Fort Hood officials spoke out publicly for the first time about the disappearance of Spc. Vanessa Guillen who has been missing since April 22.
Fort Hood Senior Commander, Maj. Gen. Scott Efflandt, III Corps deputy commanding general, Fort Hood's U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID), and representatives from law enforcement agencies who are assisting with the investigation also spoke at the press conference. Guillen was promoted to specialist from private first class effective July 1 due to time in service, Fort Hood officials say.
Officials say currently there are two investigations going on: one into Guillen's disappearance and the other into whether Guillen was sexually harassed.

We don’t expect college to educate kids on America’s history, in fact, we assume the opposite will happen. Turns out that high school isn’t much better either.
A recent man on the street interview by Campus Reform saw many college-aged kids asked about what they think of America, its history, and what the 4th of July means. Nearly all of them showed an astounding level of ignorance, and not even just ignorance, but disinformation.
Most didn’t know the 4th of July celebrates the day we declared independence, and all but one couldn’t even come close to guessing the year.

A 911 call has been released documenting a mother's frightening experience of having a stranger jump on her car during a Black Lives Matter protest in Virginia last month, and her futile attempts to get police to help her. On June 13, Tara Durant was driving with her 12-year-old daughter in the backseat in downtown Fredericksburg when she found herself trapped by a group of George Floyd protesters who were blocking Caroline and Hanover streets. Unable to drive through the intersection because of the crowds, Durant called 911 at 7.34pm seeking assistance, only to be told that police 'can't do anything about it'

When the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden isn’t gaffing up a storm, he’s pushing all kinds of horse hockey about the President that not enough media are calling out.
Take his recent ad featuring a small business owner who says that the Trump administration did nothing to help her during the pandemic. [Video]
If anyone remembers, and hopefully many do, it was the President and the Republicans who were the champions for small businesses, helping to push for things like the Paycheck Protection Program to help them. Indeed, it was the Democrats who went out of their way to stall that help, delaying refunding the program twice

Cleveland—For years protesters have been calling for the Cleveland Indians to change their team name, and now it may finally be happening. The team announced in a statement on Friday that it’s open to the possibility. “We have had ongoing discussions organizationally on these issues. The recent social unrest in our community and our country has only underscored the need for us to keep improving as an organization on issues of social justice,” the team said. “With that in mind, we are committed to engaging our community and appropriate stakeholders to determine the best path forward with regard to our team name.”

America is in crisis. Her destiny is on the line, and she will survive only if we still love her.
A battle rages in the streets, in academia, in the culture, and in the hearts and minds of the American people over whether America was and remains a good and great nation.
I have always believed that America is the greatest and most benevolent nation in history, that its Constitution is, in the words of former British Prime Minister William Gladstone, "The most wonderful work ever struck off at a given time by the brain and purpose of man."
That's primarily because the Constitution was crafted to maximize man's liberty --

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s recent decision to duck a fourth presidential debate tells you everything you need to know about the presumptive Democrat nominee’s rapidly depleting stamina: the man is already too tired to run a full campaign against President Trump.
When the Trump Campaign offered Biden a chance to participate in a fourth debate this fall — to take place a few weeks ahead of the others in order to give both candidates a chance to reach early voters before they cast their ballots in this historic election — the former vice president and his team decided to stick with their bunker strategy of minimizing all public exposure.

Politico reports that conservative circles have been seriously mulling over the idea that Carlson, 51, could parlay his successful television career into a political victory - much like President Trump. Several conservative strategists, commentators and others reportedly believe Carlson, whose outspoken brand of journalism has amassed a massive media following, would be an obvious frontrunner in the Republican primary.

The Minneapolis riots are over, but the devastation is immense. Our own Julio Rosas was there when the chaos erupted, covering, among other things, the looting and the torching of the city’s third police precinct headquarters. The rioting was over the officer-involved death of George Floyd. The officers involved have been fired, the one who kept his knee on the back of Floyd’s neck as he laid prone to the ground handcuffed, Derek Chauvin, was charged with second-degree murder. The three other officers involved were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

The city of Detroit has removed thousands of deceased and duplicate registrants from its voter rolls after being hit with a lawsuit.
City officials cleaned up the voter rolls after the Public Interest Legal Foundation, a government watchdog, filed suit against them in December. Nearly 2,500 deceased individuals and 4,800 duplicate registrations were removed from the voter rolls. The officials have also moved to review another 16,465 registrants who lacked actual dates of registration.
"This is another win for election integrity," said J. Christian Adams, the watchdog's president and general counsel. "This case wasn't complicated. The City of Detroit could have started to fix these problems before litigation, but didn't.

