Of all the quotable lines in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, few resonate as much as this one: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” That was, of course, the proclamation of the pigs who controlled the government, lest any of the lesser species harbor grandiose notions about their place in the barnyard’s pecking order. That quotation has been referred to often in recent days after Gov. Gavin Newsom — fresh off of issuing a new set of edicts admonishing Californians to dine alone at home and curtail their Thanksgiving celebrations — was caught dining with his wife and 10 other friends at a birthday party

The pigs in Orwell’s “Animal Farm” are the “more equal” animals. Gavin certainly identifies with them. He’s sorry only because he got caught in his hypocrisy. Nancy is so proud of her nephew. They share the same contempt for their lowers.

FTA - "And so I want to apologize to you…. We’re all human, we all fall short sometimes.”
Unbelievable. This is the Governor of California saying this? He now believes that he fell short by partying it up in Hawaii after shutting down his state?

I guess the legislators heading for Maui have never heard of video conferencing or Zoom. But we’re expected to conduct our own business meetings and doctor visits that way.
There is only one non-violent solution - massive disobedience.

While we're on the subject of hypocrisy, let's not forget the Obama's new ocean-side digs on Martha's Vineyard. If the oceans are going to rise 10 feet in the next decade, shouldn't they be buying in the Berkshires instead?

I've stopped watching Fox News and Fox Business for obvious reasons but especially because all the shows do is air stories over and over on some Democratic elite violating their own rules and then commentators yakking on about how it's a double standard, blah blah and NOTHING happens to these Dems. Because even the so-called conservatives at Fox are elites, have the financial resources to fight back - unlike us regular folk.

Well, the MSM buys it and supports Newsom. The majority of Taxifornia voters buy the apology and support Newsom and will continue to support Marxists. It IS a Marxist state and if the state government wants your property and your labor, they will take it with the support of the majority. If you're still allowed to remain on the property of which you have title, so far so good, right? That's what they thought in Cuba, the Soviet Union and China as well but THAT was different, right?

Well said, Mr. Greenhut. Your words and thoughts tie in beautifully with Tammy Bruce - this morning - when she used the term, 'on bended knee'. That's exactly what and where the Democrats want the rest of us to be. And perhaps we'll be so fortunate and blessed if we are 'allowed to touch the hems of their garments' while doing so. God help us if they ever do truly get the upper hand in America. They're moving heaven and earth to get it.

To reply 1: George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” was about what had happened in the Soviet Union. But, he wrote a more important book for our time. His “1984” was a warning about what could happen if totalitarian tyrants took control. The modern day totalitarians (Progressives) seem to be using it as manual for implementing their tyranny. Politically correct speech (newspeak), unending wars (War is Peace), culture cancel (Ignorance is Strength), and hate speech (criminalizing speech) are all in there.
What amazes me is how fast this takeover of our country is taking place.

Sheez. Thanks a lot Captain Obvious. Why isn't Hillary in jail? Obama? Comey? McCabe? Clapper? Mueller was able to get Trump supporters convicted and in solitary confinement in about a year (e.g. Manafort) or have them raided and arrested, with CNN cameras rolling, at 5 a.m. in the morning (e.g. Stone).

Covid is a world-wide psychological experiment to see how much suffering the peasants will endure before they do something about it. By my count, they're taking a lot: remember 2 weeks to 'flatten the curve'? That went so well, it may be 2 years.

The Los Angeles Times today accurately (!) reported that Fox News photos proved the event was in an enclosed room with a sliding glass door on one side that was eventually closed. The photos show Newsome and other guests at a crowded table, all without masks. It also shows him standing close to guests, none including the governor wearing masks. So even his "apology" was disingenuous.
But this moment was far more revealing than just his hypocrisy. He clearly has no real belief in the efficacy of masks and social distancing, an opinion obviously shared by the CEO of the California Medical Association, who arranged the dinner, and its chief lobbyist, who was the guest of honor. Newsom's true opinion of masks is obviously shared by Nancy Pelosi, who was shamed into quickly canceling her big indoor banquet yesterday for her caucus when a photo was leaked showing the tables setup with seating that did not permit social distancing. Yesterday, too, a video leaked of a mask-less Diane Feinstein talking to others in a capitol hallway. They know the truth about masks, as revealed by several epidemiologists. The best masks available to the public will not prevent the entry or exit of anything smaller than eight microns. The virus is two microns. A large study just completed in Norway demonstrated that there was statistically no difference in later testing positive between the group that wore masks and the group that did not. Masks, as one epidemiologist has written, are as effective as a chain link fence in keeping out mosquitos.
