republican strategist who requested anonymity to speak candidly. “One way or the other, there will be life after Trump.”

An open letter to a protester. We might sit down over coffee, and I would start by telling you that I have done a lot of good things in my short 5-year career. I was the first officer on the scene for a call at a college campus where a delusional person was wandering the halls of a dormitory with a gun. In that incident, we found the person responsible just as he was about to commit a sexual assault.

As we reported two days ago, Joe Biden completely made no sense when he was trying to explain the Wuhan coronavirus relief bill. It was really bad and it explains why they’re afraid to have him deliver an address to Congress or do any kind of a real solo press conference, because at this point they have to be afraid this is all going to fall apart if he does anything live and this all becomes too obvious to the American people. But there’s only so long that they can hold this off. And it’s getting worse, as video today revealed. Biden was holding an event to announce the nomination

Democrat Senator Joe Manchin (WV) appears to have started to shift his views on the filibuster with remarks that he made on two news shows on Sunday morning. The shift from Manchin comes after he has repeatedly stated that he would not vote to end the filibuster, despite pressure from the far-Left. During the interviews on Sunday, Manchin repeatedly claimed that he was not open to ending the filibuster because he did not want to strip the minority party of their power in the Senate, but signaled that he was open to changing it.Fox News host Chris Wallace asked Manchin if he would consider “reforming the filibuster” if “Republicans

If you had any doubts that Meghan Markle is a manipulative piece of work, her bombshell Oprah interview Sunday night dumping on the British monarchy would set you straight. Prince Harry’s American wife accused his family of hateful racism against her baby, claimed they refused to protect her and drove her to the point of suicide. She made the incendiary and implausible charge that when she was pregnant with Archie, the royal family decreed that her unborn son would be denied the title of “prince” because her mixed race meant he might have dark skin.

Nancy Pelosi’s top priority is to turn America into a one-party nation ruled by Democrats. Her bill HR 1 trashes the U.S. Constitution in an attempt to rig the system and make it virtually impossible to elect a Republican president or Congress again. It’s a power grab. The bill eviscerates state voting laws and forces all the states to conform to a set of rules that includes automatic voter registration. Anyone who goes to a DMV or applies for food stamps, Medicaid or other social services, or attends a public college will be automatically enrolled to vote. Noncitizens are obligated to identify themselves and opt out,

I’m probably second to none in my dislike for Meghan Markle. There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred. And the problem is that, when it comes to that left-wing diva, Meghan Markle, it’s hard to believe most of what she says. After weeks of hype, CBS finally televised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah.