Question for America: In a country where a white cop feels empowered to press his knee into a Black man’s neck for nearly eight minutes while he is handcuffed and pleading, “I can’t breathe,” why should I celebrate the Fourth of July? When I’ve spent the last six months watching a disease that doesn’t discriminate on its own, kill and infect Black people in America at an alarmingly disproportionate rate, why should I celebrate the Fourth of July? And when history tells me in weathered documents, like the Declaration of Independence we commemorate this weekend, that the nation’s founding fathers were a collection of noble hypocrites

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has issued new restrictions limiting the reopening of the economy in nearly 20 counties across the Golden State. One of the more controversial measures introduced Thursday will ban singing and chanting at houses of worships, which are already restricted to allowing 25% of guests or just 100 worshippers (whichever is lower). The Sacramento Bee reported that in late May, Newsom simply encouraged houses of worship to “strongly consider discontinuing singing, group recitation, and other practices and performances.”
The outlet also reported that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that singing and shouting “can spread the coronavirus just as easily as coughing or sneezing."

After spending several hours behind bars Wednesday, Rashyla Levitt returned Thursday to the streets, protesting and confronting authorities just a day after Seattle Police Department officers swept through the area that had been known as the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest.
“We are back with the fire and we are ready to go,” she said.
Levitt was one 44 people arrested early Wednesday morning in Capitol Hill as police moved in during a predawn operation that pushed a handful of demonstrators from the area. Police charged Levitt with failure to disperse, but since it was only a misdemeanor, the judge released her.
The hasty release raised questions about if the protesters would quickly reassemble.

Contrary to claims from both Chinese officials and the World Health Organization, China did not report the existence of the coronavirus in late 2019, according to a WHO timeline tracking the spread of the virus. Rather, international health officials discovered the virus through information posted to a U.S. website. The quiet admission from the international health organization, which posted an "updated" timeline to its website this week, flies in the face of claims from some of its top officials, including WHO director general Tedros Adhanom, who maintained for months that China had informed his organization about the emerging sickness.

Armies have used music to rally troops in battle since biblical days. During the American War for Independence, boys too young and men too old to fight often played the fife and drum for the Continental Army, using music to signal commands as well as to boost soldiers’ morale.
A particular tune might direct troops to cease fire, or to reload their rifles. While music rarely has such a practical use on the battlefield today, each branch of the U.S. armed forces proudly maintains its own anthem. As Independence Day approaches, the fascinating stories behind each military anthem are worth knowing.

I t turned out that the novel coronavirus was only the second-most-infectious disease to spread through the U.S. this year. Satan’s Cupcake has, after all, been diagnosed in less than 1 percent of Americans. The not-so-novel imbecility virus is, on the other hand, ravaging the minds of everyone from news reporters and politicians to brand managers, high-school kids, and utility-company executives. The fervor out there is often compared to the French Revolution, complete with the installation of a toy guillotine/vegetable chopper in front of Jeff Bezos’s house. But this revolution has a distinctly 21st-century American flavor: Let’s hear it for liberté, égalité, stupidité.

That force was what we now call the U.S. Merchant Marine.
History has overlooked the role of civilian mariners in our nation's many wars. Still, as we celebrate America's 244th birthday, it is worth remembering that we might well have lost our fight for independence without these brave men who stared down the world’s most dominant navy.
In the years leading up to the Revolutionary War, America’s 13 Colonies maintained a small flotilla of 31 ships, known as the Continental Navy.

When we celebrate Independence Day, we rejoice over the freedom won from the English crown. But there’s a new master gaining power in America. We need to shrug it off before it takes over.
Because we’re marking the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress, it would be instructive to see where we are today by comparing a few passages from our founding document with current events.1776: King George III has “sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”
2020: The cancel culture has cost people jobs, income, and social status.
1776: The king “has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts

Independence Day has largely become a day for barbecue and furniture sales. For many Americans, however, it remains an important day of reflection, a day to celebrate the founding of this great nation. This Independence Day may be more important than any in recent history, with protests continuing and historic symbols under attack. America’s past sins are being dredged up and reexamined. It is a good time, then, to look at the Declaration of Independence within its proper context.

