As Texas shattered a single-day record with 12,000 new coronavirus cases reported, Republican Governor Greg Abbott on Friday ruled out another lockdown and accused local leaders of not enforcing existing restrictions.
His rejection of a lockdown comes as other governors across the US take aggressive new steps to curb record-shattering spikes in Covid-19 cases that are pushing hospitals to the limit.
Texas is on the verge of surpassing 8000 hospitalised Covid-19 patients for the first time since a deadly summer outbreak, which back then Abbott met with orders that closed bars and limited restaurant occupancy.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Law enforcement agencies released statements Thursday in response to California's new COVID-19 public health orders and enforcement of the order.
Officials made the announcements the same day California health officials ordered a "limited" curfew, which will be in place from Saturday to Dec. 21. The new stay-at-home order stops non-essential travel from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in counties in the purple COVID-19 tier. Here's what the different agencies said about enforcing the curfew:

On Tuesday, we covered the news of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s edict stating that no more than ten people could gather in private residences for Thanksgiving and the response he received from numerous law enforcement agencies around the state. To put it kindly, none of the police departments or sheriffs were enthusiastic about taking on the job. To put it more bluntly, a lot of them flatly refused, pointing out the impossible scope of even attempting such a task. The Governor was asked about that response in a press conference yesterday and it’s obvious that his famously short temper had gotten the better of him again. (NY Post)

Then Abraham Lincoln spoke for two minutes. This was a time of great turmoil.
Today our country is also in great distress.

If anyone was hoping the third time would be the charm for consistently constructive or tough questions at a post-election Joe Biden press conference, Thursday illustrated that such a hope was a fool’s errand. Over the course of the 15-minute availability, the Biden team had the former vice president receive questions from only four reporters with three of them offering softballs.ABC senior congressional correspondent Mary Bruce continued her accumulation of quite a highlight reel if she ever wanted to join the Biden administration, wondering to Biden in the first of two questions: “How many lives do you think are at risk here if this transition remains stalled?”

Joe Biden said in a Thursday address that he had discussed implementing a national mask mandate with a number of state governors.
Biden and vice-president elect Kamala Harris spoke with members of the National Governors’ Association on Thursday, including Democrat Andrew Cuomo of New York and Republican Kay Ivey of Alabama.
“We discussed the implementation of a national mask mandate,” Biden said. “Ten governors, Democrat and Republican, have imposed masking requirements and recognized the need for universal masking….It’s not a political statement. It’s a patriotic duty.”

Joe Biden has won the presidential election in the state of Georgia, a state recount confirmed on Thursday.
Initial results last week showed that Biden won the state by about 15,000 votes, a margin small enough that state elections officials immediately commenced a by-hand recount. While over 2,000 uncounted ballots for the President Trump were indeed discovered during the recount, the final tally shows that Biden beat Trump by 12,284 votes, according to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. “The audit has aligned very close to what we had in election night reporting,”

Major concerns were mounting today over whether Britain will be ready for Boris Johnson's 'ambitious' plans to ban gas boilers in all new-build homes by 2023, after the target was brought forward by two years. The proposal was branded 'impossible' because just two hydrogen boiler prototypes exist, a fifth of the pipe network still needs to be relaid and every engineer will be retrained. The ban on methane gas boilers means new homes must have low-carbon alternatives, such as electric heat pumps or hydrogen boilers—but it has surprised many homebuilders who had been working towards a deadline of 2025.

Senate Republicans are moving to push through more of President Trump’s conservative nominees during a lame-duck session and in his final days at the White House — extending Trump’s legacy on the government for years, particularly in the judiciary, sources told Politico.Much to the dismay of Democrats, the Senate confirmations overseen by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) could frustrate the agenda of President-elect Joe Biden. While Trump has yet to concede the election to Biden, the Senate GOP is moving to confirm Trump appointees to the Federal Elections Commission, the Federal Reserve Board and the federal judiciary.

During a press conference Thursday, Jenna Ellis, the senior legal adviser to President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign, castigated the mainstream media over their partisan refusal to report truthfully on the campaign’s findings as it pertains to voter fraud allegations. The fact is that the campaign has already uncovered some evidence of fraud in its investigations of the 2020 election results and is slowly uncovering more as the investigation proceeds. The problem is that, one, the media refuse to give the campaign time to complete its investigation, and two, they keep improperly framing the situation as a matter of the campaign not finding enough evidence to substantiate “claims widespread voter fraud.”

