Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order requiring face coverings as the coronavirus crisis intensified in the state and new infections in the U.S. passed 50,000 for the first time, a single-day record. The U.S. accounts for about a quarter of more than 10.7 million coronavirus cases world-wide, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

Accounting fraud. They are double counting the cases. Abbott should know this. What’s going on? He needs to resign.

It happened in KS, too. I will be staying out of stores and NOT wearing a mask outside, or anywhere.

Cases. Not illnesses, not deaths. Cases. And, the numbers are cooked, at that. I agree with #1. Why don’t our politician’s do their homework, or have someone on their staff that does? The information is out there for anyone to grab. The current strategy to deal with this “pandemic” is the very definition of insanity.

More lies. The 4.9% number fluctuates based on the number of "confirmed cases." At this point, nobody seriously believes that the number of "confirmed cases" reflects the actual number of people who have or have had Coronavirus. It is an entirely dishonest number driven by the number of people tested, and the criteria used to "confirm."
As for "deaths per hundred thousand," George Lloyd is a coronavirus death by the definition used to drive that number. More important, the US position in that ranking hasn't changed dramatically since the lockdown was lifted. It was an artifact of Cuomo deaths in New York -- unclean subways, sick patients dropped off at nursing homes to kill old people, and a completely incompetent and panic-stricken response from the idiot governor.

I will drive to a near by town to shop in Louisiana, because my mayor is as much of an idiot as Abbott.
This is political theater. The science shows that the masks can actually be worse than nothing UNLESS YOU ARE THE ONE SICK. And if you are sick, stay home!
"Our analysis confirms the effectiveness of medical masks and respirators against SARS. We found no clear benefit of either medical masks or N95 respirators against pH1N1.
Disposable, cotton, or paper masks are not recommended.
The confirmed effectiveness of medical masks is crucially important for lower-resource and emergency settings lacking access to N95 respirators. In such cases, single-use medical masks are preferable to cloth masks, for which there is no evidence of protection and which might facilitate transmission of pathogens when used repeatedly without adequate sterilization."

I'm very sorry that Governor Abbott is pulling a Gavin Newsom on Texans and getting a way with it. The slogan "Don't mess with Texas!" can be junked. Texans can get it back if they tell the panic-stricken Abbott to pound sand.

Looks like someone got to Abbott. Can someone in the medical profession tell me if it is even feasible to process and record these tens of thousands of "cases" on a daily basis?

Complete and utter bullsh!t. Give it up already.
Abbott, you're a sad disappointment, on this topic at least.

The city of Kansas City requires masks, but the nearby state of Missouri does not. I will be traveling about 10-12 miles to Missouri towns outside of Kansas City for shopping needs, now that my idiot county commissioners decided to require masks.
I'm not going to buckle under. And the stores where I normally shop will lose my business.

I will say this again. In 1940 we had an arm band with the swastika. Today we have a face mask. Get the picture?

Interestingly the dictators order face masks but there are no requirements for them, so any old thing will do. This makes absolutely no scientific sense. This is an example of politicians out of control. Remember this the next time you get an opportunity to vote.

“Wearing a face covering in public is proven to be one of the most effective ways we have to slow the spread of COVID-19,” Mr. Abbott said.
He may have said that...and where's the proof? Calling Dr. Fauci!
As a new resident of the State of Texas, expecting some level of sanity, it appears now no better run then Maryland. And that's a low, low standard to reach. Don't mess with Texas...it does a good enough job by itself.

I am very disappointed with my governor Greg Abbott. He has given in to the likes of Dr. Fauci that has been so wishy washy it is ridiculous. Masks on, masks off. Statistics for covid are up because more people are being tested. The masks requirements can only be enforced if an establishment requires you to wear a one if you want to go in. No masks......no entry. End of story.

The new agenda meme is to count the number of cases, while IGNORING the fact that the fatality rate is less than half of 1%-- so 99%+ do not succumb from Covid.
The younger folks out partying during Memorial Day weekend and then protesting in large groups right after has caused this spike. Governor Abbott is hoping that another does not come as a result of Independence Day weekend activities.
Greg Abbott cannot win for losing-- he is called out for not locking down Texas and not opening it up faster!
He has been very careful, deliberate and measured in attempting to open the Texas economy, and not matter what he does, he's damned by the "experts" on either side.
There was hysteria early on that EVERYONE would need a ventilator, and be hospitalized. This did not come to pass then, nor is it happening now, but to hear the media report it, we are all going to die if we don't "mask up"--
So now we are going to RUIN Independence Day.... like they did basketball, baseball, and maybe football--

Reply to #1: Accounting fraud, indeed!
- counting both antigen and antibody tests as 'new cases'
- counting trace contacts as 'new cases', whether or not they've actually tested positive
- calculating mortality rate using only those actually tested
- counting every death as caused by CV19, even many that had multiple co-morbidities
- not adjusting death counts for 40,000 to 60,000 that would have been killed by other flu strains

Here’s a story I read on another forum, from here in Houston:
In my mother's nursing home an employee tested positive for Covid. Their policy is to test all residents in that employee's unit. They came up with 11 residents who tested positive. Their policy is then to have an independent group test the positive residents again. I asked the nursing home contact if the initial 11 positives are turned in to the health department. They are. I asked if the second round shows 11 positives again, are these turned into the health department. They are. That's 22 positives for 11 residents. I asked if the second tests come back negative, are those turned in so that the initial positives are removed. They don't remove the initial positives. Interesting huh? By the way, all 11 residents tested negative on the second test.