Former Vice President Joe Biden emerged from his basement earlier this week for a "press conference" in Delaware. During his remarks, Biden continued his virtue signaling on race and the "soul" of America."I think the idea of bringing down, I think all those Confederate monuments to Confederate soldiers and generals who strongly supported secession and the maintenance of slavery and went to war to do it, I think those statues belong in museums, they don't belong in public places," Biden said. But it was just ten years ago when Biden was praising KKK member and Democratic Senator Robert Byrd as a "mentor" and "friend."

Twitter is dropping decades-old coding terms like "master" and "slave" as the Black Lives Matter movement continues to cause ripple effects through the tech world. The company's engineering division tweeted out a set of words that it wants "to move away from using in favor of more inclusive language." The list includes replacing "whitelist" with "allowlist," "master/slave" with "leader/follower," and "grandfathered" with "legacy status." In programming speak, "master" refers to the main version of code that controls the "slaves," or the replicas. "Lift Ev'ry Voice And Sing," traditionally known as the Black national anthem, is expected to be performed live or played before every Week 1 NFL game, and the league is considering a variety of other measures during the upcoming season to recognize victims of police brutality, a source familiar with the league's discussions told The Undefeated on Thursday.
The song would be performed before "The Star-Spangled Banner," the source said. The NFL's season opener is scheduled for Sept. 10, with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans.

Ghislaine Maxwell was finally caught Thursday after being on the lam for months following the death of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein in August 2019. The couple became known for their alleged perverted escapades on Epstein’s private plane, called the “Lolita Express,” and on Epstein’s private Caribbean island, sometimes called “Orgy Island” or the “Island of Sin,” following allegations that Epstein and Maxwell trafficked and abused underage girls. The two also allegedly passed the victims around to Epstein’s famous friends. (Photo) Maxwell shared Epstein’s circle, which has included numerous celebrities who’ve allegedly appeared in photos with Maxwell.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) on Wednesday blamed Russia’s annexation of Crimea on Republicans, though the invasion took place on President Barack Obama's watch.
Pelosi slammed President Donald Trump and Republicans for their alleged inability to face Russian aggression—and tied them to President Barack Obama’s appeasement of Moscow.
"You just described, not only for the president, but the Republicans in Congress, dereliction of duty," Pelosi told MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace. "Undermining our own elections, undermining our commitment to NATO, giving away the store, the base, in Syria. The list goes on and on. We celebrate Independence Day in America this week. Despite our imperfect history, the United States is an exceptional country that still attracts masses from around the world because of the freedom and opportunities available to our citizens.
The chaos and destruction across the country seen over the past month have left many people wondering if the majority of us — particularly younger citizens — are proud to be Americans. A recent poll of high school and college-age students, however, gives us hope for the future — particularly among those who have yet to finish 12th grade.
The survey was commissioned by Young America’s Foundation and conducted by Echelon Insights.

The arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell (July 2) as an accessory to the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein provides us an opportunity to take a quick look back at the integrity and dependability of some quite recent stories. (snip) That report seems reliable ... however, on June 21, less than two weeks ago, The New York Post reported "Ghislaine Maxwell reportedly hiding from the feds in plush Paris apartment" (snip) ABC did report some rumors on Jan. 30.
"Various press reports have placed her in Massachusetts, California, France and Israel, yet none of those sightings has been confirmed."

A friend in Washington saw Jared and Ivanka at a couple of smart DC dinner parties in the first year of the Trump administration. Ivanka seemed to want to depict them both as the internal opposition to her father, restraining his worst instincts, nudging him along on climate change or women’s issues. You might have assumed as much from ‘Javanka’s’ public image as a couple of rich young New Yorkers of conventional Manhattan liberal opinions who ended up in the White House by accidents of birth and marriage. (As Amber Athey writes, they haven’t changed.)

Joe Biden is tragically suffering a mental eclipse and sliding away at a geometric rate. Understandably, his handlers have kept him out of sight. He stays off the campaign trail on the pretext of the virus and his age-related susceptibility to COVID-19 morbidity.
I say “pretext” without apology. Quarantine should not have otherwise stopped Biden over the past three months from doing daily interviews, speeches, and meetings. But each occasion, however scripted, rehearsed, and canned, would only have offered further daily proof that Biden is cognitively unable to be president or indeed to hold any office.
Often Biden cannot finish a sentence. Names are vague eddies in his mind’s river of forgetfulness.