Deep beneath the streets of London, in a complex of bomb shelters left abandoned since World War II, something is growing. Donald J. Trump was fond of saying the 2020 presidential election was the most important election of our lifetimes. Presumably he meant that it would determine the direction of the country for a generation. That remains to be seen, but perhaps he was wrong.
Although about 70 percent of Republicans believe that Joe Biden didn’t win fair and square, those issues are wending their way through the courts so let’s leave them for another day. Assume for the moment that Biden really did win. What does that mean for our country? Maybe not that much. It turns out that the election wasn’t about policies but personalities.

In 1980, Democratic President Jimmy Carter lost in a landslide to Ronald Reagan, 489-49 in the Electoral College. So naturally, Democrats concluded that Reagan had committed treason in order to steal the election, to wit: His campaign had conspired with Iranian ayatollahs to prevent 52 American hostages from being released until after the election.
And who can blame them? Carter’s economic policies had produced a 21% interest rate, a 17% mortgage rate and a 15% inflation rate in the coveted “hat trick” of presidential incompetence. His brilliant strategic ploy of abandoning the Shah of Iran had led to a 154% spike in oil prices and Islamic lunatics seizing our embassy and

We all should probably acknowledge that we Americans, in many ways, have become an unserious people. No serious civilization and society would allow a fraction of what is taking place here—from the absurdity of our education system to the dominance of big tech monopolies to our current form of elections. A list of our nation’s follies demonstrating our unseriousness would fill pages. But it’s not just about the American people as a whole: conservatism is an unserious movement (if one can even call what exists a movement), and Republicans are deeply, deeply unserious as a political party.

Sarah Palin.“Through Palin, it seemed as if the dark spirits that had long been lurking on the edges of the modern Republican Party — xenophobia, anti intellectualism, paranoid conspiracy theories, an antipathy toward Black and brown folks — were finding their way to center stage,” Obama writes in “A Promised Land,” which hit bookshelves on Tuesday.Palin fired back in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity earlier this week.

A Philadelphia attorney who was representing President Trump’s campaign has been reportedly placed under official protection after threats were made against her.Noting court papers filed on Wednesday, The New York Post reported, “Philadelphia lawyer Linda Kerns ‘has been the subject of threats of harm, to the point at which the involvement of police and U.S. Marshals has been necessary to provide for her safety,’ the filing says.” The Post added, “The stunning revelation came two days after Kerns, a solo practitioner, sought sanctions against a lawyer from the firm representing Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar for leaving her an ‘abusive voicemail on Saturday night.’”

The Wisconsin Elections Commission on Wednesday night issued an order to recount ballots in two counties following a request by President Donald Trump’s campaign.
Commissioners in a video teleconference on Wednesday argued for nearly six hours before ultimately agreeing to conduct the recount.
“An order will be issued mandating that the recount take place. This is not a discretionary decision. This is simply what will happen,” Chairwoman Ann Jacobs, a Democrat, said at the beginning of the hearing.
But members of the commission, which has three Republicans and three Democrats, debated for hours over how the recount would be conducted. Some said state law governing a recount contained ambiguities.

It may just have been the fact that they were beamed in virtually to the hearing room, but our billionaire Big Tech overlords looked more cyborg than human when they testified before a Senate committee Tuesday.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, 43, in funereal black, with a castaway beard and nose ring, stood stiffly in front of an austere shelf of white bowls and empty bottles and talked about “humans” versus “algorithms.”
Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg, 36, was freckly and clean-shaven, but came across as equally robotic. He wore a white shirt, blue jacket and striped tie against a bland backdrop of silk drapes and a potted plant.
Both spoke in a slow monotone.

Let’s be clear about something. The coronavirus crisis is no longer an emergency situation. It might have been in March or April, but it absolutely is not as we enter the third week of November.
It’s a tragedy, it’s a problem, it’s a crisis, but it is not an emergency, and we have to stop treating it like one at the expense of our children. Thursday, all in-person public schooling in New York City will close again. There is no excuse for this given all we know now, and it is abusive towards our kids.Scientific consensus is a term that gets tossed around far too often,

Last Sunday, in my article "'Lost votes are fraud votes," I looked at the "lost votes" for the 2020 presidential election listed in Internet blogger "Pede's" analysis, and I described how, after adjusting for the thrown-away votes, Trump won Pennsylvania and will win (after the recount) Georgia, while Biden likely won Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, and possibly Arizona. But there's still something missing. "Pede's" data search exposed votes switched from Trump to Biden, and "votes lost" (mostly Trump votes thrown away); but there is a third category that escapes this type of data scanning: "votes added."

I am enjoying the squirming of Nancy Pelosi’s nephew, California Governor Gavin Newsom, now that he has been exposed as completely disregarding the COVID guidelines he is trying to force 40 million Californians to follow. (snip) The party was NOT outside as he claimed. Too bad for Gavin that the pictures that Fox 11 Los Angeles published came after he smikingly lied his butt off (snip) I am old enough to vividly remember Joe Isuzu, the attention-grabbing comic liar whose commercials for Isuzu grabbed a lot of notice a few decades ago, though they sold few vehicles. Like millions of Americans, I have in recent days grown sick of Facebook. Like hundreds of thousands, I've abandoned it for Parler.
When I said goodbye to my friends on Facebook, they were all kind. Many said they'd miss me, and others offered advice. One told me she had glanced into Parler and had found it horrifying. But, she said, she was sure I had done my due diligence before signing on.
Indeed I had. Parler allows you to choose whose words you read and whose memes you chuckle at. I'm not a fan of outlandish conspiracy theories so I don't keep up with the Joneses -- Alex or Mother.

In a Senate hearing, Senator Kamala Harris demonstrated a twofold ploy of dishonesty while attempting to trap Judge (now Justice) Amy Coney Barrett in a trick question. (snip) Barrett used the term "judicial notice." This is the clue. She was asked (preposterously) whether she believes that COVID-19 (the China virus) is contagious. Barrett answered yes, that is something so obvious and uncontroversial, that one takes "judicial notice" of it. Consider what that means. Sidney Powell, attorney extraordinaire, appeared on Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Reports on Tuesday to explain what happened on election day and tell why she believes that Trump almost certainly got more votes than any president in American history. Because Greg Kelly asks the intelligent, clarifying questions that we wish all journalists would ask, her appearance on his show is one of the best explanations of what happened with the Dominion Voting Software.
According to Powell, “Dominion has a long history of rigging elections. That’s what it was created to do to begin with.”

One more reason just surfaced marking the importance of keeping the U.S. Senate in Republican hands – Joe Biden’s plans to tax American gun owners.Well, the owners of certain guns, like AR-15 rifles.According to a new report by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun-rights group, there are some 20 million rifles and 150 ammunition magazines of the dreaded ‘assault weapons’ style in circulation today. Biden’s gun control plan includes:- Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. Federal law prevents hunters from hunting migratory game birds with more than three shells in their shotgun. That means our federal law does more to protect ducks than children.

Today, it’s a giant welfare economy run by far-left kleptocrats and union shills who can’t even keep the lights on. As hundreds of thousands of Californians flee the once-Golden State, the rest of America should ask itself: Will they bring their politics with them?
Put another way, will California’s broken model be adopted by much of the rest of the country, turning reliably red states blue and seeding the nation with high taxes, more rules, corrupt politicians, and slow

Two Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers in Michigan rescinded their votes to certify the election results, saying Wednesday they were bullied into changing their original votes, and state authorities had refused to conduct an audit.
As Breitbart News reported Tuesday, the board originally deadlocked 2-2 along partisan lines and failed to certify the results because of discrepancies between ballots and voter rolls. But after public abuse and threats, and with the video stream down, the two Republicans agreed to change their votes, saying that they’re promised state authorities would audit the results.

The liberal media meltdown about last week’s speech by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is silly and hypocritical. The speech was not only acceptable but insightful and appropriate.
Alito was the featured speaker at the annual national meeting (by video because of the coronavirus) of the Federalist Society, a group of mostly conservative lawyers that sponsors debates and seminars throughout the country. His remarks were quite pointed, perhaps even provocative, but they were well within ethical bounds. The media and leftist politicians, though, reacted as if Alito had thrown a verbal Molotov cocktail into the edifice of judicial propriety. But the media’s vapors are nothing more than gaseous piffle.