In the six weeks since a multiracial group of Minnesota cops killed George Floyd, America has learned all sorts of things about what caused the crime. It wasn’t just those cops’ fault, you see. It wasn’t just the responsibility of the city of Minneapolis or even the state of Minnesota. As it turns out, every white person in the world is responsible for Floyd’s death. That’s why we now need to tear down any statue of any historical figure who was Caucasian, even the guy who signed the Emancipation Proclamation. That’s why any white person who voices a black character on a cartoon show needs to step aside now.

Recent polls indicate that former vice president Joe Biden has a significant lead over President Trump. Democrat leaders are holding their self-confidence in check as they recall the horror (to them) of 2016. Likewise, the horrors of the last few weeks will not be forgotten by the voters in November.
The marathon campaign for the presidency will soon kick up a notch or two. Current polling data is as meaningful today as it was in 2016. Trump’s star will rise before November, in part due to these three impactful factors, which are primarily favorable to President Trump.

Public opinion polls appear to portend a Biden victory in November, but the former Vice President will almost certainly succumb to the same affliction that brought about Hillary Clinton’s electoral demise — anemic enthusiasm among minorities. No Democrat can win without the robust backing of this bloc of voters, and Biden’s dubious record on racially sensitive issues combined with more recent blunders, has rendered this support noticeably tepid. He also lacks the support of influential black leaders like civil rights lawyer Leo Terrell, who took to Twitter on Tuesday to write: “If the presidential election was held today, I would vote for #DonaldTrump.”

With coronavirus cases surging in the United States, the media were quick to blame: “Several Republican-led states that moved quickly to reopen this spring at the urging of President Trump have seen new cases explode,” The New York Times reported.
Yet hyper-Democratic California is actually seeing the highest number of new cases. Yes, GOP-led Arizona, Florida, Georgia and Texas are also seeing issues. But the red-v.-blue template doesn’t fit reality.
Last week, the United States saw a single-day record of more than 52,000 new COVID-19 cases.

Early this morning, Seattle police began dismantling the barricades, tents, and signs that demonstrators had used to control several city blocks for most of the last month. The area was originally known as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), but had recently been renamed, for reasons nobody could quite explain, the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (or Occupied Protest), producing the ominous acronym CHOP—as in what happened to dissenters during the French Revolution.
In recent weeks, the area had begun to acquire a correspondingly evil reputation, particularly after nightfall.
This reached a breaking point about a week ago with two shootings in 48 hours. In one of them,

Jill Biden, the wife of former Vice President Joe Biden, told The View this week that her husband is a “moderate.” Oddly, that is a label that the former Vice President has rejected in the past. And today, Joe Biden is a “revolutionary.”
Last April, shortly before he entered the race, reporters suggested that Biden was a “moderate” and not a “progressive.” He fired back: “For my whole career, I wish had been labeled in Delaware for the seven times I ran as a moderate. I was never labeled as a moderate.”
Moreover, Biden is not moving back to the center, as candidates typically do after securing their party’s nomination.

A 72-year-old homeowner shot and killed an alleged intruder he discovered in his Nashville, Tennessee, home Wednesday morning.
WSMV reports the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., when the homeowner, Henry Schuster, returned to his house after eating breakfast.
Schuster told police he noticed the screen from his kitchen window had been removed, making him suspect someone had made entry into the home through it. Schuster then pulled his gun and conducted a room-to-room check through the house.
When he entered the bathroom 27-year-old Taylor Lowery was allegedly there and “lunged at him grabbing for the gun.”
Schuster responded by shooting Lowery, fatally wounding him.

Professor Helmut Norpoth from Stony Brook University told Lou Dobbs on August 16th, 2016, that Donald Trump had an 87% chance of winning the 2016 Presidential election.
Professor Norpoth is a political science professor at Long Island’s Stoney Brook University.
His model has been correct since 1996 on predicting the popular vote.
We reported that his 2016 forecast rested on a model that tracks cyclical movements in American presidential elections. It goes back to 1828, when popular voting became widespread and the two-party system took hold. Over nearly two centuries, American presidential elections have exhibited a distinct cycle.

Jeffrey Epstein’s victims have another shot at justice. Here’s hoping they get it.Ghislaine Maxwell, the alleged child sex trafficker and abuser in league with Epstein, was finally arrested Thursday morning. Her guilt, in the court of public opinion, isn’t in question. The only question is: Will the federal government keep Maxwell alive to stand trial? There’s good reason conspiracy theories still swirl around Epstein’s suicide, nearly one year ago, in a downtown federal prison — a prison, by the way, that safely housed Bernie Madoff, the 1993 World Trade Center bomber, El Chapo and a terrorist