Former President Barack Obama has written not one but two memoirs about himself, the second out this week, which I’m calling “Everyone Who Disagrees with Me is Racist, Part II.”
His first memoir, “Dreams From My Father,” was a showy substitute for record and experience at the start of his first presidential term; his second memoir is meant as a defense of his two presidential terms, which were repudiated by the election of Donald Trump and the flow of minority voters away from the Democratic Party. Republicans built a big tent these last four years, while Democrats became older and whiter, and Democrats recognize this as a threat to their influence.

The Federal Aviation Administration cleared Boeing’s 737 Max for flight Wednesday, nearly two years after a pair of deadly crashes, marking a first step for the struggling aerospace giant toward recovering its reputation and profitability.
The air safety agency said it completed a “comprehensive and methodical” 20-month review before rescinding the longest grounding of a jetliner in U.S. history. The FAA said it made the decision in cooperation with regulators around the world, most of whom also plan to clear the Max for flight soon.

Joe Biden’s plan to tax gun owners for the right to keep and bear arms could reach as high as $34 billion, according to an analysis by the Washington Free Beacon.
On the campaign trail, Biden made several promises relating to guns that he is going to have a hard time getting through Congress. Assigning liability for gun deaths to manufacturers is only the tip of the iceberg. Biden’s far-reaching program would drive online gun retailers out of business, which would include retailers selling gun supplies. It would force owners of AR-15s and other similar weapons to either sell them or register them

I’ve been trying to catch up on reading I skipped in my favorite college courses and revisiting favorite films from years past. I thought just for the fun of it I would serve up my list of 10 favorite films as they occur to me today. When I ran it by a close friend this past Saturday, his only comment was: “How old are you?” Good question! I serve it up in the hope that it might give readers a lead or two.
1. Cool Hand Luke: Paul Newman is the existential hero of this incredibly audacious, funny, and moving film that is also full of great lines.

Of all the quotable lines in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, few resonate as much as this one: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” That was, of course, the proclamation of the pigs who controlled the government, lest any of the lesser species harbor grandiose notions about their place in the barnyard’s pecking order. That quotation has been referred to often in recent days after Gov. Gavin Newsom — fresh off of issuing a new set of edicts admonishing Californians to dine alone at home and curtail their Thanksgiving celebrations — was caught dining with his wife and 10 other friends at a birthday party

“We’ll always have Paris,” runs the classic line from “Casablanca,” and it might as well serve as one of the Biden-Harris administration’s central mantras. Joe Biden promises to aggressively combat climate change, starting by rejoining the Paris Agreement, which Team Trump ditched to the horror of the global cognoscenti.
That’s not a good thing.
In 2015, the Obama administration entered the Paris Agreement. Unlike treaties, which must be ratified by the US Senate, the Paris Agreement is “voluntary”: Each signatory nation vows to reduce its greenhouse-gas emissions sometime in the future.

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer took legal action Friday to shut down a pipeline that carries oil beneath a channel that links two of the Great Lakes.
Whitmer’s office notified the Canadian company that it was revoking an easement granted in 1953 to extend a roughly 4-mile (6.4-kilometer) section of the pipeline through the Straits of Mackinac. The revocation will take effect within 180 days, at which point the flow of oil must stop. The Democratic governor’s legal counsel said in a letter to Enbridge that the revocation resulted from “a violation of the public trust doctrine” and “a longstanding, persistent pattern of noncompliance

A number of classic novels that have long been a staple of school curriculum have been axed from California’s Burbank County because of concerns about racism.
“Until further notice, teachers in the area will not be able to include on their curriculum Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, Theodore Taylor’s The Cay and Mildred D. Taylor’s Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry,” Newsweek confirmed late last week.
Four parents, three of them reportedly black, complained that the novels posed “potential harm” to the Burbank Unified School District’s 400 black students.

The star of “Star Wars: The Mandalorian” took to Twitter over the weekend to share apparent concerns about Democratic leaders opposing efforts to ensure transparency in the electoral process.
This was not the first time Carano has commented on the 2020 election, which has been marred by claims of fraud from President Trump’s campaign. The reaction from the media — which is little more than an extension of the Democratic Party these days — has been to shut down any such talk

In an extraordinary turnabout that foreshadows possible legal action, the two GOP members of Wayne County's election board signed affidavits Wednesday night alleging they were bullied and misled into approving election results in Michigan's largest metropolis and do not believe the votes should be certified until serious irregularities in Detroit votes are resolved.
